Coke's America the Beautiful - Give me your thoughts
Capbyrd replied to Shug's topic in General Chat
I wasn't calling you out. I was talking about the people upset about the commercial. America the Beautiful is not a sacred song or anything. And even if it were, whats wrong with accepting other people and other languages. Have y'all forgotten that other nations helped up gain independence and build this country? O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! What part of this says that people can't sing it in other languages. No one will ever convince me that singing a singing a song in a different language is an insult. Its like saying that people in those places aren't allowed to like America. -

Exactly what I expect from this forum. The same old bigoted geezers whining about how their feelings got hurt. Y'all act all tough and dream about killing people that wrong you but cry more than my 8 month old niece when she hits her head on something. GROW UP!!!! -
TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Capbyrd replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I can't tell you exactly what the judicial committe is in charge of. But basically they review the bill to ensure that it doesn't violate civil liberty issues or something along those lines. *EDIT* Here is the official description of the judicial committee. It will likely go to a few more committees before the full senate and then the governors desk. If you want to learn, follow along at the link I've posted. -

You can watch the following page for updates. It has not yet been added to a calendar. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/default.aspx?BillNumber=SB1771&GA=108 Last year, I posted updates as often as I could and kept the board in the know with the calendar. I'll be doing the same this year. -
I'm no hinderer fan (anymore). But I do like his new model. I think his pricing is a little off though. I personally owned an XM and a Flashpoint in the past. But I have friends that had pretty awesome collections. Here is a pic of me and a buddy out to lunch.

Mailed in July. Check cashed in July. Pending September 11th. I expect it back sometime in the distant future.

With the certification of trust, I was able to get mine setup. It took longer than normal as I was using a small bank and they had never done it before. But within a few hours, I was up and running.

I've put off replying to this because I didn't want to make an ass of myself. But I can't help it. I will not thank Terry Ashe for anything. I will not write him any kind of positive letter. Regardless of how you worked with him and changed his mind or whatever, this is the same guy that sat there last year and said that a switchblade sounds like a shotgun. I will support this bill because I want it to pass but I will not support Ashe in any way. -
Its not appearance. I don't want my knife to come open on draw. I can open it. I don't want anything to snag. I've cut myself a lot because of a wave.
-
As someone that hates the wave, I want them to do a couple models without it.
-
I just want to second this sentiment. If your budget allows, get RMJ. You will be getting the best there is and money stays here. Just like buying SOE gear!

GMRS DOES REQUIRE A LICENSE! http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/general-mobile-radio-service-gmrs Again, GMRS requires a license.
-
There is no reason to follow that closely. Ever. I don't care who you are. Leave room.
-
Maybe some people do it because they aren't in a hurry to get some where. Doing 40 in a 45 is NOT illegal. Everyone sure seems to think it is but its not.

Is a trust really $2000?

John did mine and was a pleasure to work with. Answered the tons of questions I had. -

I'll post up a rundown like I did last year. Section 1: removes "switchblade knife" from the list of prohibited "weapons" (I hate that word. No item is actually a weapon until possessed by a person intending harm) Section 2: Removes this line from Prohibited Weapons list. "(8) Any other implement for infliction of serious bodily injury or death that has no common lawful purpose." Section 3: Here is the current text. It basically just removes "switchblade knife." "(1) Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly sells, loans or makes a gift of a firearm or switchblade knife to a minor;" Section 4: Current text. Again, just removes the blade length restriction. "(a) (1) A person commits an offense who carries with the intent to go armed a firearm, a knife with a blade length exceeding four inches (4''), or a club." Section 5: Current text. This section actually adds verbiage to the current law. "(3) A violation of this subsection (d) is a Class E felony." Section 6: Again, this one adds verbiage to the current law to make switchblade use during crime a more serious offense. It will push current subdivisions e and f to f and g respectively. Section 7: Current text is as follows. "(2) A knife, even if the blade is in excess of four inches (4''); provided, that it is not a switchblade knife; or" Again, here we are just removing switchblade from the text. Section 8: Self explanatory. Gives an effective date for if it all passes. I hope that gives y'all a good understanding of what they are doing here. I can post up the entire TCA if necessary or you can just use this link to see the code for yourself. http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/ -
I see a ton of people here don't care about the law. Seems to be common place for gun boards to be full up with the criminal element. Y'all can rationalize all you want, but I don't have anymore time for the guy going 60 in a 45 or changing lanes in front of me without a blinker than I do the guy that stole the radio out of my car. As for the cop thing, how do all of you know he was trying to bait you? I like how you all just assume. Maybe he just has bad driving habits. If someone tailgates me, I don't care who they are, I just get out of the way. No wonder everyone has heart attacks and anxiety problems. Y'all are all just wound up about pointless stuff. Just try and relax every now and then. Don't let crap get to you to the point that you have to complain to strangers on the internet or try and blind people or whatever.

Based on the Loveless Stiff Horn pattern is this nice folder from David Sharp (Sharpwerks). Measuring 3.75" of blade, and some thick slabs for the frame, its a big knife. But its a slim pattern as well. Very unique. I like this one a lot. This one was just visiting me. It was a borrowed blade. But I enjoyed my time with it. The flame colored thumb stud and pivot were a nice splash of color against the otherwise utility grey of the knife. This is one of 12 of David's first folders. He just completed another run of 8 of a different pattern. He is going to be one to watch. He is deeply inspired by Loveless so you know that his patterns are going to be timeless.

Allen lives in a geographical oddity. The availability capital of the world. Everything is always in stock and everything is always cheap.
-
Sand the finish off and go get you some ferric chloride. Do a bath in the acid and neutralize it. It will come out dark and will protect the blade for a while. My primary edc folder is an acid tumbled finish.
-
What kind of budget?
-
Oh, and the new Emerson collabs could be huge for both EKI and KAI. I just wish they would make a few without the wave.
-
The straight part (long cutting edge) of the blade isn't a straight line. Its curved. hold a straight edge against it and part of it will poke out. Gustafa, we'll have to get together some time. You can check out some of the things that I carry.
