Well I've had problems with the locking blocks breaking, but with that the pistol will just lock up. Then it's a real battle to get the slide off. That doesn't seem to be your issue, although when a locking block starts to get a weak spot in it, I've seen them start to malfunction more frequently. May want to have that looked at. Other than that. Good cleaning and keep her wet and it should fix it. A good set of dental picks and some degreaser are handy in the process.

I've got the .454 casull/.45lc super red hawk. It's defiantly a smooth shooting revolver and a real attention grabber at the range. I need to get the holster for it though, I think after watching Zombieland last night with my wife that I'll be getting a holster for my ranch hand first though. Good buy and a good looking revolver, I know I'd gladly take another.

Well I wouldn't say that I built it. I've got GunTroll to thank for that one. I lopped the barrel off at just over 20 5/8", GunTroll squared it up for me. I handed him the box-o-parts and asked him to make the decision on the magazine plug (the takedown is different than a solid and I had both plugs), he cut the barrel grooves for the heat shield, made the solid mag plug work in this application, put the new wood on it for me and parkerized the whole thing to give it the military feel for me. He did a great job on it and I couldn't be happier with the project. I would have liked to be there to help him and get my hands dirty but with juggling work, family and my side work I didn't get a chance to dive into the project. My wife has already laid claim to the P6 since it fits her hand better than any other pistol I have. When I said well since you have this one now I'll be taking back my P226, she said I don't think so. I'll have to wait and see how this battle pans out.

Well I went to Goodletsville Gun Shop and saw a used Sig P6, I asked to see it and was told if I liked it he could make me a deal. Of course I asked what kind of deal I would get, $350 out the door. Well unfortunantly I had to go ask the boss if I could get it, her reply was as long as I didn't pass it off as a Mother's Day present then I was good. I went back the following day and picked up this little beauty. Next in the line-up, Brandon at Middle Tennessee Gunsmithing helped me out with this project. It started life in 1911 as a Winchester Model 1897 Takedown. After a new set of wood, a nice new coat of parkerizing, heat shroud and or course a bayonet it is now my Winchester M97 Trench Gun. I'm extremely happy with it, what's your thoughts?

There's always an opening in my collection. My theory is, "If I don't have it I want one, if I already have one I could always use a backup."

Welcome aboard. And David, adding to the collection isn't an addicting. I've just added numbers 34-38 to the arsenal, thanks to greycrait and Glock-N-Load, and just got permission by SWMBO to pick up number 39 for her last this week.

I hope I don't steal your thunder Glock-N-Load. I had a chance to get my hands on a RIA 1911 that had been Duracoated in an OD Green, maybe or some green shade along those lines. Well the owner wasn't too fond of the previous owners color choice. First off I'd like to say that the closest finish that I've had that much trouble removing was hard chrome. It just goes to show that Duracoat is a durable finish. Ok well back to the 1911, not only was all the small parts and pins this green color but the grips were green to match. Needless to say I like how the pistol looks now and the current owner seemed pretty pleased as well. The final product is now Graphite Black and Sniper Grey. Here is the before and after. The ranch hand comes in .44 mag, .45lc and .38/.357. It's a blast to shoot and a real attention hog when it's sitting on a table of beauties.

The mag looks good. I've got about 12 of those sitting in a box. I'm still waiting for my aluminum ones to give me a problem, one the steel ones give me a problem I've got Pmags to back those up. I can't wait to see how it looks. I've thought about leaving my AR all satin black and having the accents done in a black chrome. But that's another experiment in itself.

On my SAA revolvers I've got the 7.5" barrel in the .30 cal (they only make it in that length), a 4.25" in .22lr, a 5.5" in .45LC. Out of all of them I like the feel and weight of the 5.5" barrel, the 7.5" was a little to front heavy until I put the mono grip on it.

Range report from yesterday. I made the long trek to Ohio Thursday night and last night Dad and I went shooting. Unfortunantly the indoor range here in Cincinnati doesn't allow for rifles to be shot so I had to leave the Puma 92 at the house. The Ranch Hand and Super Redhawk made the first appearance in my hands. The Redhawk was shooting 300gr JPH, with that it was fairly accurate in my hands. Dad opted to only shoot 2 rounds from it, he said the last .454 he had left him with a had experience, that and bad elbows. I punished myself by shooting a total of 12 rounds through it, after which my hand physically hurt. The action of the revolver was smooth and crisp, the round went where the sights lined up at and overall I couldn't be more pleased with it. The Ranch Hand definantly got some attention as it sat on the table surrounded by other revolvers. It shoots like a .22, there's little to no kick despite the fact it's a .45lc. The sights shoot a little high however they are adjustable so I can fix it later. Again the action is tight, it's new, but still smooth and the sights are something new to me but I like them. Dad liked it more than any other pistol we brought with us, and I couldn't be happier that I stubled across it at D&T Arms. David had a hell of a price on it, below MSRP. I can't thank David enough for helping me to piss off my wife, he's always got something that I'm looking for when I go in there. Usually my wife prevents me from getting it though, but she wasn't with me on this trip.

What I did was went with the blued and you can get a set of nice hogue wood grips in your choice of wood for around $45 or so for standard grips. Ir you like a bigger grip you can search for the mono wood grips and they will run you about $75 and up. Well I finally made it back to Nashville after being stuck in Chicago over night, not to mention the insanely long flight that brought me to Chicago. So on my way back home from the airport I had to stop by D&T Arms to pick up a few presents I had sent to me. While I was there I was browsing the shop while waiting on my paperwork to go through and found another addition to the family I couldn't not give a good home to. Despite the fact my wife's friend telling me that "I know she will be mad", I went ahead and added it to the list of things going home with me. First up is the Puma M92 with fiber optic sights, 18" barrel ported chambered in .454 Casull and .45LC. Nice little rifle and the action is good and smooth. Second in the package I had waiting on me was the Ruger Super Redhawk, 7.5" barrel, chambered in both .454 Casull and .45LC. Smooth action with some minor flaws, but what do you expect from a used gun, nothing a little oil and patience won't fix. The little orphan that found it's way to my house is the Rossi Ranch Hand, chambered in .45LC. It was on the wall for $445 so I couldn't pass it up especially since I haven't seen one around town in .45LC for some time now, they keep escaping me. I always hear about them, but are gone before I can get there. Well my wife wasn't too happy about this one but she got over it quickly when I told her that I had been looking for this for a while now....what she doesn't know is that if I don't already have it, I'm looking for it. David at D&T Arms like always was a great help and had no problem adding it to my paperwork for me. So in all my dealings there I can't say how great of a shop it is, and the staff is always friendly and a good atmosphere. While we were there my wife's friend had to pick up a case for her shotgun since my friend (her boyfriend) has it wrapped in a towel, you just can't teach some people. Also in the mix, the guy I got the package of .454's from also threw in some ammo, about 144 rounds of .454 Casull 300 grain and 20 rounds of .454 Casull 320 grain. Out the door with the little orphan, soft case and 2 transfers, this trip home from the airport only set me back $525 otd, which is a hell of a deal to me. I have the .30 cal Carbine. It's a blast to shoot...when I can find brass cased ammo. if you're looking for good bulk ammo and want to stick in TN check out TN Cartridge Company (Tennessee Cartridge Co. - Ammunition Manufacturer), I've been shooting their stuff through my Uberti .45lc and it's been great.

If were going to talk about charging handles. Doesn't anyone use a PRI GasBuster or a Badger Latch? I love both of those.

I've had a MATech on mine now for 3 years and never taken it off. I've had no problems, of course everything with a thread gets put on with a torque driver. The VTAC is where it's at. I've been to the Mid-South Self Defense Shooting combat rifle and pistol course twice now and the first time was with a single point and the second was with the 2 point and the 2 point VTAC worked out a hell of a lot better. And the QD attachment is nice if you need to get out of the sling in a hurry.

Craig, You need to find a Ciener .22 conversion. I have a friend with one and they are by far the best I've shot.

Forget the single point, I have them on my guns and I've actually went back to a VTAC 2 point sling. Great friction strap on it and gets it out of the way easily when you transition and it will keep it nice and secure then you are making a mad dash for some cover. If you go with the 2 point, get a QD attachment on the front rail so you can get out of it easily if need be, and pending the buttstock you can get a QD for that as well. If you don't like the Magpul BUIS PM me I have some MATech 200-600m adjustible rear sights laying around from previous builds that I can send you. I may also have a Tangodown foregrip in the parts bin, I'll have to look. It's a little fatter and longer than the KA with internal battery storage and a plate that slides out for a pressure switch.

I usually pick it up, atleast what I can find and give it to GunTroll. I don't reload and my wife says I have too many "hobbies" as it is.

So I'm taking in on trade a Puma model 92 lever action. I have only seen pictures of the rifle and it looks good to me. The wood looks good, it has high-vis fiber optic sights on it, an 18" ported barrel and is chambered in .454 Casull. Included in the trade is a Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull/.45LC as well. I know enough about the revolver, so I'm good there. My question is, is this rifle worth a damn? Is it going to be reliable? If not, what normally breaks on it? In .454 Casull is this going to be accurate out to say 100 yards/meters? Does anyone have one in this caliber? If so, how do you like shooting it? Thanks in advance.

100+ views, I guess no one was a fan of the final results. I personally think it was a great refinish with some good color choices. I personally enjoyed how the etchings on the Star turned out, we should of had a before picture of the etchings. I need to get better at that. Fashion statement or not, if it took all my guns being my wife's favorite color to get her to shoot, I'd consider it, thankfully she likes black and stainless on her guns. I can't wait for the next one. Graycrait is a great guy and very knowledgable...for those of you out there that didn't already know that.
