  1. Yes. I've dealt with several of them, the higher priced that is, and I've been told that the figure is higher if you transfer something they have in stock. Geez. Do you want to sell a gun or not. I haven't made a purchase from them since. BTW, the one I mentioned above has increased the transfer fee since my last visit. That insures that unless of an impending asteroid strike, and they have a defensive shield for it, I will not purchase from them. I do try to buy locally. I do want to support a local business and one I call friend. But when said business or friend is unreasonable on prices...my relationship with them ceases.
  2. Not thinking of a certain 2 location operation and a past advertiser are you? lol
  3. Right! I forgot about that. It's helpful and handy. Look for a new gun and a place to pick it up in one spot.
  4. Same for me. Phil is a good guy and will help with finding things for you as well. Maybe not the cheapest around, I haven't really checked lately, but conveninent and quick.
  5. I'm a multi-tasker. I can read and watch movies at the same time. lol Seen most of them so many times I can actually look up now and then and follow the movie. Actually have so many books around here that I'm positive I'll never finish them before I kick off.
  6. I like your choices. Silverado and Quigley Down Under are just absolutely great. Now add any of the Jack Ryan movies and my wife is in heaven. Especially Red October.
  7. Hey...I liked it.
  8. JMO opinion, but except for all the bells and whistles, lol, I actually prefer my SA model. I feel it has a better trigger in it. But I would like to have one of the new models...Executive Elite(?) with the extras on it. lol
  9. I'd like to have another of the SA and SFX models, but not willing to spend that much on them. Should have done it last Christmas before prices started rising. BTW, my TP9 was 249 shipped. lol I saw an ad for it and thought it was worth a try. I was most pleasantly surprised with it. I think that was 3 years ago, just as the Turkish guns were being imported.

    S&W M&P

Really? This is not good news. I guess the M&P 45 just dropped a few places on my wish list.

    S&W M&P

I had, and still have several from the M&P line. Prefer the compacts and the Shields to the full size 9, but I have not owned the FS 45. It does interest me, but not found a great price on one.

    CZ P-07

That's slick. Might make me like the P-07. The texture of the P series mostly left me wanting.
  13. Very true. The price has doubled on some models since I bought my first TP9 SA.
  14. Man I would so like to hear hours and hours of your stories...and some of the tunes you played on. As I was listening to literally several hours of The Statlers u-tube clips last night, I ran across Lew's short comments about his life and how he felt sort of unfulfilled by his work as he tried to do some solo recordings. That was both sad and telling of a man who made millions happy with his guitar and voice. That just got me thinking on my life and accomplishments, or lack thereof, and you come to mind. I know it probably wasn't easy or pretty all the time, but I'm sure a bit envious of your life in the music business. I've absolutely loved music all my life. Pretty much all types. From Jimmy Rogers, and Little Jimmy Dickens; to Meatloaf and Al Stewart. Bluegrass to hardcore rock. Even some of the 80s and 90s music. lol And much to the wife's amazement at times...show tunes to classical. She will listen to about anything I play, but really draws the line at any "metal," which is a real shame. I have to either send her away or go to the car to listen to early Deep Purple and Uriah Heap. Nothing quite like Smoke on the Water and Demons and Wizards played back to back. She goes for the ear plugs then. I just never made the time, nor had the drive to sit and learn to play anything. Loved the piano and stand up bass, steel and acoustic guitar, and of all things...the saxophone. Plus the bagpipes! Ok, just wasting your time. Just in a mood.
  15. Considering your career in the business, I was wondering...did you ever play with them?
  16. An ex-coworker of mine is a bigwig with ASCAP, not going to mention any names. He called me as soon as he heard the news. Like many, I was devastated. Jim knew I was a fan of the Statlers, we often listened to them instead of discussing sales pitches in my company truck. That's where we got to know each other. Listening to country as we moved from account to account. As my supervisor, we had several days a month together. Anyway, I sort of grew up listening to the Statler Brothers, in all their member changes, I loved them all. Mom even told me I looked like Don back when I was a skinny kid with long hair. lol Anyway, I guess if I had a favorite amongst them, Harold was the one. So Heaven's choir gained another great singer. May you Rest well and Sing for the Lord.
  17. I'm confused. You state G46 then show a pic of the G26. Which one are you saying is best for you?
  18. Agreed! There was an HBO(?) special back when Huey Lewis was big that featured Tower of Power playing with HL & the News. Fantastic show. I've never found it again.
  19. LOL!!! I haven't listened to Funkadelic in years!! LOVE it!
  20. That's possible, maybe even likely. But on whole, humanity has almost assuredly proven itself to stink. Time and time again, group/herd mentality presents the ugly side of people. Individuals and small groups can and oft times can and will be good. Just not very often. These little tidbits quoted from the Hipower's Book on how to steal and paraphrase the thoughts of Lazarus Long.
  21. This really has me thinking of getting another 40 cal pistol. FWIW, my first 40 was a Taurus PT 100 I bought from a sheriff's deputy at a local range some years back. We struck up a conversation after he saw the Desert Eagle I had at the time. So we swapped pistols for a few rounds. I liked his Taurus. He hated the DE. lol Afterwards he offered me the Taurus and I took it home. Anyway, in a fit of stupidity, I sold my G24, about the best 40 I ever shot. Not a carry piece, but a great shooter. Should I run across one at a decent price, I will have another.
  22. Well said, sir. Very well said.
  23. OK...going to quote myself here to give a frame of reference. A few days after the events of the above post, I met another young couple out walking. I was taking my dog Molly for her potty walk, and stopped to talk with the couple with a gorgeous little girl. I introduced myself and Molly. Dave, said they had already met Molly, as she was always out to greet them and their little girl. I hadn't seen these guys before, however, Molly seems to know everyone in the neighborhood. Anyway, after a bit of talk, Dave and his wife, Meredith said they had seen me as I hobbled around on my cane and decided to see how I was doing. Seems another neighbor had told them of my last knee surgery and the problems I'd been having. All the while, their little girl was playing with Molly. The stroll ended with them offering to shop for us as well. So I guess my sad view of the "younger generation," at least those younger than me; is a bit off. Well...on some of them anyway. Still a lot of numbnuts out there.
  24. You got 1200 rounds down one? My hat's off to you. I'm finding the little powerhouse to cause me some pain. But that's from my arthritis flaring up. Still, glad it's working that well.
  25. I got to say...this is about the ugliest, scariest, thing I have seen on this thread!
