  1. So I've been running a couple mags and mag catch for a while now. So at least 1-2k rounds through my 43X with them. No issues at all. The mags really have changed my carry life. I find the 43X to be easy to shoot and with 15+1 rounds it's hard to carry my 19. It's obviously snappier but I can still run the 6 plate plate rack from 10 yards in under 5 seconds consistently so I feel comfortable with the capability. Not as fast as my 19 or other full size but still adequate I think. It made my 43X go from mediocre to the best gun purchase I've made in a while.
  2. I ran the military equivalent of one for a while in Iraq before switching to an Acog. I never had any complaints and neither did anyone else that ran them. I also had the PRO for a while on a personal rifle and always did great. It's a battle proven optic and a solid choice in that style of optic.
  3. So I have all my need guns out of the way and work guns complete, now moving on to guns I just want because I think they are cool. I want a 1895 sbl or 1894 sbl. Can't decide on caliber though. Kind of like the 1895 because I dont have anything close to a 45-70 but the 1894s would no doubt be easier to shoot for fun. If I go 1894 should o go 44 or 357? Ammo cost is not a factor and I'm not invested in any of the calibers. What is the opinion of the forum out of the 3 offerings?
  4. Interesting timing as I just purchased one for my Glock 43x. Not necessarily a good comparison as they are different platforms. But I have tried Agency, Zev, and Haley Strategic in Glocks. The Overwatch Precision trigger I got for the 43x seems well made and definitely cleaned up and shortened the pretravel a little. The flat trigger shoe is the most comfortable of all my triggers. The Agency is about the same but with even more pretravel removed and is my favorite all around. The Zev is clean and smooth but the trigger safety irritates my finger as it seems to have a sharp corner. Also Zev has the most pretravel of the group. I had never heard of Overwatch Precision until I gave it a try. It did exactly what I expected and I'm happy with it. It did not lighten the trigger pull weight but cleaned it up and shortened it. Also made the trigger more comfortable to my delicate finger. It seems close to the same as others in pricing and they have a variety of colors to make you look cool. In my case I just purchased the trigger bar and shoe so I knew it wouldn't lighten the trigger pull. The M&P kit has a lot more to it and I imagine will definitely improve a stock M&P. I owned several before switching to Glock and the triggers were less than ideal. Apex is tried and true in the M&P world but I like new shiny things so I would probably gamble.
  5. Got mine this past week with the aluminum mag catch. They work great in my 43X so far. No problems. Crazy to have 15+1 total rounds in a small package. Don't know what else to say about them. If you have questions feel free to ask.
  6. Pretty excited about the k series for a Glock 43x/48. I will probably pick one up. Hope they prove reliable/durable.
  7. Last range toy was my lower I built with a factory 14.5" DDM4SLW upper. If I go back to 5.56 for duty use I will probably use it but currently run a DDM4V7 300blk. This is it before it was finished. Now has an Accupoint 1-4 and Surefire M600df Next toy is undecided. Maybe a Colt Night Cobra. Don't own a revolver and really like the look. Dont know if I would ever carry it as I'm an auto guy.
  8. I carried a MC Operator w/X300 for a while along with a Champion Lightweight Operator on plain clothes duty. The Champion was fantastic to carry. I only stopped to standardize with SWAT and 8+1 rounds is on the edge of my comfort level. Plus my back is a mess and that MC Operator with light got heavy. Never cared about wear and tear. The more beat up they get the more I like them because it means I'm doing something with them. I carry kydex only in an Aeres belt. I do flirt every now and then with going back to a Lightweight Operator but it seems threats have changed over the years. Single attacker I feel fine with a 1911 but multiple attackers I'm going to prefer my Glock 34/17/19. That's just me though ymmv. There is something about breaking leather with the MC Operator that made me feel warm and fuzzy though. And even a few "bad guys" I caught commented on my gun. 1911s have a weird psychological effect it seems on me and a lot of people.

    Ruger 57

Not really sure about the 5.7 round mostly because I haven't looked into it all that much. However, I think this is a neat looking gun/concept. One I will probably never buy though. If 5.7 is your thing I could see this being tempting.
  10. I guess my Glock 17 that I then fully Zev'd. I already had every other size i wanted: 34,19,43 Need a Glock 45 now so I can go David's route. My next purchase will be the G45 or if the railed 48 ever comes over I'll buy that.
  11. Very nice. Full disclosure I am a bit of a Daniel Defense fanboy since going to their armorer course and touring the factory. I have a M4V7 14.5" SLW and a .300 10.3 V7 I use on SWAT. Both are super accurate and reliable. Little overgassed is the only complaint I have.
  12. Undercutting the trigger guard changed my life. I use to have the same issues with my 19. Oddly not my 17 though. The hump on the 19 doesn't fit my hands right. I feel like you probably tried this though. On topic: I'm going to guess the rotating barrel from the German Glock.
  13. I carry mostly Glocks just because that's what I'm invested in at this point. However, if I were starting from scratch and wanted one do it all gun on a budget I'd probably go with the M&P Compact 2.0 in whatever caliber floats your boat. I would pick 9mm but .40 or 45 will serve well too I imagine. The prices just can't be beat right now on the M&P line for what you get and they have good aftermarket support.
  14. I know the Zastavas have been getting a bad wrap lately but my M92 SBR is a hoot to shoot and never hiccups. However, I dont run it like my ARs in classes, training, etc. One day I'll have to go to an AK specific course. Really I just posted this for an excuse to put a photo of it on here lol. (FYI I hate one point slings but that's what I had laying around) An Arsenal SLR107cr has always been on my list amd wouldn't mind a PSA.
  15. Normally don't comment on cal specific topics because they are usually just a never ending debate. I also won't comment on the youtuber posted above as I'm sure he will track me down and kill me. But here goes. I carried a Glock 35 gen3 for about 6 years before department made the switch to 9mm. I bought the gun used and appeared high mileage. I put atleast 15k rounds through it conservatively which isn't a lot but more than most owners. The round count could be significantly higher as I used this in numerous training classes plus however many previous owner shot. Never a problem. I seriously doubt any issues would have come about had I continued to use that gun. I would not hesitate to use it again if we switched back. I have no dog in the cal debate as long as its 9, 40, or 45 as long as ammo is free. Maintain it like anything else and it will work. Outside of the Glock platform I have no idea and cant say if there have been issues. Just get training regardless of cal and enjoy. Take some youtube comments and forum comments with a grain of salt. Some people are more personality than professionals and they get youtube famous. My comment included. I'm not famous or a professional.
  16. I use to always recommend Streamlight TL-R HLs for inexpensive weaponlights. I have now broken 3 in about 3 years. Two tailswitches cracked. One down the center and one where the pivot pin sits. The other I had on my 8"pdw with a tape switch and the tape switch tail cap separated from itself where it meets the light. Hard to describe. So in short I have switched to Surefire minus a couple Streamlights. I have yet to break one over about 8 years of owning different ones. My original x300 is still running strong just low on lumens compared to current offerings. Not hating on Streamlight as my equipment does take a beating between SWAT, training classes, instructing, and regular patrol type stuff. If it sits in your house I'm sure it will fine for hd use but if your going to run it hard I would spend the extra bucks for something a little more durable. For a little cheaper and pretty light weight Arisaka isn't bad. My current setup on my rifle is M600 Scout DF in an Arisaka inline mount with SR07 tailcap/tapeswitch. Really liking it so far. Expensive but have yet to kill a scout light. PDW gun a 300 Scout would be nice and fairly inexpensive these days. I'm sure someone more light oriented will be along shortly as I'm not really up to speed on all the tech stuff related to them. Also full disclosure, I never ran a Protac so they may be great lights I dont know. I do have a Protac handheld light that has worked good and is stupid bright.
  17. I carried a 1911 with my Ares Gear Ranger Belt. Pretty nice belt, used it for years now.

    1911 Information

For $1k I would suggest the Springfield MC Operator. Mine runs flawless and is by far my favorite handgun (emotionally). I carry Glocks though, but would not hesitate to trust the MC Operator for duty as I did for a while. It's just so heavy and I'm to physically broke.
  19. How did the ultimate upper kit turn out, which setup? Also let us know how the flat bow is compared to the curved, if any differences beyond trigger shape.
  20. I definitely think it's the best trigger for the money. I run the Geissele SD-C on a couple ARs and the Larue on my .308 AR. I've also shot several other Geissele triggers. The biggest difference is shooting off the reset. If I ride the reset on both triggers the second shot is faster with less take up on the Geissele. I'm not saying the Larue is bad, it's not. The Larue just has a little take up where the Geissele is a glass rod. The difference though is so small and price difference is so large it's hard to justify the Geissele. When not shooting off the reset I feel they are fairly equal. Reliability has been great with both as expected from two reputable companies. I like the Larue trigger so much that it has been a gateway drug to their Ultimate Upper Kits that I really want now.
  21. Wish they made the Springfield Champion Operator Lightweight in 9mm. Loved my .45 version
  22. Own a Glock 34, 17, 19, and 43. So pretty much same gun except the 43 is obviously a little different. I say go for it.
  23. I agree that typical Hi-point buyers aren't online shoppers. I was just posting for people that are online and watching this thread. I am assuming the initial price of the hi-point will be right around $200 plus transfer fee and the Smith is $250 plus transfer fee and approx $15 bucks shipped. Once the price comes down to current C9 prices you probably will be sub 200 after transfer but right now at assumed prices I still think the Shield would be the better buy. For non online shoppers I can't help them, the hi-point will probably be one of the cheaper guns in the store. It's going to be hard to convince me that the hi-point is the better buy if it's around 200. Maybe a little cheaper but just not enough for me. Now when you start being able to pick them up for $100 I might change my mind.
  24. PSA has the S&W Shield 9mm for $250. Why wouldn't splurge the extra $50. Maybe street price will be lower. Glad that they are trying to improve though.
  25. I see this often and I could argue either way. While the price is pretty high what one person is willing to pay for something varies quite a bit. For me, I have no other real hobbies and married a sugar momma. So I buy a lot of impractical gun stuff. Is it 3x the performance for three times the price? Most likely not. However with most things high end there is diminishing return on investment like sports car price vs speed. Again for me, I felt like I was at a plateau of performance for example on a the 6 plate rack at 10 yards from low ready I average in the 4 second range with a factory Glock 17. With my Zev I average 3-4 seconds and touch the low 2s sometimes which never happened with the stock gun. Sure I could practice more with the stock 17 if it was my full time job and maybe touch those times. However I don't have that kind of practice time so I pay for mechanical advantages. For some people 3x the price might be worth even small incremental iimprovements. I do agree that it is likely not 3x performance enhancing and I will not be buying one. Idk, just rambling.
