  1. I agree with gtv about the .243, but that is not what you asked, and I'm pretty sure you already have that caliber based on your post. I would go witht the .223. You can find plenty of affordable ammo for punching paper. For varmints, it's easily flat out to 300 and really retains enough energy out to 600. You can get 85gr ammo for deer, though it wouldn't be my choice for deer, it's the best of the 3 IMHO. I have attached a link to the rifle I would purchase as well. I'm also a big believer in Savage witht accutrigger and I love a heavy barrel. Good luck with whatever you decide. Keep us updated. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/78350
  2. For those who are also patiently waiting for this gun I thought you may enjoy the article below. Kel-tec is stating they will be up to full production by the end of October. I would assume the prices would come down off of gunbroker by the first of year as well. Kel-Tec PMR-30 22 Magnum Semi-Auto Pistol
  3. Not sure where and if it falls at a "caliber", but I think 12 guage shells would have to be up there. Your odds of coming across those have to be pretty high.
  4. Wow, I signed up last night and I was the 45th person. I checked it today and there was 450. Not bad in a day! We all need to keep spreading the word about the site.

    .22lr Pistol?

If she can wait until 2015, she should get a Kel-Tec PMR 30.
  6. Done. Great idea and trying to spread the word as well. Thanks again.
  7. I carry a PF9 just about everyday and it is a perfect "pocket" 9mm. For what you are wanting, it will fill the void perfectly.
  8. It was a 100gr Hornaday BTSP interlock bullets light magnum. One of the better rounds I found for deer hunting at the time.
  9. Second the .243. Very versatile from varmint to whitetail. Back to the original post though, does that savage model come with the accutrigger?
  10. I killed a fox while deer hunting with my .243 with a 100gr round and the exit hole was not that bad at all, though that could have been a fluke. The pelt turned out just find though.
  11. Everyone should own a gun chambered for the .22LR. It's perfect for squirrel hunting and great for plinking. For your centerfire round I would recommend the .243. Can get 70 gr rounds for fox, yotes and so on, but also 100 gr for deer.
  12. Does the Glock 26 work as a "pocket gun"? I carry a pf-9 now because it is a great pocket gun, but since I own a G17 and KT Sub 2000 (accepts G17 mags) the G26 is starting to make sense as my carry gun.
  13. Taurus Judge What you think it says: "Watermelons and perps beware, I have the ultimate defensive firearm at my side." What it really says: "I couldn’t hit a 5″ plate at 25 feet with one bullet, might as well not hit it with three or five pellets."
  14. Wow, it almost makes me tear up to think about only having 5 guns, either way here is my list. Glock 17 Kel-Tec Sub 2000 (accepts glock 17 mags) AR 15 in 6.5 Grendel Remington 870 12 Gauge Ruger Mark II
  15. "The best" is a relative term. It really depends on what you want to do with the rifle. After a lot of research I decided with the help of a buddy to build an AR in the 6.5 Grendel caliber. What I was looking for, I felt like it was the best for me. The round is accurate, flat shooting, has low recoil and able to take several types of game. It packs more of a punch than the 5.56 which is also why I liked it. I mainly built it for deer/varmint hunting. The main negatives are both scarcity and cost of ammo. The true test if the rifle is going to be "the best" for me will be during deer season this year. Below is a link you may find helpful on the Grendel as well. Good luck. Sabre Defence & Alexander Arms New M-4 Style 6.5mm Grendel AR Rifles
  16. I would be lying if I said a small part of me was not trying to stir some up with the post. Whether it has been beat like a dead horse or not, it’s a topic that a lot people both have strong opinions and disagreements on. Makes for both a good discussion and interesting read. I really just wanted to see if people could come up with legitimate reasons for OC, like Erik88 did, or if they would be based on arrogance, like strickj.
  17. I read a couple already but they were more than 7 months old. I'm looking for someone to tell me the benefits of open carry or why they open carry. I just can't see any benefits that have merit.
  18. I would like to know everyone's opinion on open carry as I do see the topic brought up quite a bit. I personally do not see the point except while at the range, on private property, or hunting. I just feel the negatives out weigh the positives while in public. Please explain to me the benefits of open carry in public though all opinions on the topic is welcome.
  19. I would recommend looking at the Kel-tec PF-9 as well. Affordable and easily concealable as it’s always in my front pocket. It does have a little pop while shooting it but is not unmanageable. I also owned a P3AT and ultimately went to the PF-9 because of the ammo. .380 ammo was both hard to fine and expensive. You can find 9mm easier and for half the price.
  20. What about the quad rails for it?
  21. Thanks for everyone's feedback, especially oriental. I decided it was not the gun for me. To many reviews described it as flimsy, and when I pay close to $600 or more, I don't want a flimsy gun. Things that I was looking for in the rifle though, compact, fun to plink, and close range work actually led me to purchase another Kel-tec product. I bought a Sub 2000 in 9mm that accepts my Glock 17 mags as well. Already having an AR in a 6.5, I just thought the sub 2000 filled more of a gap in my collection if you will. I will let you know how it goes after I get it in and able to throw some down range. Thanks again.
  22. I have read that about the recoil, but on what level? Is it bad enough to make it not enjoyable to shoot, or just more than an AR? Does the gun overall feel flimsy or in the folded position? I haven't had a chance to hold one, but again, its versatility has me at least intrigued. Thanks for everyone's input so far.
  23. As far as you can see with your choice of optics. It's a bad round.
  24. How is the accuracy and range (compared to an AR)? I take you don't have many FTF? Are you looking to sell the A version?
  25. After doing some internet research I have recently become infatuated with this rifle from Kel-Tec. I currently have an AR in the 6.5 Grendel caliber but was looking to add a .223 to my safe and this one caught my eye. The folding stock along with price point (if you could actually find one) makes this gun appealing to me. I wanted to know if anyone has owned, shot or handled this gun and could offer their opinion. Thanks. Kel Tec
