Sorry to hear this. It's a bad problem. I've heard some people say lately that in 20 years alcohol will be seen as the new tobacco. A lot more people are starting to talk about how terrible it is for us. I've known 3 people between 25-40 that have died from it.

Definitely not perfect, but better than most. The Taco recently sprang a big leak. $2k later I had a new rack and pinion and a new power steering pump. It is 17 years old though.
I'm still on my original 22 year old rack and pinion but I'm about to replace the inner tie rods. Last year I replaced the 21 year old alternator that was still working fine as preventative maintenance. I didn't want to get stranded in a remote spot while camping.

I'm also in the no car payment club.
I still have my 2002 Tundra. 191k miles. Last year we drove it from Knoxville to to the Grand Canyon and back. Planning on going to Moab, UT this year.
My wife's DD is a 2012 RAV4 we bought new and have no plans to get rid of. In 12 years the only repair I've had to make on it is a upper radiator hose.

I'm surprised this guy hasn't been found yet. Dead or alive. I'm sure someone is helping him.

A mechanic friend swears that newer vehicle engines generally don’t last as long due to thinner oil being used nowadays,
How new? I thought that modern engines are typically more reliable. 30-40 years ago going 150k miles was considered a lot. Most modern vehicles can do that with ease. Plenty of guys on the Toyota forum pushing 300-400k. A few have hit 1 million which is insane.

You can do that?
I thought you just had to live with it.
It would be nice if I could turn on an option “stuff I really need to know”, but it IS the government we’re dealing with here.
Yes. Go into your settings and search for it. Depending on what type of phone you have, it's not too hard to find and turn off.

Another heartless bastard here - as of this morning, I have Amber alerts and public safety alerts turned off. Do blue alerts fall under public safety alerts? And what time was that anyway?
I got two. One at 0023 and a second one at 0104. I don't have an option for Blue alerts so I turned off "public safety messages" this morning.

Sad situation. Hopefully he's caught without anyone else getting hurt.
Side note, am I the only heartless bastard that has amber alerts turned off? I don't have an option to turn the Blue alerts off.

Cost of living is way different in Washington ST than TN, he net'd more monies but not double..
27yr Ca transplant from San Diego, I took a massive pay cut moving here and I'm 100x better off
It's not remotely close to double. He paid the same amount for a house as I did in Knoxville and like TN, they have no state tax. His life is quite a bit better there than here. Who would want to do the same hard job for 50% less?

Dang, I'm not sure I want to get a Maryville-made S&W now. A friend of mine almost got hired when they opened the factory here last year but something fell through. I talked with a local gun dealer and he said that there are S&W assembly workers who are only making about $16/hr.
Companies like this aren't moving to TN out of kindness or some love for our state. They are doing it for cheap labor and a lower tax burden. Our pay here is substantially less than other parts of the country. As long as people keep walking in the door willing to assemble guns for $16/hour, they don't have to pay more. My friend left TN and moved to Washington St where he makes over $120k as a nurse. The same job in TN was paying him $55k.

I’ll bite. Our generation is quickly being pushed aside and generations younger have an entitlement personality that requires immediate fulfillment. I can’t lay all this at their feet because of the way we have enabled the younger generations.
I don't know what this has to do with anything. What generation of people do you think moved all the manufacturing overseas the last 50+ years? Here's a hint- it wasn't young people.

I have a Jackery 500. I also have their 60W solar panel but it doesn't work great. Wish I would have invested in a better one.

Recently I had ammo delivered. The box arrived and it was sealed but there was no ammo inside. Just some packing paper. Bass Pro sent me a replacement order.

I didn't read every response but it's crazy how versatile air fryers are. My wife uses ours to hard boil(fry?) Eggs. Soak them in cold water afterwards to make the shells easier to peel. We make a mean grilled cheese sandwich in ours too.

One thing for certain, what I saw and what the cops said happened didn’t line up in any of the videos.
And if not for that random street camera they may have been successful in covering it up. They cannot be trusted.

I'll never own a 2WD truck. There is nothing worse in snow. Even a Honda Civic would be better. I was thankful for my truck this week.

I think sun/shade makes a difference too. My neighbors that shovelled their driveway after the first day have remained dry and clear ever since, even after the rain.
A friend of mine has a flamethrower. I would have been a hero with that thing.

I'm not sure if I shared this but when we went to Finland in November our rental had studded snow tires. I was amazed at how much traction I had. They mandate snow tires there and do not use salt. They put down crushed gravel. Even the buses had no issue getting up and down snow covered hills. Never saw a single wreck. I'm a believer in studded snow tires.
Took me 15 minutes to get my wife's car out of our driveway this morning even with traction boards. This storm taught me you really have to shovel the snow before it turns to ice. I won't make that mistake again.

You'd think they would learn by now that this has no impact on us. If anything, it just distracts me and makes me less careful.

All this does is make the NRA look worse. They didn't do anything to fix this issue themselves and allowed it to continue for years. I'm not sure why anyone would look at this and think it proves the NRA might change for the better.
