  1. Oddly enough when I was in college we smoked in our apartment but was able to remove 90% of the smell by running an air purifier and cleaning the carpets and furniture. Did not even touch the walls. Luckily I have the advantage of having all new smoke free furniture and belongings. My wife is a cleaning MASTER so I have no doubt it will be as clean as humanly possible.   What would you guys recommend we use as a cleaning solution? Some online suggested vinegar and baking soda but if I recall don't most 3rd graders use that combo to make bubbling volcanoes? Ammonia and vinegar would seem to be a good combo but I don't know if it will hurt the paint.
  2. Yeah I mean we WILL Kilz and paint eventually I just don't want to repaint an entire house before we move in. I am hoping we can get the smell out for the most part by cleaning and airing out. I plan on letting the HVAC fan run constantly with the windows open to vent it out. Luckily we are in a rental now so I have the option of cleaning before we move in.
  3. The house we are purchasing was unfortunately a smokers house. The house is well maintained and clean (minus the smoke of course) and has newer carpet in the bedrooms, hardwood in the living room and linoleum in the kitchen and bathrooms. We will be cleaning the walls, cabinets and other surfaces and I am wondering if any of you guys have done this before. I have read online to use ammonia, vinegar, baking soda, etc. We will also be cleaning the carpets after the walls as well as removing the blinds and replacing them with 2" blinds. I know sealing with Kilz and painting after cleaning would help but I probably won't be painting anytime soon. I hate painting and it's the last thing on my list for this new house.   Edit: See last post for update.
  4. Yep. Did they happen to mention how much they will be getting in? Probably a couple of boxes haha.
  5. The difference in a Glock 19 barrel and a j frame barrel is the problem for me. I am going tonight to pickup some .38 hollow points but don't know what to get. The snubby barrel doesn't lend itself to high muzzle velocities. Don't know if I should go for a lighter +p or a heavier standard load. I'm comfortable with pretty much anything in 9mm but I don't want to get something that won't expand in a .38. Granted I wouldn't want to be shot with any of them.
  6. Yep.  I went around Saturday and had the same luck. Ended up going to Nashville Armory and finding what I wanted in the trade in's. They negotiated with me as well and earned a repeat customer from here on out. I will say I went there last because I assumed I couldn't get a good deal at a gunstore. I was wrong and will continue to pass by the pawn shops.  :pleased:
  7. They have already played out the one leg thing with Hershel so I can't imagine Bob living through it for long. He's just not that strong of a character anyways.
  8. I too thought he got bit and was crying about it. The incubation period is different for everyone. I don't remember the guys name but in the first season on the road the one guy got bit and was OK for a day or two with nothing but a fever and bad dreams.
  9. Well that's good news. I actually prefer the look of the hammer and like being able to shoot s/a for fun. If you can call shooting this thing fun. Id prefer not to modify it.
  10. Well I ended up getting a model 637. I got a deal I couldn't pass up. If I don't like the hammer on it I guess I can always get it cut off....or just buy another one haha. Can you buy replacement hammers from the factory already cut and just change them out?
  11. Man I wish I had relatives this helpful!
  12. Man I have revolver fever now. Can't wait to get my hands on a 642. Only revolver I ever owned was a security six and I hate that I got rid of it.
  13. They won't have to produce much fill for the slab I can say that much.
  14. Glad you are getting him back! 6 months is an awful long time. I'd say it's a miracle you found him!
  15. Haha so how does that work it I want to bust it up when I build a shop? Do I have to OK it with everyone in the county?
  16. Yes. I have a few MASSIVE rock just level with the top of the ground on the back half of the property. Luckily nothing I'll have to cut around. That will be where I put the goats, mini donkeys, etc. that we will probably get. They'll make short order of the over growth.
  17. See if I buy two though I have to get the same color. If not inevitably my wife will want the one I like.  :pleased:   I have a good excuse to go to the range now and rent a couple. One last trip to the range before we move out to the country and I can shoot all I want!!!
  18. Ok. The shrouded hammer vs. internal hammer was something I didn't know. Luckily the 442 and/or 642 was what I had my eye on. I'm guessing the finish is the only difference in the two?
  19. I recently decided I am not happy with my little .380's as a pocket pistol for myself and purse pistol for my wife. I will be looking to get a J-Frame or two this Christmas and was overwhelmed by all of the different models S&W offer. I would want one with a shrouded hammer but past that I just want the lightest and smallest for myself and whatever would be comfortable for my wife and still fit in a purse pocket. I have read they are making them without the internal lock now so that's a plus. Any information that would help me decide would be appreciated.   Also I prefer not to look at the LCR's I have heard they have great triggers but I'd prefer to have all metal even if it has to be an air weight.
  20. Yeah I have a feeling one neighbor won't mind at all (looks like lots of cool toys in his massive garage). The other I'll have to check with but like you said it's not illegal. I just want to be polite about it.
  21. I actually saw those for the first time the other day. Don't remember the brand but I think they were priced close to the Wilderness ($40 or so). Didn't feel to thin though. I'd still go with the proven track record of the wilderness. May as well spend the extra $5 and get the 5 stitch though. I have had no issues at all with my 3 stitch but hey it's only $5.
  22. I also have a Wilderness instructor belt (3 stitch) I wear most days. When I am going for a tucked in look I have a black leather belt from RG Leather. It's thicker than the wilderness belt and impossible to bend.
  23. Yeah I plan to go introduce myself and let them know I like to shoot so not to panic if they hear it. Also only during normal hours unless it's a .22 at a pest or something. Just wanting to make sure it was technically legal. As you said though as long as the neighbors don't mind or get aggravated I doubt it will ever be an issue.
  24. I'll be moving to lebanon next month and will not be in the city limits. Can't find anything addressing this but I should be able to shoot on my property shouldn't I?
  25. Yes. She was in the preview.
