  1. You don't have to worry about wandering off the strip. Downtown is more of a worry if you get away from the bright lights.
  2. In that case, I'll just sit back and watch . I was real stupid when I was 17.
  3. NAB was always my reason for going. Not sorry I'm missing it this year (has nothing to do with vegas). I agree with the nickel and diming at caesars, but still didn't mind staying there
  4. I agree with tnt on this. I'm sure there are some seedy places, especially with the ugly economy there right now, but you don't see it on the strip or Freemont.
  5. I've been there alot (13-14 times) over the years for trade shows. I don't gamble, and have never been to a show. I used to hate it, but it grew on me over the years. I really believe that everybody should see the place once. You can spend a couple of days just walking around and taking in the sights. You can spend a whole day just at Caesar's Palace, and another downtown. Hoover dam is well worth it too. That's a big chunk of a day as well. Great food everywhere, but it's nt cheap like it used to be. One of the coolest things I've done was a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon. That was several years ago, and it was around $350 per person. It's too far to drive from Vegas. We took off from a parking lot near the strip, over hoover dam, and right up Lake Meade into the canyon. They actually set the choppers down in the canyon, and broke out the champaigne and munchies. Well worth it. Even if you don't gamble, you can blow a pretty good wad of money. My favorite hotels are the Mirage and Caesars. If you're one that drinks a bunch of coffee in the morning, hit the Walmart on the first day and buy a $10.00 pot and some coffee. A pot thru room service is 20 bucks at every hotel I've been to. They don't want you hanging in the room.
  6. Teach him how to shoot. He may turn out ok
  7. This is going nowhere. I strongly disagree with rachel, and anybody else on an anti-gun stance. Everybody gets to pick who they believe. In fact, it's much better for me if you believe everything they say, since those guys help pay the bills. I'm done with this.
  8. I wish you did too. Wasn't bragging, just qualifying my statements
  9. ...and that's why I have a big problem with liberal commentators, not that they're totally full of crap either.
  10. I've been in broadcasting for over 30 years, and know a LOT of high profile personalities. The toughest part of their job is filling their time slot with content, and MAKING it compelling. No ratings, and they lose the time slot. None of these guys are totally full of crap, but you gotta realize that their primary job is to get ratings. They have to fire up their audience, no matter how dull the story is to begin with. There is where the problem starts.
  11. Don't get me wrong... I have more confidence in my 45 than I do in my 9's, but I shoot about as well with each. I don't feel underpowered with a 9. It's still good enough for the US military, and a whole buttload of military and police around the world.
  12. My next 1911 will either be an RIA or a Springer loaded with a 4" barrel. I haven't had my hands on an RIA yet, but Belshire is on my list of stops. I would love to have one of the high end guns, but can't see buying one in the near future unless I get hit with an unexpected pile of mad money.
  13. Don't know if I agree with that. There are better rounds, but a 9 isn't exactly a pea shooter. Some folks handle a 9 better than the bigger stuff, and shot placement is a biggie. I'm a big fan of the .45 ACP, but some don't like the recoil, and it impacts their shot placement.
  14. I was defending Maddow. Where did you get the uneducated hick thing? Personally, I think Beck imbellishes some with subjects that I think are dead serious. I don't like the guy because of that. I already told you... I'm sick of people lying. We all need the facts right now. I have no problem with different points of view. I know a lot of liberals and a lot of conservatives. The consensus among the liberals I know is they they just wish these guys would quit lying. The real debate points keep getting covered up in crap. The debate is healthy. And yes, the conservative talkers get great ratings. That discovery saved AM radio, so my industry created more. Rush was the first, and the others came later. It's ALL about the ratings. When people realize that, we have made some progress.
  15. Who said I trust the people that passed healthcare? I said I trust myself, and my jury is still out. Not sure the media was a willing accomplice, since it was passed in congress by one party. I'm thinking CNN had little to do with it. Lets don't get into ratings. I know what created Rush, Beck, and Hannity. In fact, I know the people that did it. That's my industry. I don't think that education is the only criteria, but it's usually required in a commentator. These conservative talk (ex disk jockeys) are very successful with their audiences. That's why they came into being. Everyone should realize though that they're an entertainment product, not visionaries. I'm not stuck on degrees, but I make sure that part of my information comes from intellectuals. Education certainly isn't a bad thing
  16. I have always been fiscally conservative, and socially liberal. Right now, I'm just pissed off. I'm tired of being screwed by a wide range of folks... politicians, wall streeters, bankers, etc. I am totally convinced that the folks in DC, on both sides of the asle are out for themselves. Most people in that game are lying their butts off right now, and that includes a lot of broadcasters. I've said on this board before that I'm witholding judgement on the health care thing until I have a chance to read it MYSELF. There is so much spin coming from these "passionate real people" like Beck that I don't trust a word I hear from them. If you can't believe what you hear or read, how can you be a strong supporter of any of these clowns?
  17. Mark is an old friend, and one of the best guys I know. I haven't seen him since the shooting, but thought about him several times during this thread. I've wondered if his laid back demeanor has changed.
  18. You didn't bother to watch the video. It's from MSNBC's air. Doesn't matter which site the video lives on, 'cause it's not their content. Glen Beck is a disk jockey. Let's comapare the two bashees. Glen Beck: High school education Rachel Maddow: Undergrad degree, Stanford-Rhodes Scholar-PhD Politics, Oxford Rachel IS a man trapped in a woman's body Beck is a woman trapped in a man's body Beck is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, and suffers from ADHD. Sure, Beck is a conservative, and Maddow is a Liberal, but listening to both, I've always had the sense that Rachel is a better journalist, and Glen is a sensationalist. He has had a lot of moments when I agreed, it's hard to buy into somebody completely when they're such a snake oil salesman.
  19. If you like Glocks, get one. You can't go wrong with them.
  20. If they're against guns, I don't spend money there. Doesn't have to be a legal sign
  21. I gotta follow Spoolie. :-) Here's mine...
  22. I won't miss them either, 'cause i have a GS. The iPad is real slick, and will make lots of folks happy. I'm tethered to a laptop because of some work related stuff, so an iPad would be just an extra device I would have to carry around. Besides... I have a few guns left on my gotta have list
  23. Didn't mean that as a slam against KC. My impression was, real clean, real midwestern, and if not in the middle, at least on the edge of cow country. I call Omaha a cow town too BTW... I'm sure there are other radicals in town, but you're not going to hear them on major, mainstream stations like the Entercom KC stations.
  24. OK... Aquafina bottled drinking water.
