  1. check with a warden at TWRA before you shoot any snakes in TN
  2. I lost that battle with a Carcano 6.5 Ital that I bought mail order for $19.99 in 1964. It's been down hill since.
  3. Five grains of Winchester 231/HP-38/Ramshot Zip under a 200 gr. .45 SWC makes a mighty accurate and soft recoil target load. It meters better than RD/Unique and shoots a lot cleaner. I could see Hodgen discontinuing all winchester powders(they have owned Winchester powders for a long time) and just going with their own brands.
  4. After having shot many thousands of cast bullets through Glocks, I have concluded that this matter is an "internet issue".  Much talked about but seldom seen.
  5.   Good folks to deal with.  But they only accept transfers from FFLs.
  6. They are making and shipping .44 Mags.  No .357s since Remington took over.  "this year" they told me at the NRA convention.   Not holding my breath.
  7. Take your calipers and measure the case length.  Should be 5.7 cm.
  8. Just  a headsup:   Ramshot ZIp is the same powder.   My dealer gets dozens of calls per day about 231 or HP 38.  Nada, but he has ZIP sitting on the shelf gathering dust.
  9. I quit playing stupid a couple of years ago.  I oiled up all my .22rfs and put them into deep storage.   I can cast a bullet and reload my own .38s, 9mm or 30-30 cheaper than I can buy a .22rf cartridge.   Cast and reload.  Let somebody else be the victim of scalpers.   At this point, I don't think my grandkids would go back to shooting 22rf at any price.  The bragging rights for a 12 or 13 year old are lots greater for 9mm or 38 than .22
  10. Call Butch at A-H Reloading.  he has a used on sitting on his counter but it had a BUNCH of extra shell plates and dies   Google for A-H in nashville.
  11. I have been loading for over 50 years.  The first 30 were the first year 30 times over.   Now I am up to 5 for 1.
  12. There have been 23 responses so far.   This illustrates that msnbc does not make up their own polls, don't read what others post for polls, and don't care because that generates 'clicks' which translates into ad revenue.   Go back to the site and make up your own poll.
  13. I wrote this one.     http://on.msnbc.com/1D2rETN
  14.     Readers form the polls.  here is a link to one that no one at msnbc would ever do.  In fact I did it: http://on.msnbc.com/1D2rETN
  15. When you go in, find the manager and tell him that you found out about Royal from TGO and came in to visit and spend money because of the great reviews on this site.   (we need new sponsors)
  16. Dave.    Thanks for the links.  I have printed off all three and will highlight pertinent parts and carry them in my vehicle when passing through ILL
  17. Here is a quote off handgunlaw.us:   430 ILCS 66/40 (e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident: (1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law; (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and (3) is not in possession of a license under this Act. If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection  of Section 65 of this Act. (Source: P.A. 98-63, eff. 7-9-13.)   My take is that is says a TN HCP holder can have a concealed gun in their vehicle.   Anyone have any better insight into this?
  18. I asked the price on the .50 BMG.  I was told, sorry for rent only.  They have not worked out rental or range rates yet.
  19. My grandfather used to say that each and every woman and mule was a separate law into itself.  ditto for rifle barrels.
  20. Oink-oink comment:   The young blond working in the store is drop dead good looking and wears tactical black verrry well, and looks very comfortable carrying a gun.   End of male-pig comment.
  21. A couple of years ago, I was shooting at another range in another state.  The club "brass rat" was there perched like a vulture waiting for the next piece of brass to hit the ground.  Rather that get cross with him as most members did, I said "Charlie, you should go out to Cavalier and scrounge brass.  They had a glock shoot there yesterday and the brass is ankle deep on every position".  I could see the pain in his eyes when he remembered that his membership at that club had been cancelled and he could not get in without a passcard and if he could, he would be arrested for trespass..     Every time I saw him thereafter, i would invent some story about mountains of brass laying on the ground in areas he could not access.   Sadistic, maybe, but it felt good.
  22. I stopped by this afternoon.  They are very well stocked with anything you can imagine.  Their powders are a buck or two cheaper than anyone else.  The selection of rimfire, pistol, rifle and shotgun ammo is staggering.   No shotgun powders that I could see.  IMR 4895 was $22.95 per pound.   Impressive numbers of rifles, pistols and shotguns on the racks for sale.   https://www.facebook.com/pages/Royal-Range/722224137854454
  23. Filling the channel with black epoxy and grinding to smaller size, that is reducing the circumference.   Robar and Arizona Response systems do good work, but I want to give the work to someone local if possible.   Thanks
  24. Is there anyone in the N'vill/boro area that does Glock grip reductions?     Thanks
