  1. So I know all you guys could fit the ammo you have in your house in a sandwich bag....lol So just curious how you would store your ammo if you had a decent amount. I am not real happy with my solution at the moment. I would like for it to be secure, but buying a safe just for ammo is probably not going to happen. Then there is protection from moisture. Not that I want to store it in an aquarium, but just to make sure my steel case does not rust. Also, having 25 ammo cans stacked up is not real handy if I need the bottom can. Plus space in my "armory" a.k.a. the garage is limited. So what do you guys use? Thanks in advance.
  2. Had a Thunderbolt fail to eject from my Ruger Mk IV Monday (yea I know about the recall from Ruger but mine is shooting fine and I'm following the rules so will continue shooting it till the box shows up to send it back) and this is what I found when I pried it out.
  3. I just saw it myself, CCI primers, no hazmat charge and FREE shipping. Coupon code on the home page-Bill
  4. Has anyone tested, or has seen a report on expansion of the PD HP bullets?
  5. SG Ammo has magtech 9mm pretty cheap right now.
  6. Does anyone have any discount codes for free shipping for Midsouth Shooters Supply? I need some bullets and the shipping for 75 miles is kinda high. Thanks!
  7. Where you find the best deals when you buy ammo in bulk?
  8. Just walked out the Gander Mountain in Hixson and they have a couple hundred boxes of 30.06 on sale at 40% off. Plenty of other calibers, but in half dozen to dozen lots. Almost out of 308 and three cases of 1000 round federal 223 left at .26 cents/Rd. picked up a RCBS Chargemaster at 40% off also have a large quantity of .40 brass available Only large pistol primers left, Winchester and Federal match
  9. Stopped by Maryville Walmart tonight to grab a couple things from hardware. Decided to stroll over to the ammo section... Had probably 50 boxes of .22 (50 rnd boxes). CCI Standard, quiet and high velocity. They had 4 1k rnd boxes earlier today he said. Best news was he was told they should be able to keep this Walmart supplied regularly and 3 box limit has been removed.
  10. I don't mind spending money on software. However, I've spent more money than I care to admit in a public forum on software that either didn't cut the mustard. Or it went obsolete and required constant updates to satisfy the bean counter residual income models. I re-entered reloading after a thirty year hiatus ... College, family, financial and other demands were the cause. Not a whole lot has changed. I've repurchased much of the equipment I used to use and upgraded some like the press. Would love to talk or meet someone that uses Quickload and run a few scenarios by them. If it does what it claims to do, I have no problem paying the $150 they ask for it. TIA
  11. I was looking through some info last night and came up with some things for shotguns that I had never heard of. I know most of us would know bird shot, slugs, and buckshot. We probably have even heard of beanbag, wax slugs, rubber slugs, cut shells, and dragon's breath rounds. Heck, I have even read about the compressed lead powder door breaching rounds. What I had never heard of is Pepper Blast rounds, Flash Thunder Grenade rounds, and Armor Piercing rounds. While I generally think if I am going to bring a gun to bear on someone that it is to the point of needing to be lethal, these interest me. Has anyone ever used/seen any of these? Looks like these guys specialize in this stuff: Firequest Exotic Shotgun Ammo Some of the ammo is kind of silly to me like the "12 Gauge Piranha" which is filled with "dozens of razor sharp steel tacks" and #12 shot. I think at that point, just use buckshot. Maybe it is less likely to carry through walls or something. Mostly, it is just marketing hype. I am not sure that the pepperblast rounds would be hard to make, but if it is just powder, range would be very short and could blow back toward you if the wind was right.
  12. I don't know if Federal Primers are still in short supply. We stopped at Outdoor Junction in Cookesville on our way to Nashville. They had sr, lr, sp, and lp primers on the shelf
  13. Anybody use this powder for the BO? I want to load 110gr-125gr for small to medium game, coyote and such. I have some Barns TAC-TX and some Nosler ballistic tip I'd like to try.
  14. Wideners no longer sells powder or primers. Here's a portion of an email reply I got concerning this. Thank you for reaching out to us at Wideners! Unfortunately, we have not been offering powder or primers for the past couple of months. We continued to face higher costs to comply with regulations around the storage, sale, and shipping of powder and primers. You’ve probably noticed the increase in hazardous materials shipping fees, but that’s just a small part of the costs. We also faced greater local, state, and federal regulations that placed a difficult burden on retailers like us, who focus on serving the small reloader. It was a hard decision to stop selling powder and primers because we have sold them for so long, and especially because several of us are avid reloaders ourselves. However, we will still offer bullets, casings, and pre-primed casings with the same friendly customer service our customers expect and deserve. We are also already going to work, expanding our selection of loaded ammunition to ensure we can be of help for shooters who enjoy every corner of the passion we all share.
  15. I am a relatively new member, and have recently started reloading again, after a 30 year hiatus (reloaded mostly 45ACP, and .357 on a single stage in my younger years). currently, I am reloading only 9x19 on a 550B. The frustration I have is that the reload manuals, as well as the powder mfg don't show the bullets I am using (and yes the thought has occurred to me that I should be buying Sierra, Berry's, etc.). I have bought bullets from The Reloaders bench (FMJFN 124gr), as well as from Xtreme and Rocky mountain Reloaders (both TMJRN 124gr). I am trying different powders (Unique, Tightroup and Accurate#2 so far) these all seem to run well through several semiauto pistols. I also bought some FMJRN 115gr from Federal Armament, that I cant figure out at all (really bad Key holing/accuracy). so, what I am seeking is a way to cross reference the bullets I am using (now and future) to the loading information available. I have downloaded info from all the powder mfg I am using, and own the current Lee and Lyman 50th. I am sure there is a simple way to accomplish the goal, but my ignorance is keeping me from reaching it. any input is appreciated D3
  16. I visited my local GT Distributor today and found that they had Winchester Ranger T-Series ammo available AND on sale. I had been looking for that ammo for quite a while. They had boxes of .40 S&W 180 grain, 50rs/box for $16.00/box. I grabbed two boxes. I shot most of one box at the range and it definitely had some umph to the recoil (at least it seemed that way to me vs the 165 grain fmj and Speer Gold Dots I am used to. My question is does anyone here use that ammo and if so, is it better than say the Gold Dots or HST's or is it all just a matter of preference? I have read that they are basically the Black Talon without the black Lubalox coating on them. The photos I have seen of the expanded "talons" looks super wicked. I am going to find out if they may carry any of those rounds in 165 grains.
  17. With the right load, I still like my 40. Those last two 45 loads are inspiring! got to get a couple boxes of that medicine! http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/self-defense-ammo-ballistic-tests/#9mm
  18. Anyone know where a man can obtain some factory loaded 357 maximum ? I've got a new kid to feed
  19. The Serbs have invaded again and I'm ready to buy. 55gr .223 $5.79/20 Great prices on .303, 7.62 tok, .357/.38 as well. If anyone wants to share a coupon code OR add share shipping and add some ammo to my order (please be committed) and lives in Knox, let me know.
  20. I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but if not can someone tell me where I need to post it. I have an opportunity to lay my hands on some pure lead but I have no clue what pure lead is worth or selling for. If someone could steer me in a direction I could get a price it would be very much appreciated. I'm talking a pretty large quanity of lead. I don't do reloading but I am sure someone here does and might be able to point me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bersaguy
  21. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA1RsmxYtCmKeV1FkrgJNFg Some interesting videos here on how well rounds penetrate barriers. Maybe not all that scientific in his methods but some of his videos are interesting.
  22. Got a good deal on the last tin of Bulgarian 7.62 x 54R that a guy had I just bought a Mosin Nagant off of. Only thing is that he did not have an opener. I can pick one up pretty cheap, but do I need it? I don't what to be prying this open with a crowbar but I doubt I will buy a lot of these cans. On another note. Anyone seen any good deals on the 7.62 x 54R? seems like several good deals have dried up suddenly. This is a pic of the one he had posted that had an opener.

  25. round two. warming up to the thought of reloading .223 for my AR (Saint), have spent hours on line, including you tube. seems like the re-size/trim after first shot is important. thinking about setting up a single stage press for re-size/decap. Really like carbide, but want to have the most control over re-sizing (thinking FL). target: most accurate load @ 100yd or less. would love to hear thoughts on the best die from a precision re-size standpoint. thank you in advance,
