  1.  I don't understand the united states' aversion to allowing educated individuals immigrate, while at the same time we bring a million impoverished individuals from all over the 3rd world and grant them citizenship...   :usa:  :surrender:   Funny you mention MS and PhD. Go to Canada - they'll welcome you with open arms.
  2. Have you looked at Athens, TN?  It's got a historic feel to it, a college, and an interesting past (look up the battle of athens).   welcome home back to the south.  Good luck in your search!
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNcpJwu0I5I   did you see this one?
  4. My brother hunts hogs in Texas with dogs and a knife.
  5. has what ever happened, and illegal search by the police? http://foxnewsinsider.com/2014/02/11/dc-man-set-hearing-after-cops-raid-turned-one-shotgun-shell
  6. Don't know if you all saw this yet.     " If you have purchased an 80% lower receiver from a storefront location or over the Internet from any vendor, I think it is safe to assume that the federal government either has your customer data, or is in the process of trying to obtain your customer data. If you want a truly anonymous 80% lower, pay cash via a private sale, the same as you would with a serialized firearm."   http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2014/03/17/despite-restraining-order-atf-raids-ares-armory-over-plastic-parts-n1810321   http://bearingarms.com/video-atf-raids-ares-armor-with-automatic-weapons-cracks-safe/
  7. how about I take a picture of myself with a bunch of guns and say "my gun number is 15" or however many I am holding... Heh.
  8. I too make my own detergent (both laundry and dishwasher) - neither uses baking soda - though you can convert baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to washing soda (sodium carbonate) by baking it in the oven for an hour at 400degrees.  While my regular detergent recipe does not call for baking soda, I will ad a scoop when the towels are extra smelly or the whites need brightening. Add a splash of vinegar and bam. P.S. I got a great deal on baking soda at publix the other day - 2 boxes for $.95 (like 2.2c/ounce) I stocked up.  (bulk at same and costco is right about the same price but then you have to have/buy a membership and buy a 13 lb bag...)
  9. CDNN has factory mags for 14.99 and free shipping over $49 with code fs49 until Monday. Ordered 3 more for my 22/45. Have bushing and volquartsen sear in mine. Lovely shooter. My favorite pistol in 22
  10. I "pulled the trigger" on one of these the other day because when I saw the price from CDNN I felt like an idiot passing on it. $239 plus 9.99 shipping, and it was here in 2 days. I've read the mixed reviews on these just like everyone else so I was a little skeptical. But again, for the price, it was a great deal. I had some spare parts lying around that I used to throw an extra lower together with - Ive always wanted a dedicated 22 in an AR platform. The fit of the upper was snug. The front pin was no problem but I had to push down firmly to get the rear pin in. No slop. That's good. A few observations: yes the front sight was canted to the left - an easy fix with an Allen wrench. No reason to complain, especially since I planned on just using a red dot on it. Oh, and the barrel nut is hand tight... But it's a 22... Snug it up and readjust the hand guard angle... Again, no big deal. I put a primary arms micro dot on the rail and was ready to go. The manual suggests 100-150 round break in period. I used federal lightning that I picked up at my LGS for the first 100 rounds. The 2nd round was a FTF. From the magazine not being loaded properly. There is a little extra room in the factory mag for rounds to side stack slightly. This caused them to not stay pointing up. Just pay attention when loading to make sure not to pull too far down on the loading assist button which causes the rounds to drop. (That doesn't make a lot of sense Unless you're sitting here looking at it but if You are than it does. Sorry. The next 398 rounds went off more or less without a hitch. Some FTE (4 total) caused by holding the trigger down after firing and not releasing. Not sure why that happens, but I it fires and you let the trigger return, there was never an issue. Once I figured that out, it was ripping through whole mags without a hiccup. I'd say it was the most fun I've had for the money with a gun in a long time. And I like that I can afford to shoot all afternoon with it. Accuracy was only tested on a 25 yard range - my buddy's back yard. I hit the little metal spinner target every time... Good enough for me. I'd say its more accurate than I am. The one thing that drives me nuts is the bolt hold open is activated by the magazine. The bolt catch doesn't work. It makes clearing a jam a 3 handed operation... Worth $250? I'd probably just buy another 10/22 if I had $250 burning a hole in my pocket... That being said though, it was nice to be in the drivers seat of an AR platform for several hours and only spend like $30 in ammo.
  11. Anyone consider stashing a pit-bike at work or near work? The little 110/125 cc Chinese motorcycles are the ones I'm talking about. Buy one for a couple hundred bucks and keep it stashed somewhere. They can carry 200-250 lbs or beef it up with stronger springs if needed. It isn't gonna win any races but faster than a bicycle and better than a car. A traffic jam is no problem when you're on a bike... Stick to the shoulder or median. Or the woods. I mean I have a collection of 50cc mopeds that with their 1 and 2 speed automatic transmissions will get me moving 30mph. I figure a 125cc pit bike will at least match that performance in a more compact package. Just thinking of options. Even if all it can do is get you a little closer home, It's worth it. I saw the electric scooter option up in the thread but after EmP, that is useless unless you shield the electronics. Also from a cost perspective, you could buy a fleet of pit bikes for everyone in your group for a minimal investment.
  12. For years I kept my su-16c with several loaded mags under the 3 row seat of my Volvo station wagon (soccer mom stealth) I have a Keltec sub-9 now and am considering that as a more concealable option. They are great guns without an optic - anyone can pick up and shoot accurately. I feel a good option for my wife.

  14. I'm curious now too as I live in Chattanooga... Any interest in an AR grip and Trigger guard (standard style stuff) also a disconnector spring
