  1. I now live in Murfreesboro because of the job but, I was born and raised in Louisville. I love Kentucky in general and Louisville in particular. I believe the Louisville / Jefferson County school system is good. I have lived in Tennessee for 25 years and have enjoyed it very much. BUT, Louisville is still home. There us much to see and do. Hunting and fishing are great. Kentucky has a great state parks system. The Fraiser Arms Museum in Louisville is awesome. Good luck on your adventure. I am now jealous.
  2. I'm not a great Jay Leno fan but, I felt the following quote from him was worth passing on. God bless America, God bless our military personnel, past and present, and God bless us everyone. "With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?" And why would we want to?
  3. I recently purchased a Ruger SRH .44 REM MAG, with scope, from another TGO member. I would like to try hunting with it this fall. I need suggestions on the type of ammo some of you would use. I will be hunting whitetail, in the woods, at ranges not over 50 yards. Thanks in advance to all.
  4. It seems the older I get, I'm less able to tolerate spicy foods. I'm looking for suggested recipes for a mild, smoky venison jerky. C'mon, TGO'ers, help me out here.
  5. My Marlin 336 and Federal Fusion ammo are a hard combination to beat. The Marlin delivers the goods and the Fusion bullet does the job when it gets there.
  6. This was in a message I received today. Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ 2. The American G. I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom. I don't know who said it, but I believe it and agree with it. I do not like an "anonymous" signature not do I want to hide behind a screen name. My name is Michael Miller. I live in Murfreesboro, TN. I believe in God's grace, the Constitution, and this great country.
  7. The Goodman Ranch is a pay-to-hunt facility, if your in to that. They are in Chester Co. in west TN. They have a website that gives what they have and contact information. Good luck which ever direction you try.
  8. Congratulations!!! That is a job very well done.
  9. First, I don't care how good the range or the instructor is, there is no need for anyone to have to tolerate that sort of treatment. Second, I have a Bersa Ultra Compact Thunder 9 and carry it everywhere I go. I hit what I aim it at and it always goes bang. Last, tell her to come home to Gallatin. You have a great facility right up the road from you in Green Brier, Guns and Leather.
  10. As usual, TGO members have been a great source of information. Thanks to all who responded. To all TGO members, Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!!!
  11. My thought is a woods gun for deer. Some of the places I hunt can be pretty thick. So, the ranges would be relatively short.
  12. Welcome to TGO! Some pretty country in Chester Co. My best friend is game manager at the Goodman Ranch.
  13. Welcome to TGO! Good folks, food info, and good fun here. Enjoy. (I guess I'll have to admit to being the father of a former Barlett Panther.)
  14. I have a little Bushnell 3-9 rimfire scope from Wal-Mart on a Marlin .22 that works just fine. Punches paper and squirrels just fine.
