  1. I like the EOTEC set forward with a magnifier behind it. With the 552 you can pick the caliber reticle and the unit shuts off after a period of time to save the battery it also works with NV equiptment but being color blind that does me no good. Product: 552.A65/1 | L-3 EOTech Holographic Weapons Systems A link for more info.
  2. Jamie: I heard a lot of "we did our best" and it usually came down to following the examples set by the parents or the parents wanting to be more lenient with the children. Having been raised in a dysfunctional family i made it a point to study people and relationships. That has been my main hobby throughout my adult life. Did I make mistakes? Sure! Did I learn from them? Who knows! But I continue watching and experiencing life where ever it may lead.
  3. This thread is a very good example of the wisdom from the mouths of children that want to argue with those twice their age as if the older ones have less experience than the young ones. This thread was origionally about the law concerning a FELON shooting a gun. But with wisdom some decided to change it into what describes a felon or if a felon should be given a second chance. Then it turned the corner to describe what makes a man who he is with the 20 somethings considering themselves the experts. Got to love the KIDS! This is a good example of a minority providing a description of youth that the majority of youth do not follow. From experience I have seen that the majority of youth actually respect the experiences of older people.
  4. A suggestion! why not get acquainted with the neighbors to see if you could park a travel trailer on their property some where. I set up a location for a trailer pad with water and electricity. It took me from February to the middle of April to get the work done as I was planning to travel for a couple of years. By the time the land was set up I decided I no longer wanted to travel and set about having my house put together. I have talked to a few people that have vacant property near and offered them the opportunity to park an RV here until they could get their place ready. The first month was traveling 30 miles each way to a camp ground where the trailer was parked. The wiring and plumbing being stolen is common even around here and those who do that are aware of who they are targeting and when they are not around. An RV pad with water, power and septic would be alright if the power is underground and every thing is tightly locked in a block well house so it is protected from vandals.
  5. This is a case of Been There, Done That in both instances. It is a part of experiencing life. We gain life experience by enduring minor situations and maturity by how we react in these life situations. The exciting thing is how very common a blown engine has been in many peoples lives throughout the years and the out of wedlock teen age pregnancy, while not as common is an every day occurrence as is the interracial portion of the experience. Welcome to the everyday happening of life that many here have already experienced.
  6. We have a Penguin that knows how to hold a shot gun for home defense!!!!

Adam: Which river? I almost built in Hancock county but found a place just down the river from you if you are close to Clinch River.
  8. Mike357: I used to use Velcro but then I forgot how to untie them so I had to go back to regular boots. I did know a few that put zippers in their steel toed boots to replace the laces. A fellow worker was an AP in the Air Force and others wanted to follow his lead. I thought it was a neat idea but it did not work for me.
  9. Old Goat: About the time you were graduating from High School I married my 3rd wife and acquired step children 18, 20, and 24 along with grand children 4,3, 2 and 1. Step son had the 2 older and step daughter had the 2 younger. We adopted the oldest grand daughter within a year. I recall before retiring that we had a young one on the crew that thought he had the answers and wanted to prove his great knowledge by disagreeing with the older members of the crew. One person told him to show respect as I was old enough to be his father. My reply to that was that I had been dating his mother before he was born so could indeed have been his father which really set him off. He appeared to show a bit more respect after he asked his mother if she had indeed dated me before he was born. The mother called and told me about it laughing the entire time she was telling me. I was not his father as I married wife 3 rather than his mother. It is not age in years but in years of experience that matters. I know a whole bunch of people that lived in a cocoon their entire lives and still believed the same fairy tales at 60 as they did at 15.
  10. I will limit my comments to agreeing with Mike357 and a few of the older posters.
  11. I do believe there is a criminal penalty for those who knowingly provide a felon access to a weapon.
  12. The hi-Point is limited to hi-point mags and the same with the Beretta. I went with the Sub 2000 and Glock mags. That has its own issues but is fun to shoot for a 350 to 400 gun in 9 or 40.
  13. 45 LC or 44 mag Rugers will put a big hole in paper or far a larger hole: Shoot 000 buck or a slug. The Judge can be shot single action. Taurus also makes single action pistols but my favorite was a Ruger 44 mag in the 70s. It would even shoot through cardboard. Like the one in the previous post!!!!!! Get a 6 inch barrel it controls the recoil better in whatever caliber you shoot.
  14. This is a bit cheaper conversion kit Just take the Magazine out of your Glock and put it in a SUB2000 With tax stamp and all it will be less than half price because this does not need a tax stamp.
  15. I have a photo share site where I put my pictures and click on the little tree then place a link to the photo in the box when it comes up.
  16. My wife and my cousin's wife have the same issue with a Glock. I had to but the wife a Sig so she could get over this issue. If she concentrated on her shooting she was OK but was not really comfortable. With the Sig P239 40 she Just picked it up and started shooting without a problem.
  17. Living in the "Country" and having moved here 4.5 years ago from a "Big" city atmosphere I can say that Lester is right. We have a neighbor that moved out here from Knoxville a few years before I moved here and she still wants to change the area to fit her view of what country is. She sets up "counciling sessions" for those that need to come to terms with living in the country and wants to have "Group Go to the mall" events. She is still an outsider as well as some other neighbors that recently bought and built. I moved here because this is the lifestyle I wanted and it is my Bug Location. The neighbors for the most part have accepted me and maybe it is because my Great grand mother was raised 3 miles from my current home or that a bunch of my cousins are near by. Push comes to shove out here we have livestock of various types in the neighborhood and Kitchen Gardens that can produce enough for 4 times the population in the area. We already are the BOL for some Suburb Dwellers that moved to the city for work and have vacant acreage in the area that can also become productive as it is currently regenerating from being over farmed in the earlier days. I would recommend to buy property, leave it dormant, get to know the neighbors and socialize with them, Offer to let them grow crops or hay on your property, ask if you can do weekend gardening on their land, Just come around and talk, learn from the locals what works best for them. When you need it the property will be there for you and in a case like where I live there is room for others that are willing to do their fair share until they have their own place built on their land. My wife's daughters are slowly moving here and there is room for them to build.
  18. Letereat: Personal observations: Here in the country we have a location about a mile away with a transit population where from time to time shots are fired. In response from time to time 12 gauge rounds are blasted in response. That is one of the reasons I set up my range. A few items came up missing around the barn before I started practicing but recently all things are accounted for. So I agree with letting it be known you are armed. Having quit drinking some years ago I will not comment on Guns and alcohol of even alcohol in general. I no longer hear shots being fired from any direction around my place and the poaching has been reduced also. We used to find evidence of poachers in the empty fields where deer frequented but not lately. I also believe the shots fired reduced the number of off road riders that want to ride the ridge behind my place and drive past the "No Trespassing" signs. There is no recent evidence of that either.
  19. I understood what you were saying and was adding to it. The fact the data base has obsolete information is a good thing as that overloads the system and the users of the information doubt its accuracy. If questioned you only need answer the weapon was sold or misplaced long ago. Better yet you can truthfully say I do not recall what became of it! I do not recall where I left my keys this morning or the last time I saw them. What keys?!!! Your comments reminded me of past experiences regarding this issue.

  21. When I lived in Nevada they knew every handgun I owned because Nevada registers handguns. If you live in a state that does register then it is possible the information will be there but as your example showed the weapons were not removed from the records when the guns were disposed of. As far as visiting Canada you can not take a weapon into Canada. I was thinking of traveling through Canada after I retired so I sold what guns I had at the time as I was going to be living out of an RV. State laws and Canada laws convinced me not to have long guns or handguns in my vehicle unless I was willing to part with them. As has already been mentioned Buy at a Gun Show or from an individual and the transaction is not recorded anywhere. The down side is you have no guarantee the weapon is not on a hot sheet somewhere. Talking to my LGS that has a store in Kentucky also he advised that a lot of the weapons he takes in trade at that store are found on a hot sheet if he transfers them and sells them in Tennessee because Kentucky does not do a check on the weapon. If you do buy a weapon that is on the sheet for whatever reason you stand to have it confiscated if you do a trade in. I watched as a person was not allowed to retrieve his weapon from a gun store after having the gun fixed because they had to do a check for whatever reason and it came back negative.
  22. OhShoot: you go over to the So called Muslim countries that are considered having religious tolerance by WIKI or GOOGLE and proselytize. Some , Well most, of the so called Muslim countries have a secular government rather than one that follows Muslim law. We are not even talking Apples and Oranges here regarding this as it becomes "Fruit Salad" Due to the variety of government types in those countries. If I made a claim regarding "Muslim Countries" it was about Countries that are governed according to Muslim law as those are the only Muslim countries. The others are just countries that are inhabited by a majority of Muslims but then I happen to be a "Nit Picker" about religious things what with 2 grandfathers and a father that were Christian fundamentalist ministers. I rebelled and studied about a variety of religions.
  23. crimsonaudio: It just happened to be the first lubricant I picked up and would have helped you find info if I had spelled it right: Birchwood Casey - News Barricade! Breakfree CLP or Gunzilla would probably have done the same thing it just needed a bit of lubricant for the plastic to plastic friction. I like the 5.7 in the PS90 but not in the after market AR upper. Even though the FN pistol for that round as a longer range than regular pistol calibers I do not have the hand control required to place shots at 100 yards from the pistol that some can. I am going to practice a bit mre with the Five-seven. I was not overly excited with the options available for the MSAR that i have as I want a light and laser for night use around the house. Even though the FS2000 is "FAT" (Only word that comes to mind) with the front rail I can use a variety of grips and light laser combinations. (More options) I was not overly excited by other FN products but might get a SCAR 17 if my LGS gets one in. I prefer the Sig line of 556s for that round and would suggest one of the tactical models but that is an individual preference those that have come here to shoot liked the 556 and my wife has her own that is set up just for her. I am still looking for a weapon to use everyday for distances less than 200 yards that is easily transported because of the varmints on and around my property. The PS90 shoots well at that range but I am concerned about the stopping power on Yote sized varmints so I want something in 556/223 that I can carry and more important control. I carry 2 weapons around the property, a Judge for close work and currently a P556 of the PS90 because of size and weight. When I get a sling and optics on the FS2000 I will carry that for a while to see if that fits my needs. I have a Sig 556 patrol SWAT but I do not like the longer barrel sticking out. That might be what I end up carrying because that is what I can shoot the best with right now and it puts a large dent in steel at 150 yards were 5.7 just chips the paint at 100. I have actually got rid of some weapons as they were not practical for my needs or I just did not care for them as well as others. The boating accident while deep sea fishing took a whole lot of my guns!!! and left me with just a couple of old shot guns
  24. RIGHT! If you tell me that you believe it! I believe that you believe it!
