I have a new 7MM08, and a new 308 rifle, with a Weaver 2 to 9x40 scope, I purchased back in November. I want to give one of them to my 12 year old grandson, this fall, vie his dad. Which caliber would be the best deer hunting rifle for my deer hunting grandson? I know I will get differing opinions so just tell me why you made your choice between the two calibers. I know the 308, but not so with the 7MM 08. From the research I have done, the 08 is somewhat comparable to the 6.5 Creedmoor or 260 Remington. I would appreciate your opinions.

Good morning! I got some exciting news from my fiance that she would like to buy me an AR style rifle for my birthday, which is tomorrow. I'd love some feedback from other tall guys, with long arms (physiological arms), or short guys with long arms. I do not have to make a decision by tomorrow, and the budget is about $850. I'd like to stay within that budget on something decent out of the box, and not do many modifications. My fiance showed me a picture of a M&P Sport II OR Magpul MOE M-lol Crimson Trace Model #12939 and said her friend picked it out, but wanted to show me first before buying it, and let me pick something else if I didn't like it. I simply do not have the time, or knowledge to do the work. And cleaning... I love not cleaning my Glock 19. As for me, I'm 6'5 tall, and have a wingspan about the same as my height. My neck is long, like an ostrich, but less hairy. The challenge for me has been finding the right fit ergonomically. Most rifles have felt really uncomfortable to shoot because of having to have my arms pulled too close to my shoulders, and having to turn my head and twist my neck to get to the sights. What I have shot, or "tried on" at the dealers: Ruger AR556, Colt, M&P Sport, Daniel Defense DDM4 V7, Sig M400. Some others: Ruger Mini 14 Stainless. Although I haven't shot it yet, The DDM4 V7 felt like getting a hug from the prettiest girl in school. I need to stick within the $850 budget though to make the fiance happy. I know It may be wise to add my own money on top of the $850, but this needs to be a gift to me from her, not from us to me. I may get the Upgrade later. The mini 14 stainless steel felt the best on me other than the DdM4. I like the idea of less urgency to clean the gun. I'm seeing prices new are over the budget but used looks viable. I appreciate anyone's input. Thanks!

Hey everyone. Looking to do a trip and take my Sons down to the Alabama CMP and buy an M1 Garand. Does anyone on here have experience with visiting here? I know the paperwork requirements etc. What was the selection like in the store? Is it worth a 4 hour trip from Knoxville vs mail order?

I’m a handgun guy, never owned a long gun. Now in my 40’s I’m getting gun-curious. I swapped my 4.5” M&P 45 ACP for an AR15 with a few add-ons and a case today. I’ve never even looked at one, just seen lots of videos of people enjoying them. Seemed like an ok deal so I went with it. Now, when i say new to the AR....... I mean I had to look at how to cock it and make it dry fire. Then I figured out how to separate the upper and lower. That’s about where I’m at. Lol. i went and picked up some 223 to go shoot Sunday, it’s a 556 so no issues there. The AR is dry, so I’ll need to lube it up and look up where all I need to put oil. If there’s anything I need to know to prevent issues I’m listening.... Here’s some clickable thumbs of what I picked up.

Does anyone have or played with one of the new Remington 700 Gen 2 guns? Thinking about getting a a 300 win mag in 2020 and I'm a sucker for fluted barrels. My soul says get the Serenadro but the Gen 2s look pretty good too.

Ok not sure if this is the right place but there didn't seem to be a better one. On occasion I buy a cheap AR lower when I can find them, they sit and wait until I decide what to build them into. I bought one yesterday while in Sevierville. The new ATF forms now specifically ask if it is a long gun or handgun. WHY? I haven't made up my mind yet. So now it looks like I have to build it into a long gun because I had to choose on the spot, and I just recently built a pistol. It just don't make sense. Oh and bought a new carry gun Saturday but that is for another thread.

I am trading into this Savage MKII McRees chassis with Rifle Basix trigger, 8-32x33 20mm Mueller scope. OK, the eyepiece and sunshade may have to go, but the package appeals to me.

I'll be honest, it wasn't sure where to post this. I have a really good mate, just got back to TN from his deployment to El paso. He's looking to buy a few guns & he doesn't know of any reputable FFLs in his area. He doesn't want to travel far, so can anyone recommend a good, cheap license holder around Clarksville for transfers?

I am thinking of purchasing a new deer rifle. Everyone is telling me to get a 6.5 Creedmoor. If you have any experience with the 6.5, please tell me why everyone is so stuck on the Creedmoor. I am an old school 06 kind of man. Weatherby Vanguard 2 is said to be guaranteed to hold 1" at 100 yards. Want to stay under $1,000.00 for rifle and scope. Also what scope would you purchase?

Anyone have experience with this rifle? Accuracy, best factory loads for deer, and coyote? Pros and cons? I'm really interested in picking one up, but looking for real reviews. Thanks in advance.

when trying to bu a new hunting rifle recently, I was told I can not because my drivers lic says NYS Im a home and property owner in Tennessee though also is this a new law,? I left NYS to get away from this stuff.

I’ve got a hankering for a 22 Hornet(or possibly a 17). I’ve been wanting something more than a 22 mag but don’t like how the wind effects HMR. For some reason, I keep coming back to the Hornet. I will mostly shoot targets with the occasional groundhog, but do plan for a Prairie dog hunt sometime in the future I like the looks of the Ruger 77 but keep reading bad reviews and that it would need to be sent to CPC. I'm not big on a CZ, mostly because of the magazine hanging down. Thoughts on a Hornet? If I go 22, do I need a K chamber? 17 better or worse? Which rifle?

I love .22s! Thinking about a .22 Mag Henry lever action. Opinions from all of you about the .22 Mag round.

Has anyone seen/held/shot one of these? Looks like a Marlin Papoose clone. It looks easier to handle than a Henry Survival Rifle. It can be found cheaper than the other two. Is it the gun to fill a need that's just not there??? Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Really been thinking about one of these in 45-70 ever since they came out. Looks like a 8 pound rifle with a 25” bbl. anybody tried one? I’ve got lots of 45-70 brass, bullet molds, bullets etc. need a gun to go with it but don’t want to break the bank.

Anyone have any experience with these? The price on the lowers is a little steep, but I kinda like them aesthetically. Without being able to try one out though I was wondering if the ergonomics felt right or if it was just awkward in practice. Came across this modified one a while back (I think it was on ARFCOM). I don't remember who the person was, but it sure came out awesome!

Has anyone played with a Nosler rifle? How's the action? Is it worth the $$$$?

AK 47. I do not know what brands/makes/countries are better than others. I really want to keep the price down without loosing qualify. I see Century Arms makes one for a reasonable price but are they any good? Any other suggests without breaking the bank? I want reliable, inexpensive if such a beast exists.

I've wanted a 357 lever action forever and have been looking at them lately. Not really sure if I want a 20" or carbine but that will pretty much come down to what I think looks the best. This would be just a fun/range gun and nothing else really so I wanted to keep the price between $600 to $800. What is your opinion of the Marlin 1894C and the Henry Big Boy Steel? Thanks
