My Shield Plus is back from its second trip back to the factory for the same issue. They replaced the barrel locking block. But the problem persists. I did some debugging on my own. I swapped the slides between my Shield Plus and my Shield V1. The Shield V1 frame worked fine with the Shield Plus slide. The Shield Plus frame failed with the Shield V1 slide. The problem followed the frame. When holding both frames side by side so that the slide stops are visible, the slide stop on the Shield Plus is noticeably different. The tip of the Shield Plus's slide stop is not rounded like on the Shield V1 but instead has a slight hook that digs into the slide rather than merely stopping it. The problem and solution seems obvious to me: replace the slide stop with an in-spec part. Lots of videos on YouTube demonstrate filing down the slide stop to solve the problem. I had this silly expectation that a new-in-box pistol bought at a retail store would function. I also had the silly expectation that if it failed to function then its maker would fix it. If I'm buying kit guns that need to be finished, I'll stick with KelTec. At least with KelTec I'll end up with something a little more unique and noteworthy fixing the gun.

I'm late to this thread, but I'll pile on since we're truth telling on S&W. Sorry to hear I'm not the only one having S&W problems, David. I bought a Shield Plus in July. It has a problem with the slide stop getting stuck in the upright position which makes it a bear to get the slide to drop forward. Not exactly a feature valued in a carry pistol. I sent it back in the Fall and received it back around Thanksgiving. They had done nothing to the pistol. Despite the polite CS lady jotting down what was wrong with it and the required letter describing the problem enclosed with the pistol, the technician misconstrued the problem as the slide refusing to lock back according to the bill of work that came back with the pistol (the exact opposite of the problem). I called back and the CS fellow I spoke with seemed annoyed at first. It took some back and forth for him to understand the problem. It's been back in S&W's hands since the beginning of the month. Some of the time taken is my fault. I had some life drama and didn't take it to the range right away where I discovered the issue. Then I waited again over Christmas so FedEx didn't lose the pistol in a ravine outside of Memphis with the Christmas package rush. But the bottom line is this pistol should have never left the factory in this condition. This was supposed to be an upgrade over my Shield V1 as my EDC, but it's fate is in limbo currently and not looking good. For a $700 pistol, my expectations have not been met. The Shield Plus had made it onto a coworkers short list for his next purchase, but he smartly delayed purchasing during this drama. After mine came back still malfunctioning, he crossed it off his list entirely and bought a Sig ... which had a problem of its own. Can't win for losing.

I finally got one at G&L. I can't wait to take it out and make some noise.

I keep checking with my LGS but no luck yet. My collection needs one of these.

I've put together a few ARs on TnArms plastilowers. They're lightweight which is a plus. They required some extra fitting that aluminum lowers typically do not. Through holes sometimes need reaming. The back of the lower may need cut down ever so slightly with a belt sander if using a rifle stock rather than a carbine stock. Though I believe there is now an option to purchase with that already handled. It's a documented catch so do look into that. None of that was a big deal. Basic shop tools pressed through without incident. Overall I'm happy with them and will use them again.

I built a leftie AR years ago. It was in fact more expensive to do so, and I also imagine parting with it would be more difficult. It is also a side charger which didn't help the cost either. I included pictures of both the rightie and the leftie that I built. They are virtually twins with only minor variations where required. The upper receiver is a leftie variant. You'll also need a leftie bolt variant to go with that. Beyond that, pieces and parts were the same as a rightie. I did splurge on some optional ambi parts such as the selector switch where I felt it made sense to do so. Many of the ambi parts options where a little dubious in nature so I skipped those but to each their own. If you have any questions, I'm happy to provide any answer I can remember.

Woodlands is quite good. Bombay Bistro in Cool Springs is also quite good. I haven't been in a few years since I lived down that way, but I remember good food at somewhat elevated Franklin style prices.

My brother bought a lemon once. It was a BMW motorcycle. The shop had it more than he did. The shop also treated him like you've been treated, very rudely. When he did have the bike, he wrote lemon in yellow duct tape all over it for all to see around town. It was removed during every trip to the shop so he'd put it right back on as soon as he got home. Eventually the bike crossed the line on TN lemon laws so he hired a lawyer. My brother got his money back less an allowance based on how many miles he put on it. BMW paid my brother's lawyer per TN lemon law. If the deal goes lemony sour, TN law gives you a tool to make lemonade.

I got my letter in the mail from Aim last weekend. I signed up for their freebie monitoring. My driver's license was uploaded at the time for ammo purchases so that's been hauled away by baddies. My FFL was there too, buy I don't think there's much danger on that. What are the bad guys going to do? Buy guns and have them shipped to me?

After using the Magpul block, I tossed my other blocks. +1 for Magpul.

I picked up one during the last round and like it. Just remember you're going to spend some more money. You'll need some lead sacks to add on. You'll also need a replacement front bag that fits the fatty AR hand guard. The one that comes with it is quite narrow. The replacements come in both filled and unfilled varieties.

I bought a couple power tools and a couple hand tools from HF. 100% failure rates on first try. Took it back for replacement. It all immediately failed again. Haven't been back. Not worth my time. Fortunately I was only out all of $50 ... which should have been my first clue.

I put a Seekins ATC on my TGO-15's. They're available in a variety of finishes and sizes. Recoil and muzzle rise are extremely well controlled by this comp. However, your immediate neighbors at the range get blasted by both noise and high winds. You'll need a drop of blue loktite to keep it held on there. I've got eight inches in my yard in Inglewood last time I measured. It started about 6am. I measured three inches by 8am.

I met up with KahrMan at Royal Range today. We had a good time talking and snooping. Neither of us tried the range this time, but we did partake of the observation hallway. It's a nice setup. The store was slammed with customers. A couple employees told me they weren't expecting such a crowd today, but the range was attracting lots of shooters. That's a good problem to have. One set of employees worked feverishly to clear the line while another set showed guns and gear from behind the counter. I bought a little ammo. The fellow who checked me out was handing out paperwork for those wanting to try the range while ringing me up. They were working as efficient as possible considering the gob of people in the store. With a little patience, we all got where we were going.

I have used NCA for years on both my previous and current houses. Good response times when the system has been tripped in the past (typically by me, once by a break-in). $15/mo with cell monitoring. No contract. The upfront cost is greater because you buy the system outright but the system. Good customer support. I had a low battery once that was causing odd behavior. They put me on the phone with a tech who walked me through figuring out it was a battery. He walked me through changing a setting so it will be more apparent next time. I have been very happy with them. However, I'm not sure NCA operates in your area since they have a small territory.

I emailed a couple with some land I know about adopting. Last time I talked with them they had a blue tick and a couple other hounds. They've had strong interest in other rescues I've sent their way. They're located outside of Murfreesboro. I'll report back when I hear from them. Update: I haven't talked with them in a while. Too long apparently. They're selling the farm and moving to Florida! So no new doggies for them. :-(

No luck at Inglewood Kroger. $0.79/lb for turkey. But I did score some good looking $4 steaks in the manager special bin. They've already made acquaintance with the grill.

Better late than never. I finally assembled out my TGO-15's. I have Double O Six and Double O Seven. They are carbine length free floated twins with adjustable gas blocks.

For anyone looking to beef up a door without making your door unsightly, look into Door Jamb Armor. It's supposed to be pretty good. East Nashville police and Neighborhood Watch are both recommending it since we're experiencing a rash of breakins involving kicked in front doors.

I once knew a fellow whose mouth would periodically get into similar disarray. He wasn't one to spend money on a dentist even when the situation was dire, but he did get himself patched up in an interesting way. Apparently dentistry quality in Mexico is on par with the US when it comes to root canals and crowns, but prices are much cheaper. He found a dentist he liked in Mexico City. He saved up his dental work for one big hurrah at which point he'd buy a plane ticket and get a hotel for a week. Apparently it was cheap enough to offset the travel expenses. I remember him throwing out prices like $5 for drill and fill or $250 for crowns. I'm not sure how the temporary and final crown worked out. Maybe that was part of his weeklong stay.
