  I started this post prior to the tragic events of yesterday. It does not seem as silly of an idea today does it. 

  I was not considering on body carry, vehicle carry yes. I was of the opinion that an AR pistol was basically a loud, useless range toy, until I got to spend some time shooting a few of them, no they are not rifles, but they can certainly be be considered a big step up form a conventional pistol. The buffer tube of the AR pistol is very practical for a cheek weld, and can be used as a short stock, for a medium/small build guy like myself it's a bit cramped. but certainly workable.

Although I do not open carry, and don't think it's a good idea, is an AR15 Pistol covered by a TN HCP? I would assume it would, but assumption is rarely a good idea. I have one of these funs, and while I consider it a range "toy", it has obvious potential as a self defense weapon.

I use a Lee factory crimp die on the last station on my Dillon 550 presses. I on auto pistol rounds I measure the out side diameter of a factory round, and adjust the crimp to match that. I have had great success doing this, all my ammo works just fine. 

I'm going to get a nice Italian stiletto, switchblade, with at least a 5" blade! Why? Because they look so cool! It seems absurd that I can legally carry my .45 AND my .380 , yet am not to be trusted with a switchblade.

I carry everyday, everywhere that it's legal to do so. I'm going to a high school football game tonight, and will not carry on school property.

P3AT, chambered, and full mag, S&W 649 Bodyguard, 5 beans in the wheel. Always............! If you don't feel comfortable carrying a "hot" firearm I can respect that, but if that's the case more training is in order. IMHO

The .40 is a fine duty round/ carry round. I have Glock 35 I bought for IDPA, with my reloads it's like shooting a .22! With full power ammo it's s great HD gun. If I didn't reload I would rather have a 9mm because practice ammo is cheaper.

I had a P-32 which I sold to a fellow TGO member some time ago, it worked just fine. I purchased a P3AT last Oct. and have put 200 rds. through it with no issues. It is not my favorite pistol, but it has a permanent home in my pocket, usually as a back up to my .38 Smith. Kel-Tec has a good reputation for customer service, and their quality control seems to be getting better.

Got my P3AT on Saturday, took it out and ran 90 rds through it on Sunday. It's not a bad little pistol at all,it had no malfunctions, and I had four different brands of ammo to try. I wouldn't call it a fun gun to shoot, but it's not painful, it's accurate enough for its intended purpose and it works. I shot mostly at 7yds, but could keep the hits COM easily out at 15yds. I would say it's a bargain in a good carry pistol.

Thanks for the input guys. It's good to hear positive reports on a made in USA pistol. I called my cousin, who owns a gun store in Calhoun, and she has one in stock, so I'm going to go pick one up tomorrow. I'll be back with a range report soon I hope! Thanks, gunsablazin

I sold a KelTec P32 to a TGO member a year or so ago, it shot just fine, but I swore to myself that I would never carry a "mouse gun" again. The reality is that occasionally a little gun is needed, and I'm thinking of getting a P3AT. I have heard that they have improved their quality quite a bit, and that they have great customer service in the event you get a lemon. I do not want a single action pocket gun, so that rules out the Sig, and the Ruger LCP etc. look like the same gun for more money. What say you P3AT owners, do like yours? Would you buy another? I wish now that I just kept the .32, not much power, but it ran great.

Does this 4" rule apply to fixed blade knives? I have KaBar TDI fixed blade which I like to carry, its blade is less than 2". I use it as a box cutter at work, and carry it back and forth from home to work.

Anyone know anything about a Walther model 8 .25ACP pistol? I have a nickel plated one with black grips, it's in pretty decent condition for its age. It belonged to a friend of mine who passed away, and his wife wanted to get rid of it, so I wound up with it.

I saw an armadillo, road kill on hwy 411 in Polk Co. This was 5/8/11, anybody else seen any in this area. I've seen plenty of them in lower Al., but this was a first in TN. Just wondering if they are moving this way or if that "armored 'opossum" was blown in with the storms.

The match was a lot of fun! The pistol was not bad at all, it ran hard all day, and I saw one that got so hot the RO dunked it in ice water so the next shooter could hold it. I had never shot steel challenge before, and that was an eyeopener! Who would have thought those plates could look that small. Thanks to Caracal USA and ORSA for hosting the event, good job guys!

Glad you had some fun. Now that you have a taste of competition you might look into the clubs in the area that host monthly shoot. Try rangeissafe.com for match schedules. We are fortunate to have USPSA, IDPA, 3-Gun, and Cowboy action in this area as well as access to very good local instructors who teach self defense and competition classes.

If you want to fix it Numrich arms might have a replacement slide for it. If not it would make a nice paperweight. I checked at Numrich, they do have a stripped slide for $62.00

Good move carter! It's usually a bad idea to sell a good gun, but selling a classic S&W revolver is always a mistake. I sold one once have have regretted it ever since!

I don't think the Vaquero has adjustable sights, for target shooting the Blackhawk would be a good choice. I had one years ago, and with .357 ammo it was great fun to plink at dirt clods etc. at ranges on the far side of 100 yds.

Start with a single station press, you'll always need one anyway and it will teach you how to adjust dies and learn what each step does. Soon you will want a progressive press, get a Dillon, their warranty is unsurpassed, I have a 550 that is 25 years old and they support like it was new. If your ever in Cleveland I'll be happy to show you my set up and help get you started. It is not hard to do with just a little schooling.
