  1. Rep. Monty Fritz had and amendment that would mandate life in prison/no parole for the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime. That would be a start, mass shootings are now anything over two people, how many of them are there in Chicago or East St. Louis every weekend, DC? How many of the latest school shooters were trans or gay? Lets make Dr.s and parents liable for not turning in their children if they know they are mentally disturbed. We have involuntary committal in TN now, but if nobody calls it in and somebody knows, who suffers and who is to blame? 2. The same people who continuously shill for the Asset Forfeiture are the ones who do not want you to be able to legally carry long guns, or any gun for that matter. The Department of Safety, the Sheriffs Association, TBI, the Chiefs of Police and the DAs Conference have fought us every step, from the first issuance of handgun permits to trying to be like the rest of the freaking Nation with respect to long guns, and every governor is with them.
  3. Because you can't get 10 people to show up at the Capitol in support of firearms rights. Everybody thinks Tennessee is the Patron State of Shooting Stuff, but in reality none of the skeet shooters, or squirrel, deer or duck hunters, IPDQ shooters, Long Range shooters, silhouette shooters, handgun carriers think it is necessary to take a days vacation to drive to Nashville. For 20 years I have been burning my vacation to try and stem the tide of infringement here, and as important as it has been this year, I have been the only one outside of a guy named Tobi Maire, (who by the way is a German Ex Pat on paid duty for T Rex Arms who hurts us far more than he helps). This from the Day the Director of the TBI said the 2nd Amendment only covered muskets...
  4. Here is what the governor intends to bring to the floor this week. Temporary-Mental-Health-Order-of-Protection-007924.pdf
  5. Two bills that have not been on notice all session are now up for re-opened committees tomorrow, both aimed at being as close to Red Flag as they can get without listing guns being taken away. One HB 1017 by Grills, I understand is trying to make sure that juvenile mental issues follow them to adulthood by being sent to TICS. One by Bryan Terry HB 0267 deals with mental issues in minors as well. All thins under "We have to do something" order by Bill Lee. We have no friends in the General Assembly it seems. No one can see what the amended language is, no one could get on the docket to testify against them, but I bet the Department of Safety and the TBI mouthpieces are there...
  6. Sexton may have a bigger problem keeping his job, the recent dust up about where he lives may get him removed from office.
  7. How about letting us keep it on our person, like the Constitution calls for?
  8. It is all the Nation sees now, Johnson stepped out of the chamber at the end of her vote and told the newies she was kept because of race. So that is the fact now, true or not. Is the driver of a get-away car judged guilty of murder if the robber he ferried kills the attendant of the Stop and Rob? She broke the House rules and I have been told she was the one who brought the bull horn into the chamber. She played the other two, all of us and got off, but relates it to race. Tennessee looks like bunch of toothless rubes, between our Lt. Gov. and our witless House Republicans who can not stay on task. It should give pause to everyone in the future when the Speaker of the House, titular head of the party there, tosses his hat in the ring for governor in '26.
  9. https://tennesseelookout.com/2023/04/05/key-republican-to-take-up-gun-storage-effort-in-wake-of-covenant-shooting/ Faison is working with the Democrat Hemmer to recall the "Safe Storage Bill" that was laced with the Red Flag attempt by the Democrats. With friends like that.... I am not sure how the left is able to parse the shooting at Covenant into a need for locking containers in a vehicle having any bearing on preventing that tragedy, but here you go, never let a crisis go to waste, and Faison is on board. He joins all the Memphis Representatives and Senators, both Republican and Democrat to punish the innocent gun owner for the Crimes of the guilty...
  10. Grills' HB 1005 as amended is up in Finance this week, it has a positive fiscal note so it SHOULD pass out, would have thought it would pass on the floor prior to the debacle of removing Gloria Johnson failed by one vote, but who knows now. SB 1503, gutted as it is by Taylor will be un in Finance on the Senate side as well. Both iterations are bad bills, though HB 1005 does somewhat take away the power of the Departments to continue to enforce the unconstitutional premise of possessing a firearm by a non felon as a crime, and allows the possession of a long gun as a right like 42 other states do. If both pass (I have no hope the 33 would read and comport to the Constitutions and the Bruen ruling however) the whole shebang might be corrected in conference committee, but I am not holding my breath.
  11. I realize that more than most, but, he controls the Budget and that gives him power beyond all others, and, he has the slush fund, the overage of collected taxes. He wanted his version of so called Constitutional carry and he got it. He controls the Departments as they work at his pleasure. If he wants a thing, he gets a thing.
  12. Well, from his letter to us in 2018, he has failed to keep his promise :
  13. Some politicians do, they take a lot of heat for it as well. Being somewhat close to a number that do, I can promise there are far more who use every instance to fundraise.
  14. It has been all I could do to keep from putting up a meme about Benedict Arnold having been in the Army...
  15. A number of states have secure storage. Depending on the next SCOTUS judge it can go either way, as we have never had the "sensitive place" question adjudicated. Scalia just said it was generally accepted that government buildings such as courthouses, but if we take into consideration historical tradition, (Tennessee does not have a rule from the founding on that), but he did say we have not decided what they are, that was for a later date.
  16. 1503 as amended will deny you the ability to carry a long gun even unloaded, except during hunting or sport shooting.
  17. Explain please, which law are you referencing, and what was the wording of the law in1796 when we were made a state?
  18. The Senator that took the criminal Brian Kelsey's place amended 1503 in such a manner that it not only took out every good thing in the bill, it added more restrictions. The Republican Supermajority in the Senate Judiciary showed its true colors, refusing to allow long guns as 42 other states do with no permitand 4 more do with a permit. With friends like this...
  19. For those of you in Memphis and the area, Paul Rose is the key bill killer, supposedly from a rural area, his comment to me was "The little Old Ladies in my church do not want to see AR 15s in the Wal Mart". He knows that any store could put signage up saying not long arms allowed just like they can now with handguns. He knows that AR 15 pistols are legal and easier to conceal, he just does not care. If anyone has any stroke with him, he is a key vote, if he were to flip to our side then the new guy from Memphis Brent Taylor would most likely follow. As it sits today this bill will fail if it ever actually gets considered in the Senate. Every Senator that votes against this should be ousted for Official Oppression.
  20. Rep. Todd Warner is dog poop as fare as the other House members are concerned...his relationship with the former Chief of Staff for ousted Speaker Casada puts him in a hole, so nobody else is going to glom on to that letter. However, I think the present Lt. Gov.'s days are numbered from the scuttlebutt I am hearing. Why Sexton is going on the radio to support him at this point is beyond me, except a friend standing up for a past relationship...
