  1. Anybody else sipping any of the 4 Roses Private Select offerings?
  2. Do you have a taste for scotch? If not I would try to sample some at a bar before you pick up a whole bottle. The Scotch influence is all over Japanese Whiskey.
  3. Will throw out that Jordan B Peterson is doing a 12 part podcast on the psychology behind the biblical stories and so far I have found it to be tremendous. And I am in no way religious.
  4. Thank you, everyone. As you may have gathered I'm pretty proud of the little guy!
  5. Two months ago we welcomed this young patriot into the world. Last week one of my best friends in the world got back from his first deployment with the absolute elite of the elite SF in the Army. He brought this home for my son, and I won't lie about it...I choked up. This little fella has made me all kinds of soft. This flag represents all that I think is great about our country, and is easily my most prized possession. I hope I raise this young patriot to love this country half as much as the steely eyed freedom fighter that faced our enemies under this flag in Syria. Caption on flag reads: "This flag was flown by the first American forces to enter and assault Raqqa, Syria on 14 June 2017. It was raised to honor and celebrate the birth and lifelong freedom of Wyatt Patrick. OPPRESSORS BEWARE"
  6. Whistlefly, if you have an extra EHT Small Batch I'd be glad to purchase from you. I picked up a bottle recently and loved it, haven't sen one since.
  7. I just picked up a store pick bottle of Whistlepig. Absolutely tremendous pour if you're into rye.
  8. I would suggest that the difference in taste you are experiencing in the Glencairn is most likely the concentration of aroma from out of the glass. I will only use a rocks glass anymore for mixed drinks or something I know I will have on the rocks, otherwise I'm exclusively using the Glencairn glass because I love the smells I find now almost as much as the taste.
  9. Review of the Bourbon Trail, and a few pics attached. Fair warning, I did not take a ton of pictures. I'll start by saying that Maker's Mark was head and shoulders above the rest, and I took 12 tours. They just knocked it out of the park. Even if you don't enjoy their products the tour is worth the trip. The next tier belongs to Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey, and Jim Beam, and Bulleit (Stitzel). They were all pretty great. Angels Envy was also surprisingly cool, well worth a stop if you're in Louisville. These I would make it a point to visit if you're on the trail, even if you don't care for their product. The drive in to Woodford is worth it alone, absolutely stunning. The rest were all pretty meh. The tasting bar at 4 Roses is good, but the grounds are decidedly average. The remainder are fairly unremarkable, so unless you are a fan of a certain product, or are looking for an offering only sold at the distillery, I wouldn't consider them worth the time or drive.
  10. Over the last 6 months I have gone all in on Bourbon, it has become a bit of an obsession. What you're describing is pretty much exactly how I got started. There is nothing wrong with sourced whiskey, a lot of folks do it. Just drink what you like, how you like it. My only piece of advice is don't get your heart set on Elmer T Lee based off the hight praise in this thread, you'll never see a bottle in the wild!
  11. I gotcha! Pics and a review will be coming along shortly.
  12. Just finished up the Bourbon Trail. The whiskey collection has blossomed over the last few days!
  13. Stopped in Monday night and they had 2 bottles this time. Now I'm all set!
  14. Agreed. So much so that this is my second bottle of it!
  15. Thanks, I stopped by there on my way home from Kingsport yesterday. No Blantons, but I did pick up a bottle of Yellow Spot for a great price.
  16. They've been in this ballpark with the ptac line for awhile now. But, I agree with above, well worth it for a truck gun/beater AR.
  17. Anybody know where I could pick up a bottle of Blanton's in East Tn? I can't lay hands on a bottle in Chatty, but I cover all the way up to Kingsport for work.
  18. Congrats! I'm in the exact same boat right now. I had to let go of my buddy this summer, and just got a new pup 2 weeks ago. He's nonstop but I love him already!
  19. The wife got me a bottle of St. George Single Malt for Christmas this year. I had a taste this morning, couldn't help myself. Wow!!!!!
  20. I believe the purchase will be finalized in January. I'm curious to see how many Cabelas locations survive the acquisition.
  21. I live in Chattanooga, but work takes me to Kingsport frequently. Can I count as like half in?
  22. Thank you for the recommendations. Yes, we are only looking at Golden Retrievers this time. We are thoroughly vetting the breeders we have come across so far, and I'm only interested in dealing locally where I can see the parents and be on site. Which is probably why I've had such a difficult time finding what I'm after.
  23. Thank you all for the replies. There are some good places to start there. I'm very tempted by a few of the rescue goldens, but I'm on the road more for work these days and don't have the time required to rehab those beautiful pups. Also, I appreciate the recommendation for shelter dogs. I will probably go that route when we get ready for a second, but on this go round I'm firmly settled on another golden retriever.
  24. Was eyeing this as well. Any feedback on their 1911 line?
  25. Hello TGO, We had to let go of our best buddy this summer and since then all I've been hearing from the 7 year old is how bad he wants another pup. It took me a minute to let go of the hurt from putting down my pal this summer, but now I think it's time. I'm quite partial to Golden Retrievers, but I haven't been able to find one that isn't $2000 and up. This is going to be a family dog, not a show pup. I do prefer AKC certified just for long term health reasons. Does anyone here know of a reputable breeder that is anywhere within a reasonable driving distance from Chattanooga? Any recommendations for Golden Retrievers will be greatly appreciated, thank you!
