Meat Loaf, the ‘I’d Do Anything for Love’ singer, dead at 74
hipower replied to The Legion's topic in General Chat
I was just on the "What are you listening to now" thread. Just banging away on the keys and remembering all the music. Had just watched the Dan Rather interview with Meat. Thought Meat looked bad in it. Finished up and saw snavba's comment. Stunned. Had to look it up. My musical heart is broken right now. Been a fan of Meat since his beginnings. Listened lying on the floor between 2 speakers while my wife screamed for me to turn it off. Have Bat Out of Hell in my car always. Shutting up. Condolences to Meat's family and fans. You will be missed. Meat Loaf A'day. RIP> -
WOW! So much I want to say here! Love Meat! I mean absolutely and totally. Meat and Jim Steinman are just among the greatest music singers and writers that I've ever heard! Yes I have a lot of things I could say. Just love all the "Bat" recordings. Got some Steinman records. Got videos of European and US shows. IN fact, just watched The Big Interview with Dan Rather and Meat while sitting here. My wife is NOT a Meat fan. But Bless her, she has endured my musical tastes for 40 plus years now. Everything from rock, country, classical and about anything in between. From Johnny and Waylon, to Garth and Willie, Beach Boys to Poison; it's been a torture for her. lol But the absolute test of love...I took her to see Meat at the Ryman! I was bouncing and dancing in the seats with the rest. Screaming the words along with the audience and Meat! Just one of my favorite concerts ever! Not so for wifey. Having already heard too much of Meat, and at high volume...I was prepared. Took ear plugs for her to wear. lol And she did. Put them in at the first note and kept them in all thru the encores! Thanks for reminding me with this video. And much love and thanks to meat for the music and the memories! DAMN!! I didn't know when I typed all this. I just saw it. Meat is gone. I'm literally in tears here. I didn't realize I was losing a musical hero. Thank you Marvin Aday. You brought happiness to the world. You will be missed. May you Rest In Peace. Another Edit. I'm so out of touch. Jim Steinman, Meat's longtime friend and co-writer, passed in early 21. Hope they're making wonderful music together again. RIP Jim.

I feel lower than dirt even commenting in this thread. I have not served in any capacity in our military, and many, many times have felt lesser for not having done so. I was declared basically unfit for service. No need to go into it. I just want to thank All of you who have posted here for sharing your experiences and feelings. If I haven't said it before, I'll say it now..I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service to our nation. I pray for each and every man, woman, and service animal that has done their part in serving. May God Bless and Keep you all in His arms.

We do agree on that point. I would prefer it not to have the thumb safety, so will likely convert it to the decocker function...or maybe not. lol
-
What would your issue with the safety be?
-
P35 Match? Interesting.
-
Not planning on it. But would like to try one out. Currently satisfied with PC Shield Plus. But...
-
You are right sir. I ordered the CHPWS plate when I got my last PDP.
-
Have you guys seen the new pr release from S&W? Shield Plus 30 Super Carry.
-
You know...Garufa caught that and we BHP guys didn't. But that's right. The spelling was changed at some point. Why? Don't know. But both HI and HIGH have been used in an almost interchangeable manner. As when I chose my ID for online use, I considered both ways, but decided on hipower in lower case. Just seemed right to me. Same with JMB's progeny, I have always preferred Hipower. That it is, and always will be THE name to me.

Good clarification. I think I was thinking of breakage of the Walther optics plate and possible optics damage. Does seem if a factory plate should break and cause damage to an optic that might be a liability issue. But that's just my thoughts. Now to the other point of the CHPWS plate, I have recently received one, but haven't installed yet. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

While I have bowed once or twice in the direction of JMB's museum, and have made several comments on this thread about the NEW HIPOWER, I do begin to find it more and more attractive. Not the ceracoted one, that looks like a puke-pile from a cat. However, I do find that (Satin?) Stainless model and the DEEP DEEP Blue model making bad thoughts come to mind. Like you and others, I'm not sure I would call it a HIPOWER. Maybe Hipower influenced FN something. Give it a catchy new name and some of us might just think of dropping coin on one. Every time I think of selling one of mine...I see that beautiful finish, the feel of it in my hand, and the pleasure I get from shooting one. I have sold only 1 BHP in my shooting life. It was a very big mistake! Darn you Smith and Magic!! And I grant you that nostalgia has a part in it as well. I learned about BHPs and P38s from my DAD, rest his soul. He loved them both. Spoke very highly of them, but he was a dyed-in-the-smokie from the barrel, 1911 Man. That was to him the best pistol ever. Yeah, that's debatable from many, but was his competition gun and favorite shooter. Smith&Wesson did come in a very close second though.

So where does the capacity/round carry debate end? We have 20/21 round mags for most pistols these days, with aftermarket offerings of 30+ and eventhe 50 round AR-type mags that weigh a ton loaded. So picture the old fat man, i.e. me, going out with a pistol with 20 rounds on his belt, and 2 or more mag carriers on the opposite side. I'm now weighted down with 6-10 pounds of additional mass. That's rough on the old back. Could asways go to bandoliers and sling pouches I guess. I remember the days when I/we all felt ok with one extra mag!
-
Another thought...will Walther stand behind these should we have a breakage issue? Seem like they would/should.
-
Not really familiar with pricing on these, but that's what I was offered here. Seems good. But what do I know.
-
I cannot argue about the look. It is a great looking pistol form. No doubt about it. But...it ain't your pappy's Hipower!
-
I see sort of the same thing with the Hellcat. I was offered a pretty good deal on both guns recently, but declined.

Two points, I don't know that I heard mentioned. At least I don't think so. One, does the CH Precision plate do anything to mitigate the issue on the slide with respect to gaps and movement? Two, does the aftermarket milling for optics make a difference here?
-
The Zastava M85 like the one I sold recently, seems to be making a comeback. You might take look at it. Although mine was unfired, I did get some rounds thru one, and was pleased with it. Just sayin'.

I admit I do sorta like the looks of the CSX, and if you search GB, it can be found from 549 up. So pricing isn't too far off a good spot for and introductory Shield competitor. At least that is how I see the CSX. Having bought almost all the variations of the Shield pistols, I guess you could say I'm pretty fond of them. I currently have the PC 2.0 and the 4" Plus 2.0. I really do like the way they fit my hands, and they shoot well for me. I must dmit to a slight favoritism for the PC 2.0 ove the Plus model, but I have carried it a lot longer, and shot more with it. So that might change. Withe the multitude of sub-compact and micro 9's available, and more like to come, I won't say that I couldn't be swayed in my thinking. lol Even considered a 365XL recently, pricing seems to be dropping on them. However, I wisely decided to wait on that one. For once.

I've watched that several times and didn't catch this! Sharp eyes you got there!

Very nice! I like it! I usually just have my backpack bazooka and a couple of Gerbers. LOL! Actually, I'm low on the knife totem. My normal is a Kalisnakov Auto clipped on and a Gerber LST in the pocket with change. Very low end guy. If I want to get fancy, I'll get out one of the TGO Protech Striders.
