  1. If it is a hydostatic transmission it has safety switches on the fwd/rwd pedal. If this is slightly out of adjustment it can cause the same problem when trying to start.
  2. TVA campground at Pickwick is nice, I personally don't care for the sites at the state park. A lot of people fish at the spillway area of the dam. Good catfish restaurants around but will require a little driving. Battlefield is close and very peaceful especially during the week.
  3. Another vote for the Collectibles Insurance. They do increment the coverage by some percentage each year (premium also). This can be frozen upon request. I did freeze mine but need to reset coverage due to inflation and some unexplained growth in number of items. No claims to date fortunately.
  4. If you use pump diesel ( or gasoline) for farm purposes you can recover the federal fuel taxes at tax time by filing a form. {IRS 4136}. Probably need to have farm or other off road expenses and income . I know farm income is one of the uses that qualifies.
  5. I thought he did well, came off believable (to me). A jury may see differerntly of course. There is no doubt in my mind it was a valid case of self defense. An older wiser person likely would not have put himself in that position. He had as much right to be there as anyone else. I doubt that any adult would have presented himself better in either the confrontation or on the stand.
  6. The surplus place in Trenton has all kinds of ammo cans for sale, J & W Army Surplus on Manufacturers Drive. Its not too far from you. I think the 50 cal boxes were $15.
  7. Call them and get on their waiting list, it took several months to get my garand rebarreled. Once your turn comes around they send a rma number and instructions for shipment. It is fairly quick from this point. It turned out to be a lot cheaper than the gunsmith quoted. Covid caused then to be shut down for a while. I had previously left it at a local smith for what was supposed to be a two week job. It turned out to be an ordeal and I pulled it out untouched two months later when told it might be two or three months more. I was more than satisfied with CMP even with the wait.
  8. What is the barrel length, looks to be less than 16"?
  9. If the property is not in a city limits (Bolivar, Middleton etc) you can shoot with no issues legally. Complaints from neighbors could happen depending on distance and personalities. You must do it safely of course. The county Sheriff would be the place to direct questions.
  10. THP cad dispatch system is down statewide, not sure if it is routed thru this att site or not. FAA is having issues as well.
  11. Was it oiled with WD-40 or similar ? My experience is that this will lock a revolver up due to the residue forming a varnish like substance. I speak from experience.
  12. Great offer, too bad I am on the other end of the state and unable to meet. Someone else will be lucky. I think this is the first time I appeared to get there first
  13. no info on masks but I did hear on the local TV station (Jackson) that TWRA has closed all public boat ramps. This did not make a lot of sense to me. Of course, this station is not known for their reporting accuracy .
  14. TN department, consists of Dept of Safety, Military Dept, These include THP, TBI , NG , and TEMA
  15. I think we are misunderstanding each other, if my children (or in my case grandson) had been living with me or had otherwise been a regular operator he would have had to have been named on the policy to have been insured. They certainly made a point of asking if he lived with me. He does not, it was a temporary loan on a vehicle while his was in for repair. I (like some others) thought that his insurance would be involved but that did not turn out to be the case.
  16. It would not have made any difference, it was my vehicle that I am required to have insured if it is on the road.
  17. My Grandson's insurance did not cover my vehicle when he was in a wreck in March 2019. My insurance (Allstate) took the complete hit. He did have insurance on his car at the time. My agent said it followed the vehicle.
  18. I was in a commercial airline over Detroit, the ground stop had just happened, planes lined up on the taxiway but none leaving. Even security at the airport had not been told. the CNN on the monitors were showing the first tower strike. The second strike occurred as I left the airport. I drove back to Nashville the next day in a rental car. If I had not already gotten it I probably would have been stranded there for a week.
  19. Some LE departments have policies requiring seat belt use and include this in training. This is true for local SO. I believe I am alive today due to belt use in a dept vehicle. State law does not override common sense.
  20. -As I recall you must have at least $1500 in income to qualify, Its been a while since I filed the form. edit: Its $1000 from the TN site
  21. By "local dealers" in my comment I was referring to those at the Hamfest, Unfortunately not many (if any) ham radio stores in Tennessee.
  22. It is a good place to look at several brands to decide what you really like, like firearms it is often less expensive to buy online. You just have to decide if you want to support the local dealers who want and need your business.
  23. Huntsville is a good place to get a good overview of what Ham Radio is about if you can make the trip. I have been going each year for over 40 years.
