1. Bill's Outpost (in Maryville) gets them every so often. I've picked up a box here and there since I have a hand-me-down rifle my uncle gave my dad that shoots both short and LR.
2. Thanks! I'll have to check this out and see if it'll do the trick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3. Glad you found one that works. I just looked that up since we've been having some issues with my 16 year old niece. She keeps making up new emails and Facebook accounts to get around her grandmother knowing her passwords. Bummed though since it has to be installed on a jailbroken device and her iPhone cannot be jailbroken since it's running iOS 10. [emoji853] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
4. I've never tried the Taurus, although hubby has a TCP he keeps around as his backup carry. I've been happy with my LC9s (not the Pro version, mine has a thumb safety which I preferred having since it's frequently moved from vehicle to vehicle and the extra handling without a safety made me nervous). I can't take it into the office with me, but it stays in the car tucked into a nylon holster locked in the console. When I get out somewhere other than work I clip the holster into my front pocket and it disappears. Perfect size, even with the LaserMax laser guard added. And yeah, before you give me crap about the laser, I know how to shoot the gun.. the dot is just there for intimidation. Works great when someone pulls into your driveway late at night, cuts the engine and sits there. Red dot in their rear view mirror makes them think twice about getting out and you don't see that car again. Where I live, you don't call 911 until it's time to pick up the body cause it'll be at least two hours before they get there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
5. I carry my Ruger LC9s in my pocket all the time. (Which is saying something since pockets on women's jeans are traditionally smaller than men's). I had an LC9 which I never used the safety on because of the long trigger but with the striker fire I use it. Even with the LaserMax laser guard it's still an easy carry. If I do have pants with pockets that don't accommodate it, the holster I use doubles as an IWB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
6. No I think this one was yours... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
7. The striker fired LC9s is a huge improvement over the original LC9. I own both and after carrying my LC9 for over a year, it's now sitting in the gun cabinet and the 9s goes with me daily. Love the new trigger in the LC9s. A few other often overlooked (in the ads) changes are the removal of the big red pop-up loaded chamber indicator and a minor redo of the manual safety. The LC9 safety always seemed stiff to me and not simmering I'd ever consider actually using because I didn't want to fiddle with it in a stressful situation. I never used it because I figured the LC9's trigger was enough to keep me from firing accidentally during unholstering. The LC9s safety is easier to move with the thumb and smoother. I still don't use it, but if I did, I'd feel better about it. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 4
8. 1. 2. 3. Probably grab one of the swords off the wall or just flatten em with the Xterra.
9.
There is a distinction between corporate stores and franchise stores. Bud's in TN is a franchise store, from what I understand. In some situations (think Subway) the franchises may participate in the sales promotions of the franschise licensor. In other cases, they don't. I have found no mention of the TN store on the regular budsgunshop.com site. They are not advertising for the new TN store. I'm sorry for your wasted time and frustration. Funny enough, it never even crossed my mind to expect the same prices as the Bud's site we all know and love/loath.
Looks like advertising to me. Note the email address.. Just sayin...
10.
I learned a long time ago to make a call & ask questions before driving 2-3 hours round trip for something.
Well that's all fine and dandy, but considering every other place I've ever been (I never shop walmart on line and rarely in store) has always matched their online prices I don't really agree that one should have to call every store they plan on visiting before hand to make sure the price they advertise is what they'll charge. I recently had picked out an item I wanted from Amazon but didn't want to wait on shipping. Walked into Best Buy, found it, showed them the Amazon page on my phone and walked out paying Amazon's price. And further more, people were asking for prices on their Facebook page and all they ever got was "come see us" and "we don't have a price list" available at this time. It's like Dave says... They're just using the Buds name to get people in the store so they can charge what they want. Poor business model if you ask me. But of course there people who are fine with it, just like every other crappy thing out there... Otherwise how can we explain why the same worthless law makers keep getting re-elected. 😒 As for us, we will not be back. It's the principle of the thing now... Just like Wally World. They think they're bigger and better and the rules don't apply.. Well they can be bigger without my money. This wasn't a gun. This was a box of ammo. $30 on a firearm purchase is one thing but $30 on ammo.. I should have been able to buy almost three boxes for what they wanted to charge me for two because they refused to honor the prices that they sent to me in an email. When you get an email saying "Buds is open in Tennessee" and the same email address comes back the next day with prices on ammo.. With ABSOLUTELY NO mention of varying prices per location or "online price only" they should be expected to honor that price everywhere.
11. We'll consider me unimpressed. I don't know that the hubby and myself will return honestly. He sent me there yesterday to get some .223 ammo that was being advertised in an email. 120 round mini ammo cans for $39.99. After walking around the store and peeking through the glass to see how the range was coming along I made my way to the counter in search of the ammo. They had about 6 of them sitting on the shelf behind the counter. I asked the guy if I could see one to confirm it was what I was there for and after comparing tho the email I said I'd take two. Hubby was on the phone with me and freaked when he heard the guy say the price was $54.99. He swore I had the wrong thing which I assured him was not the case. Course the guy who handed me the ammo had basically dropped it and ran off after mumbling something that vaguely sounded like "pay up front". So I'm standing there, two boxes of ammo and my phone in my hand when another dude walks up and says "if you're looking at the online price it doesn't work here." Umm what?? He proceeded to tell me that "we aren't buds online, we're like cousins of theirs and we don't have the same sales. If you want that price you'll have to order it online and pay shipping so it'll still cost more." At this point I just stared at him... Really.. I drove over an hour to get here, to pay $30over the advertised price. He then GRABBED my phone out of my hand and started clicking the links in the email to show me how much I'd have to pay for shipping and fees to get that ammo from buds online. When he couldn't find it, he dropped my phone back on the counter. I told him he could put those back up because I wasn't playing those games. He was still looking at his phone when I walked out the door. So yeah. They're playing the "we are not the same company" card for more than just sales tax. Buyer beware, add in the local tax at the store to the fact that they basically charge whatever they want regardless of Buds prices and it may not be as great as it sounds. We'd rather support the local guy in our own county anyway.
12.   Hmm.. I hadn't thought about that before.. do you glue in both pieces of cardboard or just the one over the shot?  How well do they hold up to loading/unloading/handling/carrying, etc?
13. We've been searching everywhere for shotshells for a 38spl.  We have the reloader equipment to make our own, but the only place I've been able to find the empty capsules is online and the shipping is insane.     Has anybody seen any floating around locally? (Knox/Blount/Sevier County areas?)
14. I've seen women at Frontier (Kingston), Stars & Stripes (Maryville), Coal Creek (Knoxville) and Nashville Armory (Nashville obviously).  Couldn't say if they were owners, spouses or just employees but I find they are usually more honest.  In a gun shop, I've noticed you either have guys who know a lot or guys who don't but assume you know even less.  They don't like to admit they don't know something and will make up an answer where a woman is more likely to say "I don't know" and offer to help you research the answer.  I prefer to deal with honesty any day.   Good luck! Where is your shop gonna be??
15. I seem to have lost my posting privileges at sine point since I was last here... roughly for years ago considering I was still in the process of getting my permit, which is now expiring in April. I live in a little one horse town (actually I think there are two) between the Foothills Parkway and North Carolina. Hubby and I are both permit holders, reloaders and occasional hunters. He drives a truck and I work in Knoxville. When I'm not working I'm usually somewhere hanging out with our two shepherds (one registered GSD and a GSD/Belgian Malinois mix). 16. Oh that's great news! Just saw the email and posted it on my Facebook wall. Guess I can go take that down now that she's home and safe! I love happy endings! All to often that doesn't happen in situations like this. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 4
17. NO! I don't like the idea of someone snatching it and taking my gun or having to fumble to get it if I truly need to draw. I use an IWB holster with my Bersa Thunder 380. The Bersa is big enough to look intimidating yet small and light enough (I have the two-tone one) that it doesn't drag my clothes down. I can wear it with most of my shorts (sometimes adding a belt since I have lost some weight and they tend to be loose on me now). I'm not allowed to have it at work, so it stays in my locked truck while there, and I'll admit sometimes I forget to put it on when I get off work, but hubby reminds me when he's home. LOL I've thought about putting it in my purse at work... even though I'd definitely be fired if it was ever found, but I don't want to leave it in there. I really don't like the idea of having to leave it in my truck either. I find it quite interesting that I had to go through a background check and be fingerprinted to get this job, yet they don't trust me with a weapon knowing that we deal with highly sensitive and desirable information. *sigh* Carrying my gun felt really awkward at first, and I felt like EVERYBODY knew I had a gun! But I've been carrying for a almost a year now and nobody has ever noticed. Only my family knows I have one. I wore mine around the house for a few weeks to get used to the feel of it. I started with a Walther P22 which is slightly bigger and weighs a slight bit more than my Bersa. After the P22, the Bersa practically disappears and I usually forget I have it until I kneel down or sit and it's pointed the wrong way. I highly recommend wearing one aroudn the house, where you feel comfortable. You'll soon learn where and how you want your gun positioned and then when you step out into public with it, you have the confidence of knowing HOW to wear it.
18. They sent out another email yesterday ADMITTING they were the source of the card numbers being compromised. They've supposedly changed their systems to FINALLY be PCI compliant now (ie. no more storage of card numbers... they neglected to inform their customers they were violating Visa/MC TOS all along by storing those anyway, but I digress). Yes, the one-time card numbers are nice, but I don't use CREDIT cards so that's not usually an option with a check card. But I do have to give credit where credit is due.. KTVAECU did an outstanding job of catching the fraud activity and reporting it to us. Hubby had received a phone calll that he didn't answer... it was them calling to check on a suspicious-looking transaction. Since he didn't answer, they blocked it and closed the card. Two charges, one for $6 and one for $700 were authorized, the next one for $369 was blocked. When he tried to use the card himself, it declined because they'd already closed it. So he called the number on the card and they informed him of the fraud and that they had tried to call to verify it but closed the account to protect us since they could not confirm. They put the funds for the other two charges back on the account... all of this happening within 24 hours. I know people who have fought with credit card companies for weeks and sometimes MONTHS over stuff like this. So I'm very happy with the way the credit union handled it. But again.. if you have EVER used Bud's... CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT! ...and expect the prices to be a little higher now since they're gonna have to pay back all those airline tickets that were bought using their customer's stolen account numbers.

CDL info

Sorry guys, I just gotta jump in here for a minute and say something about schools. There are ALOT of shady ones out there, and the comment made earlier about a good school having their own tester is NOT true. Those are the ones that will pass a driver just for being able to start a truck in order to keep up their completion stats. Avoid them. You're better off in the long run with a school that will teach you how to drive the truck then take you down to the DOT and let them test you. I took a 10 week course at Tennessee Technology Center to get my CDL. We covered EVERTYTHING from Pre-Trip to various backing scenarios, parallel parking, docking, ALL the safety rules and even logging. At the end of the 10 weeks we went to Straw Plains for our test. The Pre-Trip was a piece of cake for me since EVERYDAY we each had to go through the list with someone checking it off as we went. Had it memorized.. in order. I missed 1 point on the PT exam at the DOT... because I grabbed the seatbelt but didn't TELL her I was checking it. *sigh* Of course, if he's gotta have one in 2 weeks, this probably won't help matters much... but if you have some time to think about it and you're considering it.. it's a lot cheaper than going through the 2-week "Crash Course" CDL schools (About 1/3 of the cost). There was a waiting list though so it's certainly not something you can just call them up and start doing. Took me 6 months to get into the class once I registered. Another thing.. the physical... if you haven't had a physical in a while, get that first. They're kind of picky about stuff... if your blood pressure isn't stellar it might cause you problems. That seems to be the biggest trip-up followed closely by undiagnosed and untreated diabetes. But anyway.. just had to say there are SOME people who get out of schools that do well. Course it might just be cause I'm a woman and everybody knows we're smarter.
20. Hubby bought a nice little Bushmaster .223 from them about a month ago... Transaction went VERY well. Got an awesome price. The guy ont he online chat was really helpful when I was asking him questions about it. They shipped it and it was here in less than a week. All went well... UNTIL yesterday. A few days ago hubby got an email saying they were shutting down credit card processing because there were reports from customers of fraudulent charges on their credit cards. Hubby didn't really pay much attention to it because he knew i watch the accounts like a hawk. So yesterday, when he got a call from a company called "Fi Serve" he decided to wait until I got home to see what it was about. He called a local pizza place to get dinner delivered and his check card was declined. Seemed rather odd when he's buying $30 worth of pizza on an account with over $1900 in it. So he called the number on the back of the card and was informed told they had cancelled the card because someone was making apparently fraudulent charges and they could not reach him to verify them. Turns out there was a $6.90 transaction with a Candlewood Inn (just to make sure the card was working) followed by a $700 charge with some company called "LAIT" and a $369 transaction to Caribbean Air (they blocked this one). A little searching has turned up HUNDREDS of Bud's customers who have seen the same thing in recent days. So if you do use Bud's... I'd suggest a pre-paid card or money order!
21. Just got a new two-tone Bersa Thunder 380 two weeks ago. Using an IWB holster with it currently. Its very light and small enough to hide unless I'm wearing stretchy jeans then it tries to print so I just wear a longer looser shirt.
22. Definitely take the hunters safety course. As others have said it is required. He can't take it until he's 10 though. You should definitely make it a family event though. Show him you are interested and learn some safety yourself. He'll get to shoot a shotgun at the end but don't worry... Someone will be there to help him. Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
23. Gunny's in Maryville. Women shoot free on Sundays and they often run other free times such as Valentine's Day weekend and Mother's day. Bought my P22 there l last V-day and got to shoot it all day for free.
24. Which Walther did you get her? I have a Walther P22 and love it! Fits great in my hands and its such a fun little target gun! Hubby has a Sig Mosquito and wants to trade it for a P22. I had been carrying it since last year until yesterday. I got a Bersa Thunder 380 to use as my carry gun. It feels just a good as my Walther but makes for bigger holes. Hubby has been carrying a Makarov despite having a 9mm because of the size and I always stile it when he was on the road. My Bersa is the same size but has a much easier to find ammo. Get her some Personal Defense rounds to use for carrying.
25. Back in February I got a Walther P22 and the hubby bought a Sig Mosquito for himself. We've been to the range maybe once a month and each time would blast through no less than 300-400 rounds. My P22 has performed like a champ each time. We started them with range ammo (CCI Blazers). They both did well with them so we bought a bulk pack of the same ammo. Towards the end of the box, the mosquito started having issues with misfeeds. Keep in mind, both guns are thoroughly cleaned after EVERY trip to the range. Hubby was thinking maybe it was the lead bullets causing his problems so he purchased a bulk pack of some sort of Federal hollow points (Walmart I think). The Walther ate through it's portion and some of the Mosquito's since it kept hanging... hubby found it worked a little better with a less-than-full magazine, but frequently had the gun fail to cycle fully after shooting. Picked up a box of CCI Mini Mags (once we found them.. dang those things sell out quick!) and he had the same problem. I am currently working on demolishing another bulk pack... Remington hollow points this time. These are the only rounds my Walther has had issue with. Shot 200 of them Sunday and had 4 misfeeds. ... Hubby's Sig.. He shot 4 rounds and had to put it back in the case. A pin came out from behind his trigger. Going to have to send it back to Sig. I were talking and (sorta) laughing about it on the way home that day... everybody had cautioned us against the Walther and said the Sig was a better gun. Hubby says now that if someone were to walk up and offer to trade him a P22 for his Mosquito, he'd tear their hand off trying to get the P22 out of it. Very disappointed in the Sig. Looked up the warranty info.. seems we have to ship the gun to Sig PREPAID... ugh. Looks like we'll be taking up the local gunsmith on his offer to ship it for us.
