    ar pistol

The ATF has instructed that unless it has a barreled upper attached it is to be transferred as other.  If you look at the instructions on the 4473 there is one for block 18 that basically states any frames or receivers that are neither handguns nor long guns should be marked as other.  Since it can not be considered a rifle until a barreled upper is attached it should fall into the other category.
  2. Hmm, he doesn't have the banned banner under his name.  Did we go through a software upgrade that changed it, or is my browser just being weird.
  3. If you feed her lots of carrots you can turn her poop orange.  Good contrast for the alfalfa.  Viola modern art.
  4. I guess that makes since, I do tend to worry to much.
  5.  Going back and rereading the first letter i realized my error as it only mentions that the brace is molded to fit an AR, the question was not asked about AR's in particular.   And again my concern would not be the brace, either the SB 15 or 47, but rather using the SB15 on an AK pattern pistol as that would require installing a separate buffer tube assembly that is not covered under any of the letters.   I probably could have worded that better in my first post.
  6. I understand that the brace does not constitute a stock, my worry would be does adding the non essential buffer tube to an AK constitute a stock.   Also just as a general FYI both ATF letters specifically mention AR type weapons
  7. couple of things.  Century makes a SB47 brace that is similar in design to sigs brace.  I know there are folks out there that are attaching buffer tubes to AK pistols and using the sig version.  There are also some utilizing the century international variant.  I would recommend doing some research on legalities as it regards AK variants. We know it is perfectly legal to install and shoulder on a AR pistol and that the brace does not change the weapons classification.  However i am not sure if the same would hold true to the AK platform, especially with adding the buffer tube.     As you well know the buffer tube on an AR pattern pistol is part of the action of the firearm.  Since it is not part of the action on an AK pistol i am not sure if this would be enough to constitute a design change.    If it were me i would either A, stick to the AR as the legalities are out there and covered in writing already, or send an email to the ATF with an inquiry.
  8. I think the problem with the traditional BBQ hot spots is that they are hamstrung by a regional style of BBQ, though each has their own place i like the variety. The Nashville area has a variety of places where one can find any type of BBQ they like.    Never been a big fan of Memphis style BBQ, me being from North Carolina may have something to do with that.
  9. Over-gassing isn't the only thing that will alter ejection patterns.  Extractor spring being a little more stout than spec, or a off spec ejector and/or spring will cause the same ejection pattern.  If your experiencing mild recoil and good groups and everything is operating reliably i would say leave it as it is and don't worry about it.     An over-gassed gun will cause premature wear, but your not likely to notice it until the round count gets way up there.
  10. Battery life is an issue.  I would like for it to be more like 6 months rather than one.  Also bio-metric sensors still have a ways to go before I would trust my life to one working right.  A lot of things will cause your fingerprints to change a little and be unreadable to the sensor.  Get a cut on your finger, wont read.  Have an issue of dry skin or callouses, it won't read.  Been out working and got some dirt on your hand, it won't read.  It does have the key backup so its not any worse than a traditional key lock, but i find that people misplace the keys to bio-locks because they don,t plan on using the key.  Absolutely no discussion of price point.     Its a step in the right direction, but i'm skeptical.
  11. The big question is do you have the ability to take them out and shoot them first before deciding.     I'm assuming your looking at the Llama mini max.  There hit and miss guns with sub-par metallurgy(mostly on the older ones, supposedly fixed on the newer ones).  Plenty of good ones exist and it could make for a cheap range toy.  I would not however use the Llama as a defensive firearm.  Again the sub-par metallurgy means they are prone to some parts breaking.  Most notably the extractor.  They are also built loose, which does help the gun run a little better, but also means accuracy may suffer.  Every now and then a gem slipped out and were really decent guns.   The P-11 is what some would call ugly.  Never really cared about how my guns look only how well they fit and work.  Harsh recoil impulse for a 9mm and has a long 9 lb double action trigger that feels even heavier after a long day of shooting. It doesn't make for a great range gun, but they are known to be reliable guns that go bang when you pull the trigger.     Deciding what to buy depends on what you are looking to do with the gun.  Since ammo isn't an issue i would say take them both out and put at least 100 rounds through each and then decide.
  12. On my carry guns i go back and forth between single and double stack guns based on the cloths and the weather.  My decision is more comfort based.  I can conceal the shield behind much more comfortable clothing in the hotter months.
  13. You can probably find one that would work at your local hardware store, just take one of the others in with you and have them match it.
  14. The kit is basically a set screw and a grip screw replacement that is slightly shorter than normal.  On most lowers your grip screw is drilled and tapped all the way through and opens up just below the rear of the trigger bar.   The set screw preloads the trigger bar and will get rid of some of the take up. A good way to tell how much it will remove is to charge the weapon, place it on safe, and then pull the trigger.  The amount of travel is what can be safely removed with a set screw.  You can remove more if you modifying your trigger bar, but that is not recommended.
  15. you could try polishing the contact points and installing a lower weight spring and one of Dolo's kits to pre-load the trigger.  All said and done you shouldn't be out more than a little.       11 for the springs I think Dolomite's kits were running somewhere around 10-12. PM him for pricing You probably already have everything at home needed to polish the trigger.
  16. a top fed p90 type rifle chambered in 357 rimless mag.
  17. I know the feeling I'm 6'4 and about 230.  But for sport bikes i haven't found any that are more comfortable than the VFRs.  I have a 3rd Gen in the garage too, but it needs some work to get back on the road.  I will be investing in some Helibars for the 800 and some peg lowering blocks though, those make a world of difference to taller riders
  18. I'm always up for a good ride.  I'll be on a VFR800
  19.   As a general rule threads are not deleted because it wreaks all sorts of havoc.  There is a more detailed explanation somewhere around here if you wanna search for it.
  20. Im still going back to the gas key being slightly warped.  It is the only thing i can think of that would possibly deform on the carrier that has not been effectively ruled out as a cause.
  21. Short answer under 26 inches oal and no stock equals pistol. Can have afg or handstop, just no vertical foregrip. Over 26 inches oal and no stock equals firearm and can have verticle grip. Oal is measured from end of buffer tube to end of barrel. Muzzle devices are not included unless permanently attached.
  22. A warped gas key can cause your issues as well and would cause binding with even the slightest upper pressure.  I would start there.  The odds that your carrier itself has gone bad after functioning fine for that many rounds is pretty slim.  It is also cheaper than buying a new carrier.  Try pulling the key and then hand cycling to see if you are still getting the issues.
  23. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/54222-permanently-attaching-a-suppressor/   Here is a link that answers your questions.  Cliffs notes version.  Yes it's legal. It's the same cost for a tax stamp for either and suppressors are expensive, so it can kind of be a waste of money, since you limit the suppressor to being on that one gun.  Alternate idea that would work well is adding a shroud that gets you to the 16 inch length, with an inner diameter large enough that to install the suppressor inside of the shroud..
