  1. Thanks again guys for the advice. Caster and Dolomite, I will PM when I get set up to start reloading rifle.
  2. This is what my family and friends generally say as well.
  3. I posted this question with the nervous expectation of hearing that SK / AK is a military gun with no place in hunting game (which is something I have heard before...). This response has been down right educational. Thanks for the valuable input. I will post pics when I blast one. (assuming I blast one) Caster, Thanks for the offer! PM sent. bucnbal, VERY helpful info. gregintenn, I am will remind any snickering nay sayers that I have a loaded SKS and that they are morons. Thanks BPE, I will blast at least two for your one.

Sounds like a fun shoot. A friend let me run some rounds through his little .380 pocket pistol. I think a KelTek or something. That little guy put holes where I wanted, but worked my fat hands over. The trigger guard kept slapping my trigger finger and ached for quite a while. That experience has me a little skittish with small pocket shooters, but I like SA enough to give that a go.
  5. I have an SKS that I have owned for several years and am looking to possibly hunt deer and/or pigs with some friends this year. I would like to not have to purchase a dedicated hunting rifle as I'm not sure that hunting is my bag. On the other hand, I don't want look like a lunatic using inappropriate tools with seasoned hunters. I know this forum is rife with opinions, so please step up and lay it on me. I am totally ignorant here.
  6. Glad you settled on a gun that seems to suit you. I am an XDm fan myself. Natural grip and I feel like I can get up close to bore line so that recoil does not flip too bad. Glock is my second choice, though I don't own one. They are ugly as homemade sin, but I find them very easy to apply where needed. Ruger fans seem to love that trigger, but it almost makes me queasy to operate. My brother-in-law allowed me to handle his sr9 and I thought I wanted one up to that point. Something about that break doesn't feel right to me, but he is a zealot about that gun. Like I said, glad you found your's.

I love my XDm .45 and this XDs has me daydreaming. Curious to hear if firing a random snap cap after a series of live rounds would produce a push from you guys that are complaining about it being low out at 15 yards and beyond. I want to hear more about your experiences!
  8. I haven't played d&d in a while, but I play a lot of m:tg. I have a friend at work that is really into it and I've bought a few decks. Wizards has made it really easy for noobs to get started.
  9. 375 is a pretty good price! I'll have to stop by sometime. If you're ever in east Nashville and want grab a beer drop a line. In the meantime, welcome again to the forum. Good bunch of guys in here. Couple of women too.
  10. I have enjoyed a couple of bottles of Eagle Rare, Waldron. Fantastic! Four Roses single barrel is a great bottle as well. Anybody try Noah's Mill? It is apparently ranked quite high and several of my friends are big fans
  11. I love 10/22's. Shot 'em since I was a kid. I'm scratching my dough to pick up an xdm 45 in the next month or so. Currently shooting an sks and pink handled .25 Raven. (hangs head as wife chuckles in the background). Congrats on winning the wife over to peace via superior firepower and all that. God knows that was an uphill fight in this house! Good luck collecting that Rock River. Great gun!
  12. Welcome. In Nashville but have several friends in spring hill. What do you shoot, if I may inquire?
  13. Just got off the phone with Charlie. Great guy! Plan to show up this weekend and shoot some stuff. $40 a year is a steal!
  14. Having a great day. 1 - I won a frisbee game during a break at the office today. 2 - I finally joined up to this site and get to associate with you fine individuals. 3 - A coworker and I are getting a reloading station put together this weekend so I load 7.62 for my SKS! I love blowing stuff up! Thanks for the chipper post. Just what I needed at the end of the day!

    Ruger SR9

My brother-in-law just brought his SR9 up and I got to hold it and see it strip down. Great gun in terms of size, weight, and sight picture. Didn't shoot it, but he tells me that he has put 500 rounds through and it is a dream for the price. I'm putting my pennies together to pick one up now. People that hate Ruger even love this baby!
