  1. I do think it would lead to more poaching if there is an antler restriction. May not last for long but thats also something to consider. What are the poaching stats for states that have antler restrictions. Note I do not condone poaching I think if you do it you are scum.
  2. Of course I will always follow the law, I am just pointing out the side of things. I have friends who hunt just for meat and I don't think they are dumb. Just speaking for them. I agree it would help out, like I told GunTroll just throwing out my opinion and arguing the other side of it. I am trying to look at it from both sides.
  3. I merged the threads because they both discuss the same topic.
  4. The thing is some people are meat hunters, I know you are going to say well they can kill a doe but thats the way some people hunt and it will never change. People have been killing deer of all sizes for a long time and doesn't seem to slow them down any and there are still decent to big bucks out there.
  5. Man i'm hungry now!
  6. Yes and I love them, especially when they take a bath in maple pancake syrup.
  7. Are they dumb because you don't agree with how they hunt? Just because you have your way and someone else has there doesn't mean that they are dumb.
  8. Not really sure what the buck to doe ratios are here in Middle TN.
  9. Your right the TWRA has to step in with a better attack plan but I am still not against nor for the antler restrictions, I would have to do more research to come up with my own conclusion.
  10. Albino mule deer
  11. I have only ever seen 1 piebald in my life and several albino deer.
  12. I think injured deer or mature bucks with small racks should be taken first, that would for sure help out the herds. Your right different people have different views and we know the TWRA does.
  13. I like strippers.....sorry I need to be correct "dancers".
  14. Your chicken egg looks like it was crossed between a chicken and human. Looks like a deformed arm. Explain that one
  15. Well I think a lot to do with "bad racks" is what kind of food source they have. I would say a full mature buck would be more around 4 to 4 1/2 years old.
  16. I think Mason there are a couple of states that do this.
  17. These days I try to take good deer but it doesn't have to be a monster. Most places I hunt don't have a lot of "big bucks" but it has descent size bucks 6 to 8 pointers. I love deer meat (best thing since sliced bread) so I usually don't pass on good bucks. Mason you are correct no matter how long you boil the antlers you still can't eat them, thats why I take my share of slick heads.
  18. Now that was funny 10Kilr.
  19. Well I hope everyone will have fun without me I know it will be hard but like I said I will be taking my HCP class .
  20. Yeah you have to bring your own ammo.
  21. They are such a cool looking animal.
  22. We can sit here and debate on this until we turn blue, but unless TN does this and sets other rules to coinside with it we will never know. I do agree that counting points will be easier than making a measurement.
  23. Still a tragic accident.
  24. If you truely want big bucks on your land then you need a good food source and buck managment, but unless you own a thousand acres or your neighbors help out it will never happen. My cousin lives in Mississippi and he said that the antler restriction does help, well the way he talks about it does.
  25. That only applies to the 2009 TWRA WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA BIG GAME QUOTA HUNTS * ANTLER RESTRICTIONS Catoosa (all hunts) - Bucks must have at least 4 antler points, 1 inch or longer, on one antler or a 15-inch minimum outside antler spread. Laurel Hill (all hunts) - Bucks must have at least 5 antler points, 1 inch or longer, on one antler or a 15-inch minimum outside antler spread. Presidents Island - Bucks must have at least 9 antler points, 1 inch or longer. Yuchi (all hunts) - Bucks must have at least 4 antler points, 1 inch or longer, on one antler or a 15-inch minimum outside antler spread.
