I think it comes down to your hand size. Similiar to what others have said I have small hands and prefer the gen4. Also like the tecture on the gen4, my gen3 22 gets slick when I sweat and I can't add a sleeve because the grip already feels too big and I can't stipple the grip because it's an issued weapon. So sum up I would go for the gen4.
  2. No, they are just checkered plastic and the checkering is shallow. That is my main reason for wanting something with more aggressive checkering or different material. I know aluminum would be slick but thought the checkering might have more bite. I have no issues with the appearance of the stock panels, just want more grip. Sorry just realized you were not referring to me.
  3. Added pic above. I think "Covert Black" is just their fancy speak for black but I just wanted to make sure because I know sometimes different coating processes produce different depths of black and want the safety to be as close as possible. I did shoot Para an email this morning but haven't gotten anything back yet. What about grip panels? What are your opinions on the different materials? Probably will stick with black, either aluminum or wood. Pics of grips would be appreciated.
  4. I just picked up my first 1911, a Para SSP in Covert Black. I have owned XDs, M&Ps, and numerous Glocks but I must say that this is the best shooting gun I have owned. I was only able to put 50 rounds through it but my groupings were better than with my Glock which is what I have the most experience with. I do need some help finding an ambi safety for it. I have searched everywhere online and can't seem to find a Covert Black ambi safety. I really wanted to stick with Para Covert Black so finish would be close. I am not a big fan of two tone items. Any suggestions?
  5. I carried a M4 with ACOG and surefire with a vertical grip in Iraq. That is the same setup I run on my personal AR. I find it hard to like anything else in long rifles and hard to trust any other optic. ACOGs are rock solid.
  6. Love the Mossberg. Makes me want to build a shotgun.

    M9 Drop Holster

Not to discount the numerous posts about them getting bogged down by sand but mine went through alot and never had an issue. Still works great.

    M9 Drop Holster

I have one I will give him if you are ever in the smyrna/murfreesboro area. It is a foliage green blackhawk serpa drop down I used in Iraq as a PL. I was trying to sell it but will be more than happy to give it to another Soldier.
  10. Just what I was looking for, thanks on the report. Not a bad grouping for a DAO snubnose, better than me with my fullsize. Still getting use to DAO revolvers. I find the grip to print less than square glock or m&p grips under clothing.
  11. Thanks all. I appreciate the responses. I also agree the laser is not really a selling point for me. The small button is hard to push, especially under stress I imagine, have heard it is usefull for dry fire practice though. But the cylinder release is much easier for me (lefty as mentioned) which might just sell it to me. I have a 686P and reloads are difficult. I saw that someone posted a range report today, so off to check that out.
  12. I see alot of reviews for the .380 Bodyguard but I am more interested in the revolver. Anybody own one or shot one? Do you like carrying it? etc. I fondled one and really liked it even though I am not a revolver fan, but it felt great in the hand and light. I am left handed so the cylinder release is a plus for me.
  13. I have not owned one but was looking a while back at purchasing one. The one thing I kept hearing was if you had a malfunction the weapon is impossible to clear without breaking it down. I have no first hand experience with one but something to look into before purchasing it could have been internet rumors.

    G19 question

Yeah thats about the round count that I go for, 400-500 given the previous problems. Hopefully it works out because I love shooting this G19. Its the first Glock I have owned. I am a lefty with small hands so the new mag release and smaller grip finally got me to buy one. Previously I stuck with Springfield and Smith&Wesson's because they were more accommodating.

    G19 question

Yeah I knew it was an opinion based questioned. Just curious of what other people think more than anything.

    G19 question

I got my #04 spring yesterday after waiting a whole 4 days from when I called Glock. Today I went and fired 200 rounds of 115gr UMC bought from wal-mart and did not have a single malfunction. Needless to say I was pleased. It does have a tiny bit more recoil than with the #03 spring but still very manageable, it is a 9mm. Here is my question though. What round count should the firearm be at before it is considered carry worthy given the previous problems with the #03 spring. I don't need to hear "My Glock shot 10,000 rounds without a malfunction after being flattened by a steamroller". Realistically how many rounds without a malfunction before I should start carrying it. Note: It also shoots Hornady +p without a problem with either spring. Thanks for the help.

    G19 question

Well went to the range today and shot another 100 rounds out of my new G19 Gen 4. I was optimistic because I only had one FTE out of the first 130 rounds a week ago. Well today it was bad news. I had atleast one FTE every magazine and three in one magazine. I called Glock when I got home and they stated they would send me a new #04 recoil spring to replace my #03 and to call back in about 10 days to give them my information, given they do not have the new springs right now. I was surprised that I didnt have to justify the problem and the lady was very nice (I think she had heard this before). So +1 for Glock Customer Service for now. The real test will be in 10 days when I call back. On a side note I did shoot 15 rounds of Hornady +P and did not have a malfunction, but I can not afford to practice with top shelf ammo.

    G19 question

Is Recoil Spring #03 the newest of the group? That is what I have. I only had the one fte with range ammo on the 2nd magazine ever fired so I am actually pretty happy. I actually think it was a bad round, it sounded weak. I dont jump on the bandwagon that the one fte means the whole platform has gone to crap. After about 300 rounds if I still have issues then I might be concerned.

    G19 question

DapperDanMan and Nash45, what recoil spring # did you guys have that was giving you the problem?

    G19 question

Well I took my new Glock 19 Gen4 to the range today and absolutley loved it. This is my first Glock. I have owned XDs, M&Ps, and a 92FS. This is by far my new favorite. I have shot previous generation Glocks and this is my impression. Trigger seems to be more crisp but slightly heavier, overall an improvement with a clean break. Reset is awesome compared to the other pistols mentioned and is very noticeable. My follow up shots were faster and seemed more accurate. Could just be me but I felt it had less muzzle flip and more of a straight back recoil. Texture of grip to me is perfect as well as the general size without inserts. I now know why the G19 is so popular, it really is the perfect size for a multi purpose handgun. I did have one failer to eject on my second magazine but that was my only malfunction out of 130 rounds. I chop it up to weak ammo, I was shooting the blue box stuff they sell at On Target and the shot even sounded weak. Just in case someone is wondering I have the #3 recoil spring. Hope this provides atleast something useful although it is mostly just my opinion.

    G19 question

I just picked up a new Glock 19 Gen4 today! I will let you know how it goes tomorrow at the range. I traded off a S&W M&P9 full size, it just didnt feel right to me (had the thumb safety also). I love my M&P 9c though. Still wanted to give a Glock a run for my heart.
  22. LA_357SIG-Thanks for the reply.
  23. I would like to shoot three gun but would probably just look foolish. I would like to watch a couple first or maybe if a league was having an orientation shoot or something.

    M&P 9mm

Its just weird that it does this in my full size but not my compact or any other pistol I have owned. I am not really slamming it that hard, I doubt I would be able to baby the mag into the weapon in a SHTF situation, but yeah I would be alot faster the bad guy would think I rack it at ninja speed.
