carry ing a gun and asked to leave hypothetical

Does Barnes and Noble have a entrance directly from the outside? If so, unless the post a sign there...you'll still be good to go. Even though I see you were being somewhat sarcastic...I'm still wondering who and where these people are that just go around shooting people they see openly carrying a handgun?..... -
True...if you don't ask, you don't know. But there are a wide range of ways to ask questions as well.....

I've heard something similar.... It's not good to argue with an idiot, because someone watching may not be able to tell the difference. -
You're right, You won't find a law that says it's illegal, because there isn't one. See this from Handgunlaw.us I think it is pretty much the same thing sermon8r posted. Although I don't know about all trucking companies not letting you.

Of course with the price of gas as it is....it may still be cheaper to mail them your birth certificate then go online and get a new one instead of driving to a DL station if you live very far from one.

That would be a GOOD buy. I have a Cub Cadet LT 1046 (Has 23hp Kohler engine) and it has been a good mower. Got it two years ago, never a problem.

Also remember they are requiring proof of Citizenship or Legal Permanent Residency for new applicants AND renewals. http://www.state.tn.us/safety/handgun/renewals.htm

It's all over their website now... http://www.state.tn.us/safety/handgun/renewals.htm How to Renew Your Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit ALL handgun permit applicants seeking a new, renewal, or replacement permit must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency.

Oh you could at least once I'm sure.....

I did say there were laws requiring a safe environment for children. Just no laws that specifically addressed the requirement or procedure for the storage of firearms.

Dave I would slightly disagree....the AG and the law (39-17-1359) both say a sign has to be worded substantially similar to 39-17-1359 among other requirements. But granted...whether a sign posted somewhere is substantially similar or not could end up being a matter for a court to decided after you are charged. Also...as we all know and have said...if asked to leave...all bets are off whether the place is posted or not...also while it may or may not affect others, it is good way to get yourself permanently banned from the property when armed or maybe period. -

You're right... It's just that it is private property that is Open to the Public. Not really like your house. IMO there should be different rules. Also...the government already tells Private Property owners many things they can/can't allow on their property. Just like they've said you have to allow in certain groups of people I mentioned above and also now they've said you can't allow smoking in most cases. So, as others have said, there should be something that exempts a property owner from liabilty of the actions of HCP holders. So is there really full control of private property by the owner? -

Well there are really no laws that directly address the storage of firearms in TN. There are no laws that require the use or trigger locks or storage in a safe or other locked means. You could tell her there are no laws that require it and challenge her to show you otherwise. You of course do have to provide a safe environment for your children, not really sure who this lady is to determine that, but if she has the authority to determine what is safe and what is not and your daughter will not be allowed to live with you unless she is happy, well you are sort between a rock and a hard spot. You can look up the weapons laws using the link in my sig if you like. There are under Title 39, Chapter 17, Section 13 Just curious...when I got custody of my kids from my ex, there was no inspection or anything like that before the moved in full time.

Razorback, you have a very interesting point there. I wonder if it has ever been used as a defense? I may see what I can find when I have time.

Yep...a Handgun Carry Permit is good for Handguns only. 39-17-1351(n)(1) says "Except as provided in subdivision (n)(2), a permit issued pursuant to this section shall be good for four (4) years and shall entitle the permit holder to carry any handgun or handguns that the permit holder legally owns or possesses. The permit holder shall have the permit in the holder's immediate possession at all times when carrying a handgun and shall display the permit on demand of a law enforcement officer." 39-17-1307 prohibits the carry of ANY firearm (among other weapons) 39-17-1308 gives a list of defense to 39-17-1307. One part says it is ok if the firearm is unloaded, another if you have a HCP, another if you on your property and some others.

But Sonic gals are waitresses they are carhops. They are not paid a tip wage (less than minimum wage) they are paid like other employees at the place. I of course tip all those that are considered tipped employees and make less than minimum wage.

The funny thing is how we (people in general) accept discrimination against armed citizens. If someone was asked to leave a business (or a sign posted) because of their gender, race, sexual orientation, religious beliefs people would be in outrage. Even if it was because of hair color, style of dress, length of hair, color of lipstick...while there may not be "outrage" there would be a somewhat publicly accepted as wrong. -
