  1. Here's mine (back before Christmas), right out of the box and after I replaced the original scales with some Cocobolo wood grips I'd purchased off eBay. I've also ordered a leather sheath from here: http://www.sagewoodgear.com/ Keep in mind, it takes 6-8 weeks to get a Sagewood Gear after you order on line. I ordered mine the day after Christmas and won't get it for a few more weeks. Pictures to come when I get it.
  2. I bought the new Ruger SR1911 the other day and noticed that it was made in Prescott, Arizona, not Southport Conn. like the ones I bought about 15 years ago. Guess the gun owning residents need to follow the gun manufacturers...out of the state.
  3. Found this on YouTube. Impressive, but I'm not impressed.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTchdUQcTvQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPzZkvYYQaM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeAYje1j-9M   If thses things are as good as they're supposed to be for only $50. The guy must be pruducing them all buy himself (i.e. not factory or help)... He must not have produced a great quatity, they sold out so quickly.   I agree with MacGyver, it's ugly, BUT To each his own... Jax, give one a try and let us all know what you think once you've tried it. Who knows, it could be the next Atwood Prybaby.... ;)
  4.   I agree with Joe. If it's too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true. You also may want to do an indepth search to see what the guys who got in on the first wave think of them. I haven't had any luck finding any reviews on other forums or threads, but give it time.
  5. I carry a Colt Defender (3 inch barrel). Love it. The Glock 21SF and the Ruger P-90 (I've found) when carried IWB, print terribly. That's just my  :2cents: ... But, upon reading previous posts, I want to try IWB a Commander size 1911. Dern, guess I'll have to buy a new 1911. :woohoo:
  6. That's probably what happened. I had a tennent of mine get caught up in a road rage incident. He flashed a similar badge to get the other driver to back off. Long story short, the LEOs were called and he now has the same gun purchasing and carry rights of a DUI offender.
  7. I lost interest when American Chopper stopped being a documentary type show narrated by Mike Roe and went to the somewhat scripted reality show. I like watching the assembly and tech behind building a bike....not the drama.
  8. Why do they buy this stuff? The same reason you and I would buy this stuff....If they have the budget and can get a good deal on it, WHY NOT? ;) It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
  9. The two big rooms aren't as big you'd think two big rooms should be. Most of the Bill Goodman crowd will be there. That's was most of the vendors/dealers I recognized, anyway.
  10. People who don't have their "respect" button turned on don't read signs. I have "No Trespassing" and "No Parking" signs all along my fences and on my gates and we still catch them parked in front of the "No Parking" signs and climbing the fences at the "No Trespassing" signs.
  11. In my experience in shopping the web, I've found that Cheaper Than Dirt isn't always cheaper than dirt.
  12. All of these are great ideas. But depending on where you store your ammo and in what, you might want to throw a silica packet in with said ammo if it's going to be stored for a length of time... http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=silica+gel+pack&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=7764714608&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2376710251097841207&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_3wwosk6do4_b
  13. The bylaws of the BSA do not accespt homosexuals....okay, they changed that. BUT, it doesn't mean that everyone else has to (i.e. the church and those dropping out of the BSA) fall in line with it.   Just think that if the NRA or 2nd Amendment Foundation started backing a gun control bill just how many would drop out of those oganizations and stop sending funds.   The BSA has done an about face on a principle they were founded on and followed for over 100 years. Anyone wanting to drop out or cut off their flow of money to them has the right... and my respect.   I don't wont my kids hanging around with that lifestyle (homosexuality) and growing up to think it's okay. Tolerate it, but don't support it.   My Prediction: There will be another oganization (call it what you will) rise from this that follows traditional values like the BSA did when they started. It will be the conservative version of the BSA and the original BSA will continue on or drop by the wayside....my prediction.
  14. Beretta 92F...purchased a month after I turned 21. I still have it, its cleaning brush, extra mag, the plastic case, the paper box it came in, booklet...everything It has a special place in the safe and I have considered it retired until one of the kids get it after I die.
  15. Ah...Walking into familiar places only to suddenly find a dead hooker.....those were the days... :biglol:
  16. Back in the 80s you could buy ANYTHING gun related at a gun show....the top shelf stuff, too. I remember seeing a vendor scrimshaw a grip on the spot and another hand tool a gun belt. There were good deals, food, and low prices. Now, it's mostly tasers, lighters, airsoft, and Chinese made knives. This is not to say there's a few quality vendors and gun dealers at shows....You just have to know who and what you're looking for....   Gun dealing is a better business to be in these days. Most gun dealers weren't as well known back then as they are now. Even the little "hole in the wall" gun dealer has an established clientele these days and really doesn't need to venture to a gun show to sell his wares. I think as gun shows caught on, not only did the admission go up, but the price of a vendor table went up, too. I don't know why vendors should have to pay a trmendous price for a table when Bill Goodman, Kenny Smith and the like are making a killing at the door. The only reason I can figure the high price of everything is the high cost of rental and insurance on the venue. My :2cents:
  17. If I were 17, I'd have pictures of Jeanine Pirro, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, and Megyn Kelly on the inside of my high school locker door....
  18. The difference between "well stocked" and a "hoarder" is: A "hoarder" bought ammo like a mother****er after December 14, 2012....and never shoots it. Someone who's "well stocked" had been casually buying ammo on line, at gun shops, and to justify his wife dragging him to Walmart, or when he just couldn't find anything in the sporting good store that begged to go home with him.... I'm somewhat of a "well stocked hoarder" for the time being...
  19. I'd be a car guy, if I had a really good place to keep a car... But, then again, if I had a really good place to keep a car, I'd probably put all my guns there... :D Good choice on your pistol.
  20. Is this one of the "first 2000"? I've heard good things about them. They're call them the "Hebrew Hammer". I hope the market gets flooded with them, so I can get a chance at one for my sweaty little hands.
  21. http://newyorkcityguns.com/2013/05/remington-arms-releases-sleazy-facebook-statement-boycott-them-now/   The statement:   "To our Remington fans, We believe the NY SAFE Act is unconstitutional and was passed in a questionable fashion. Remington and its employees worked diligently with pro-gun legislators to prevent the Act’s passage. We actively participated in the Albany rallies and drove the letter-writing campaign to stop this anti-gun legislation. The recently awarded Department of Defense (Special Operations Command) contract, questioned by some as a “pay-off,” has been in development for years — it has nothing to do with NY State. While we are unhappy with the misguided acts of our elected politicians, Remington will not run or abandon its loyal and hard working 1,300 employees without considerable thought and deliberation. Laws can be overturned and politicians voted out of office, but the decisions we make today will affect our people, their families and entire communities for generations. Please bear with us as we determine the most appropriate way to satisfy our customers and protect our employees."
  22. I think the rifle, itself is worth about $900. The fact that it has COLT stamped on it, costs about $500....my :2cents:
  23. Agreed....except for cituations like Hostess and GM. The union has pull and sometimes has chairs on the board. We'll probably not know until something blows up about said compaies moving or not moving. As far as Skilled labor, Connecticut is known as "gun valley"...at least that's what the president of Mossberg said in an NRA interview. He pretty much said that all skilled gunsmith labor was located there, even though (their) parts were manufactured in TX. I know if I lived in CO, CT, or NY and the gun industry was my livelihood, I'd be in my boss' office asking, "When do we move?", "I'm ready to go."
