  1. Initially it was for self defense. The restaurant I worked at was robbed at gunpoint one night which really opened my eyes. Now I love shooting. I also want to be prepared for some sort of SHTF event.
  2. I have a good friend who is currently in the process of becomming a FFL. He's in the final stages. He said the ATF agent was very helpful and professional. The only real issue he had to deal with as with the local zoning commission in order to run a business from his house.
  3. What I want to know is how these people are affording these vehicles. I make pretty good money(far more than average for TN) and I can't afford a $800+ car payment. All I can figure is that people must be in debt up to their ass.   Our 2012 Rav4 will be paid for in about 10 months. We plan on keeping it as long as possible. My 2002 Corolla is obviously paid off and I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off.   I just want a decent truck I can drive on the weekends and tow a small trailer with.
  4. It has 130k miles... For a GM that's a lot. I would expect major repairs in the next year or so. I can't swallow paying $20k for a vehicle with that many miles. YMMV
  5.   So true. Saturday I was looking at a used 2012 Silverado with 130,000 miles on it. They wanted $20K for it still.   It's ridiculous how much trucks are right now.
  6. I don't know about Biltmore but I've never seen any gunbuster signs while visiting Ashville. I'm always visiting the breweries so I leave the gun in my vehicle.
  7.   I'm also curious where this is.
  8. I don't think Glocks are going to go up in value but there will be people that collect them. In general, I don't think a polymer handgun is going hold up for 100 years.
  9. On my way to buy a Taurus Curve and Raspberry LCP...
  10. Of the guns that are currently produced, what do you think will be collectable in 30, 40, or 50 years?   I'm thinking some high end 1911's will hold their value well.   Also, I was thinking some of the less common Sig p238's might be valuable one day. Sig is currently making more version of these than I can keep track of.
  11. I'm glad to see you didn't get a .40 short and weak.   I'm really itching to get a Sig p227 one of these days.
  12. He must be one of those "moderate" Muslims we keep hearing about....
  13. Not to be curt, but how exactly would a rifle in the trunk help in that scenario? You would have been swarmed when you parked and tried to make it to your trunk. I understand the desire to have a long gun on hand but so far the scenarios I'm hearing just don't seem to be practical. Again, more power to you guys if you feel a rifle is good peace of mind. I just don't want to risk an AR getting stolen from my vehicle.
  14. I tried to take inventory of how many AR mags I have and I lost count. I want approximately 50 that way I can sell some during the next panic. Right now I have around 35.   For handguns I'm shooting for 10 per gun.
  15.   Care to share the link?
  16. You haven't been paying attention here. It's because of those Mooslim terrorists that are so abundant here in Tennessee... :ugh:     ;)     I think it's far more likely that the long gun would be stolen from a vehicle than a scenario where I might need one. Hell, even if I did need one I find it unlikely that I'd have time to get it out of my trunk.   I'll continue carry my Glock 19 in my car and hope I don't need it. For those of you carrying an AR with a 1,000 rounds, more power to you! I hope I won't be asking you for help someday if I run dry with my Glock.
  17.   I know exactly what you meant and you dodged my question.   You are presuming that these college kids attending the CCW class are all conservative which is funny because I think you were one of the "don't lump all muslims together" commentators.
  18.   Even for you, this is a childish post. Using this logic, only conservatives get CCW permits?   What does that make you then?
  19.   I wonder why Coyotes are able to thrive while wolves cannot? I have a friend  in Roane County( just outside Lenoir city) that kills coyotes on a regular basis. I mean all the time.
  20.   While I believe you that these are probably awesome I have no idea what you're talking about. Can you post a picture of what this will look like. I love knives but I'm definitely not a guru like some of you.   What makes this one so special/different?   thanks!
  21. I had a friend on Facebook last night try to tell me that we need stricter background checks. He clarified by saying that anyone who wishes to purchase a firearm must first meet with a psychiatrist.   I couldn't do anything but laugh.
  22. Thanks everyone. Sounds like a much better process than the first time I got my HCP.
  23.   I get what you're saying and I like the VP9, but I've also seen Glocks perform better than this under the same conditions.   That being said, this probably isn't a big enough sample size to determine if the VP9 is inferior to the Glock ( or others).
  24. Geeze...21 yards? That's going to be difficult with my wife's pocket gun..She may have to attempt it with something else.   We just applied online so I'm assuming that eliminate the trip to the DMV.
