  1. See post 30. I'm 100% with Razorback on this one.
  2. If he'd had to use his gun in self-defense he would be covered under 39-17-1322. I still say there is more of a chance if he'd kept his armed status and HCP to himself he would have drove away with a ticket and his 1911. Of course I admit it is unknown when, if or under what circumstances he would have found it he'd been canceled. If you want to know the status of your HCP maybe you can call the same number to find out the status of whether it has been issued or not or find a friendly LEO that will check, while your not armed. I really don't think this was the best way to find out.
  3. Welcome
  4. Welcome
  5. Pretty pityful isn't it? I knew when I started seeing "No Smoking" signs in places where I already knew smoking wasn't allowed, there must have been some type of requirement. As far as your porch....just don't enclose it...lol 39-17-1804
  6. Might ought to leave the no smoking sign, see 39-17-1805
  7. Ok...I finally read the whole story.. Not to side track this, but to me this is another good example of why to keep your mouth shut and your HCP in your wallet until the situation calls for different actions. Had he simply gave the officer his DL, he may have simply drove off with a ticket.
  8. Good question.....I'm sure the time it would take to get a new DL would be greatly shorter than the time to get a new carry permit.
  9. Hmmm.....true, but guess I have always just took that to mean if you still lived where they would cover you. Like I just moved to Milan from Parsons so I notified them so I would still be valid and within the law. Had I moved out of state.....not sure if I would have thought to do it. I would have just applied for a new permit and DL in my new state and I'm not sure, but I figure I would have to surrender my TN DL/permit to get the ones from my new state.
  10. But how would the state of TN know you've moved out of state? I wouldn't think it would show up as invalid until it came time to renew it and it was not renewed.
  11. I think you are correct on both points Dave.
  12. I sort of thought that was what the "holstered" meant as opposed to concealed.
  13. Welcome
  14. ...Just keep them that way until on the firing line
  15. I sort of agree... I'm at work right now, otherwise I would post the return e-mail I got from him stating this policy.
  16. I wouldn't have a problem with keeping it holstered. But it does seem a little weird to me that some gun shops would be anti-legal carry. The Great Outdoor Store in Jackson has recently just opened an indoor range at their place. I contacted the range officer about carry into the store.....he said all weapons must be unloaded, those carried by HCP holders and even LEO's.

  19. I was under the impression (readying Georgia Packing forums) that this was not required. You do have to advise if you are asked if carrying a weapon(s). B. According to Georgia info on Handgunlaw.us you don't have to notify an officer.
  20. I can't tell for sure if she has just filed for an Order of Protection or is she has already been given an Ex Parte Order of Protection. If she has just filed for a OP and no Ex Parte Order has been issued, there should be no problem, especially if she drops it at the hearing. If an Ex Parte order has been issued that could be a different issue. There was a past member here who had someone file for and get and Ex Parte Order against him. He went to court and the judge dismissed the order, but he still got a letter from the State to return his HCP after it was already done. Not really sure how it finally turned out...he sort of wore out his welcome here before I heard. Also Seaslug I hate to hear how it was used just a legal ploy in your case.......unfortunately I think they are used much more for this, than the intended purpose.

    "Logging In"

    I never log out.
  22. Some may for the reasons that Todd mentioned, but in NO way do they have to or supposed to. See T.C.A. 39-17-1350 Law enforcement officers permitted to carry firearms.
