    Sig 226 or?

You need to sow those wild oats before you can ever make a serious commitment to your Significant other. I vote you take a hayride with a couple of Czechs.

    Bersa .380 CC

I'd clean it, put a grease type lubricant on it and give it another chance. I'd be tempted to clean it dry and manually rack the slide back and forth a fee hundred times before I greased it up. Limp writing can make any semiautomatic pistol jam. I've never shot a Bersa but this the first complaint I've ever read about as far as reliability goes. What lubricant are you running?
  3. I assume you have 2 pockets. Get both. Shoot both. Carry both. I personally prefer as light as possible in my pocket.
  4. While showing my friend how to field strip his brand spanking new Blued Sig P220 several years ago I: 1- Removed the magazine 2-Racked slide twice and then locked it open 3- Visually inspected the empty chamber 4- Rotated the "disassembly lever?" with my thumb 5- Hit the slide release lever with my thumb 6- Watched in horror as the entire upper half (of a blued mint pistol my friend had scoured the internet looking for) sailed off the porch and barely cleared his sidewalk by a few inches. Everyone makes mistakes.

    Sig Sauer p232

Quality 380 that will never go out of style.
  6. Coonan fits 357 Magnum in a single stack semiautomatic pistol. I'd use that as a starting point. Maybe even a Desert Eagle?
  7. Thanks for bringing this subject up for discussion. Unfortunately, I suspect the people who need to be more aware are not TGO members and assume they are completely safe opencarrying even though they are unware of their surroundings.
  8. I'm just gonna echo what others have already commented. Where is your primary and where do you plan to carry your backup. My votes would be a S&W J-frame, a KeltecP32 or just another magazine/speed loader for your primary. Or a brick, never needs reloading...
  9. Beautiful pistol, I couldn't own a gun that I couldn't shoot, but I appreciate the uniqueness of this Python.
  10. They should have chose Glock instead of Beretta 92 magazine compatability. If it does gather a following the Beretta 92 40S&W capacity is only 11 in a full size grip. Street price shall dictate sales.
  11. I'm a pockets guy myself as well. 4 pistol and 3 rifle are my minimum. My maximum was about a large duffel bag for each platform...
  12. I'm definitely not an expert but I'll voice my opinion anyways... if you're aiming for a ping-pong ball put an ACOG on it. Baseballs use a 3.25 and softballs a 6.5. Monogomous dryfire practice, safely, with your Glock will yield impressive results. My first outing after cheating on my Glocks with a 1911 I mistakenly blamed the ammo. Accuracy and Familiarity go hand in hand. Have fun with your handcannon. :)
  13. Take it completely apart. Clean the hell out of it. Replace all the springs. After that leave the pin(s) ((can't remember if one or two)) alone for the next twenty years.
  14. My pal has a lightweight flat top carbine with a 4×Acog mounted and he uses the backup sights on the top of the scope at pistol range distances just fine. At what range you want to be able to use "iron sights"?
  15. One of my customers who builds AR'S as a hobby told me about it. We both agreed too much money for a working gun. Might be fun to "play" with at the range, but this isn't isn't a drop in rimfire conversion that you can take off in ten seconds and simply lock up. The weapon always has that trigger and the potential for lethal mistakes is avoidable by not having a unique trigger on a familiar platform.
  16. Thanks hipower, McGarrett and DWARREN123 for your input! I'm gonna focus on obtaining new and used factory mags and pistol replacement springs and then pick up a couple of 17rd nickel MecGars to wear out at the range once I start shooting regularly again. Thanks again to all who have commented so far, TGO rocks!
  17. Sidecarist, thanks for your input about your experience.
  18. Sidecarist, do you use the 15rd or 17rd, nickel or blue?
  19. Just realized my KelTec P32 mags were made by Mec-Gar. No KelTecs but I kept a couple mags. The KelTec P11 accepts S&W mags so it kinda makes sense that they may make the best aftermarket option. I am eyeballing some stainless aftermarket magazines from keepshooting.com...
  20. Thanks Peejman, were they the 15rd or 17rd for this pistol or another platform entirely. The one MecGar I have is blued steel with 5, 10 and 15 round counter holes in the side, drops freely empty, base plate actually locks and last round hold open works while hand cycling.
  21. Thanks, TNWNGR, I definitely am going to try to acquire at least 2 new factory mags and am gonna chat up every city officer I know here locally as I know they used to be required to carry S&W autos in the 90's. Replacement springs are in my to do list as well. This is a beautiful pistol, built to last (with maintenance). I had a trigger return spring break in a 2nd Gen G19 so I am well aware that nothing lasts forever. Except Twinkies ;)
  22. Thanks Garufa, I will try at least one 17rd MecGar, do they drop free and last round hold open reliably? Do the base plates actually lock in place? Do you keep them stored fully loaded?
  23. I'm the proud owner of a 3rd Gen S&W 5906. My first nine was a 915, a budget version of this pistol. 9mm and double stacked magazines holding 15 rounds. I'm definitely gonna pony up and buy 2 S&W factory magazines but I'm curious about any TGOer's first hand experience with aftermarket 15rd, 17rd and extended capacity magazines. I currently have 4 15 rounder after market magazines but have yet to take any to the range.
