  1.   Any chance this was a precision model? I have a Dell precision 6500 from work and it has been nothing but a pain in the neck...constant overheating and black screens. Dell has replaced the motherboard and graphics card 4 times in the last 3 years. Terrible laptop, don't think I'd go with a Dell again.
  2.   I'm using an iPhone 5 on Sprint and when the wifi drops and switches to 3G/4G the app does switch with it, it might take a few seconds or so but it does keep playing without me having to do anything on the phone.  The reception has been spotty for me at times.  Some days it will be fine for most of my drive into work but other days it will drop/restart several times.  Usually doesn't drop for a long period of time but it can still be annoying.     Can I ask what station you use to listen to Bob and Tom?  I use iHeartRadio to listen to them but would like to try tunein.
  3. I use TaxAct.com.  I buy the $7.95 version which keeps past records and imports them into the new return.   TurboTax is owned by Intuit which appears to be anti-gun http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/59436-gun-dealers-having-problem-with-credit-card-processors/
  4. While it might be entertaining alas, it's not true http://www.traditioninaction.org/History/A_005_Myths1500s.shtml http://www.snopes.com/language/phrases/1500.asp
  5. Get a Google voice account which will give you a phone number and then download Talkatone. It's a great app that allows you to send texts and make phone calls using your Google voice account as long as you have a data connection (wifi or 3G). I used it while I was in Canada to call into work here for free from my iPad.
  6. Uninformed DMV worker. I got my HCP when I was a conditional green card holder. The conditional status is for married people that have been married for less than 2 years and it's there to make sure the marriage isn't a scam marriage.
  7. It was probably removed because the story is a couple of years old. Fritz Henderson is not the CEO of GM anymore, he left in 2009.
  8. Welcome to a fellow canuck. You will love the freedoms you have here. Regarding gun ownership, yeah, you'll have to wait until you get your green card but once you get it not only can you buy guns, you can get your hcp (the first things I did after getting my green card). If you're ever over Nashville way give me a holler and we'll have some Mooseheads and poutine
  9. The battle mug is even making news across the pond: http://www.dailymail...chments-to.html
  10. Guess I should chime in here. A lot of Canadians have no problems with owning rifles and shotguns for hunting or even target shooting, but a lot have problems with handguns and don't see the need. Myself, I love them all and when I got my green card, one of the first things I did was buy my XD, and one of the next things I did was get my HCP. A couple of friends back home were a little shocked to learn that not only could I carry a handgun, I did regularly. It's just not part of the culture. When I first moved to TN I had no idea that an ordinary citizen could carry a gun...a very pleasant surprise. The long gun registry has been a complete failure in every aspect. The biggest thing had to do with the cost. When the Liberal gov't put it in, they told the public it would cost 2 million dollars to implement. It ended up being 2 BILLION dollars. And all the guns were still not registered. I'm glad it will be gone. Now if they would just remove all the licencing required to buy a firearm and removed handguns as a restricted weapon. Sadly, I don't see that happening though.
  11. Meh, never a fan of Labatts or Molson, now Moosehead is a different story. Funny thing is I can get a 6 pack of Moosehead here for a lot cheaper than I can back home (and Moosehead is made about an hour and a half away from my hometown).
  12. This was a huge cluster-@ from the beginning. It was supposed to cost $2 million and ended up costing around $2 billion and only about 30% of guns were registered (many people simply ignored the law). The freedoms I have now with firearms is one of the reasons I'm glad I moved down here.
  13. I was driving to work when I heard on the radio about the first plane, then the second plane hitting and realizing that this was a deliberate attack and not an accident. I had just moved down here from NYC the year before and spent the morning trying to call friends back in NY to make sure they were safe (one worked in WTC 7 but was out of town on business, though we didn't find that out until later that morning). I remember finally reaching one friend on the phone and praying with her. I also remember feeling a little guilt that I wasn't able to be there with them. When I was living/working in NY, the WTC was my subway stop for a number of months. I visited ground zero the following year and remember just how empty that area looked.
  14. So you'd be ok with banning late term abortions, since the fetus can survive outside the womb at that point and would then be considered a life?
  15. McCreary's Irish pub in downtown Franklin has some of the best fish and chips around and it's 2 for 1 beers from 3-6.
  16. This is great advice. I've been playing for around 20 years (though I'm not nearly as good as I should be for playing that long). Took lessons for a few months but I learned the most from playing with other guitarist and getting tips from them. I've got an American Strat, Jackson dinky, a couple of cheap classicals, a 5 string bass and a Martin electric/acoustic (my baby).
  17. I've got the HTC Hero which I've rooted and upgraded the ROM to Android 2.3. Also created an EXT2 partition on my sd card so I now have 1 GB of 'internal' memory. The Hero sucked when Sprint updated the OS to 2.1 but it's running great now. There are a couple of great programs to root your phone with and after that the sky is the limit.

    Tipping.

I usually tip at least 20%, sometimes more (and I'm even Canadian ). Yes, some of the skycaps do make that much money, but just to clarify, that $2 a bag goes to the airlines not the skycap. It's a charge that the airlines have added and made the skycaps collect.
  19. I had kangaroo when I was in Australia. It's gamey but not bad.
  20. In Flanders fields the poppies grow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Thank you to all veterens and current military for your service. And may we never forget those that gave the ultimate sacrifice so we may have freedom.
