  1. Do most people hunt at the WMAs? How do the blind drawings work? From what I've read there is one at the beggining of the season for permenant blinds but I haven't seen anything about temporary blinds. I've only hunted in CA (last season, before I got out of the military and moved home), and they did a drawing the morning of for temporary blind spots.

Blind permittee, the person to whom the TWRA issued the permit, must occupy his/her blind by the legal daily opening shooting time on days he/she wishes to hunt, and if the blind is unoccupied at that time by the permittee, the first person or party occupying the blind shall be entitled to the privilege of its exclusive and uninterrupted use until the end of shooting hours that day.

Does that mean a permenant blind unattended can be used if they don't show up?

  2. I have NEVER liked camo painted rifles... or camo anything, really.

UNTIL I saw YOUR gun!  Holy smokes that is just incredible! That thing must just plain old disappear outside.  Better not put it down!

Just today I started looking into another AR build.  I'm thinking a 16" lightweight, iron sights, bare bones, lightweight weapon.  Now, I'm thinking it's gotta end up with that camo scheme on it.  You wanna paint some more?!  :x:

Wow, just saw this. I'd be willing to help anyone that wants to do it, but the best/coolest part of this is having done it yourself.

  3. Surefire M4 Devastator (talk about eating batteries, and bulbs)

Surefire G2 LED (5 years, 2 deployments. probably my favorite)

Nitecore MT1A (this is my every day carry)

Cheap Cree light(not sure on any of the specs but it's a great light, took it to Italy and on 2 deployments)

Currently have a cheap weapon light til I can upgrade my rifle

  4. Since EASing from the Marine Corps, I've been working on my AR turning from a fixed carry handle M4 to something I could show off. I picked up a PSA blemish lower, some rails, a Magpul BAD lever, and a MOE stock. I just finished painting it, let me know what you think. I have a cheap $30 light on there that's not in the pictures til I can afford a good one.

  5. Well I don't know how to edit posts on my phone so I'll just add this here, on all of our rockets the warhead it's done using it's propellant before it leaves the tube. So i'm going to bet the old bazookas are the same.

  6. The gun store is the most advertised one, you'll see signs on taxis and those mobile billboards for it. If you're going for a wedding the groom shoots for free, I don't know what but that's one of their specials they advertise.

  7. I recently joined myself. I always like handguns and the only long guns I had were for hunting. I couldn't understand why someone would want to shoot one all the time. Well, I got bit myself and bought one last week of February. I bought a lowly DPMS that usually gets made fun of, but I love it. I put 100 rnds of factory thru it and about 2500 reloads in less than 2 months.

They put those little hanging gongs up at Gallatin Gun Club yesterday at 100, 200 and 300 yards. With iron sights I hit the 100 yd gong 42 times in a row. It's SO addictive!

I swore I'd never own a black rifle. Then I swore I'd keep it simlpe and not deck it out. Now I want to put a scope on it and reach out and touch that 300 yd gong and make it a tacticool, Paul Blart Mall Ninja, SHTF, zombie killin' machine. LOL!

    Brad

You'll surprise yourself, with a little help I bet you can hit the 300 with irons easy.

  8. I haven't played any of the other Diablo games, so I don't know if I will get this one. I will more than likely wait until it is out and see what the reviews are like. The game I am looking for comes out next month, Mass Effect III.

Yep, ME3 is going to be awesome. I'll be losing some sleep the first couple weeks.

  9. Thanks, great pictures!

A question-- Lab dogs are among my favorites. Smart, loyal, energetic, easy to train etc. But they don't seem as likely aggressive compared to ferinstance German Shepherds or Dobermans.

Labs are surely as ideal as any for bomb sniffing or warning about strangers, but do they also adapt and become "war dogs" willing to attack enemies as needed? Just curious.

The labs I've known were likely real friendly to strangers, though my favorite Lab was protective of the family. She would have attacked a burglar in a heartbeat, but most of em seem more laid-back?

The labs are strictly for explosive material detection. We still had some MPs attached to us with their shepherds which are all purpose MWDs. They use labs for the same reasons hunters use labs; they have good noses, a high drive to please their handler and a good work ethic. The dogs are still extremely friendly but they know who the handler is and that's where their loyalty lies. It took almost the whole deployment for him to even look at other people when they called him if I was around.
