  1. Just to be crystal clear up front, I'm specifically NOT trying to sell any guns here, trying to get advice on how to proceed. My wife's uncle passed away, and his wife legally passed his gun collection down to us. We are keeping what we want, and are attempting to sell the rest. I sold some of them to our local shop, but the price that they're offering on two specific items is way too low - that's what they're able to offer, specifically based on their current inventory (a glut of these specific types of handguns). Just for reference, what they're offering is around 45% of the price I've seen these specific guns sell for privately. I understand they need to make money (and don't begrudge them that at all), but for the others they purchased from me, they gave me around 70% - 75% of what they're going to sell them for. With the show coming up this weekend, I figured I'd go up and try to sell them - as near as I can tell, it would be pretty safe (from a legal perspective) for me as a seller; assuming the prospective buyer has a current TN carry permit, the state of TN has done a legal background check, and I can be assured as a seller that to the best of my knowledge (to meet the state's requirements for a private sale) the buyer is legally allowed (by the state) to purchase, correct? Next question: according to a 2015 story, RK Gun Shows (whom the upcoming show is put on by) is no longer allowing private sales at their shows without a background check. Does the buyer having a current TN carry permit meet that requirement? If this doesn't meet that requirement, is there a way to have the check done at the show prior to the sale? To be perfectly honest, I'm not interested in meeting up with someone in the parking lot just to avoid running afoul of RK Show's rule. I'd much rather do it safely (from both a personal and legal perspective) and keep it all above board. As a condition of the sale, I will be capturing the individual's personal information, including their HCP number / DL number (since they're the same thing in TN). For my (legal) peace of mind, I will not be selling to someone who doesn't have a permit, and I would have serious issues selling to someone who would have an issue with providing me that documentation for a private sale. I just want to handle this all correctly, legally, and above-board - please let me know if I can clarify anything, I apologize for the length of this post - I just wanted to be as clear and specific as possible!
  2. How can we convince major gun companies that the .357 sig is not a dying caliber and is an amazing round that is in a league of it's own when compared to other stout rounds, also convince more major gun manufacturers to start producing the gun again in multiple variations to appease their loyal gun community. THESE GUNS WILL SALE!!!JUST MAKE EM ALREADY!
  3. Moped

    Ruger LCP

Just picked one up on auction this week. Used, in the box, but looks like it has never been fired. Anything I need to know about them? Best place to get an extra mag for it? I already I figure it's not going to be a fun gun at the range. Any thoughts on a concealed carry belt holster for one? I've been pocket carrying a Keltec P32 and the holster for it, fits the LCP. They are virtually the same pistol, but the LCP is a little beefer and has a better quality finish. But it only cost me $27 more.
  4. Chucktshoes

    BHP

So, I said my FAL needed a friend... Friend of mine who works at GT sent me a message cause he knew I’ve been after a decent older one at a fairly low price. I believe it’s a Mark III, 1990 production year by the serial #. She’s gonna get some wood grips and I’ll decide whether or not she’ll get a new finish after cleaning out the crud and rust. Now I guess I really do need to get on finding some Rhodie shorts in size “fat”.
  5. My BgB (best gun buddy) ended up with two P224s and was considering selling one. This one came with the .40 and .357 barrel, night sights, improved trigger and upgraded G10 grips...and yes, I got the BgB deal. First impressions opening the box, this is a beefy pistol and looks bigger than it is, despite being dimensionally the same height and lengths as a G26 (and Walther PK 380) The front strap height is where I get picky with any compact or smaller pistol. I can shoot with my pinky unsupported, but don't like it. With the mag extension, the front strap allows all 3 fingers to grip and it is the same height as a G26 and Kimber Micro with an extended mag. Comparing it to my svelte CZs, I can hear the Sig guys saying, "we're here to pump up your little girly man pistols." It is the thickest pistol I own at 1.50", but the grip shape feels better than my modifed G19/26. I am impressed with the trigger; advertised at 10# DA and 4.4# SA. The DA pull is smooth, I can only detect a little friction. I'm not a trigger snob, but can compare to other guns sent to a custom shop. No stacking, even with a slo-mo pull. SA break, reset and take up are good enough that a trip to the Sig Armorer is not immediately (if ever) required. My opinion only, I think the Sig trigger may be good out of the box and easy to improve due to it's design. It appears to be similar to the CZ Omega trigger, in that it has a single trigger bar vs. the traditional horseshoe shape in my non-Omega CZ. A few things to get use to: frame mounted decocker is great, but for a lefty, takes a little extra manipulation to engage and the slide release is definitely positioned for a righted handed shooter. Assuming it passes a function test and I can shooter it accurately, the grip height is great for my body shape and AIWB.
  6. It's heavy, ugly as sin, cheap, and has one awful trigger, but shoots remarkable well! I'm talking about my new Hi-Point 45! I kind of/sort of bought it as a joke and even ordered new grips for it with $100 bills on it from hipoint45.com just to make it that much uglier... but I am really impressed with it. My Mom, Son, and I have a family shooting night at least once a month so I took it out to Royal Range tonight to play with it. 7 Yards produced the following:
  7. So I’ve suddenly been bit with the desire to place an RMR on my carry gun. My first thought was to get an MOS 19, but considered considering other options. Id prefer to stay Glock, but am open to perhaps a Walter PPQ, CZ, or other. Requirements: Must accept Trijicon RMR 9mm Glock 19 size 15+ capacity I do think the MOS 19 is my choice but open to arguments.

  9. I'm looking for a buddy in the Cleveland/Chattanooga area that wouldn't mind me shooting some rounds through their RMR equipped pistol. Preferably, it'd be a Glock and/or Trijicon, but really anything would do. I just want to give it a go before I sink a lot of money into building a good carry setup. I've read that red dots on pistols make most people slower because they are trying to place the dot on target. On one hand I could see this being true; On the other hand it seems like with training it would be negligible. Also, if anyone specifically has a Glock 19 MOS, I'd love to hear your input as to whether the MOS is the way to go or if getting a regular Glock machined is the way to go.
  10. I believe I read somewhere that its legal to ship a handgun from one individual to another if its within the same state. No FFL transfer needed. Is this true? If so, can anyone provide details or cite the law?
  11. I've gotten into a much better paying career field, and have decided it's time to really play with some firearm ideas. I've always ever had a 1911, and a .357 magnum revolver. I've decided I like the idea of only having to worry about 1 caliber. I really like the 1911 platform, and really like the fact that somebody makes one in .357 magnum but frankly, it's not cheap. Does anybody here have any experience with one and can let me know if it's worth it?
  12. Monday my son & I were on our way back home from Asheville and since Bud's gun shop is only a few miles off our route home, we thought who can resist. So we stopped. I had no intension of swiping plastic for anything other than some 22 std vels.....maybe. That philosophy failed miserably since unknown to me Buds bought a bunch of these police Star BM 9mm pistols to dump on the market. The carot came in the shape of a big yellow sale tag on original boxed guns with the $199.99 digits printed largely across the center of the tag. Now I'v seen this sort of bate & sell before in shotgun news and other on line distributors with even better pricing but who knows what condition you end up with and the Star had a good rep but I never held one of these older steel frame BM guns in my hand. I had to fix my ignorance of the matter by getting to hold the sample on one of the 6 boxes in the case. Needless to say, I was quite impressed with the scaled down 1911 9mm! Further thought provoked me into getting all 6 guns out of their boxes and bingo, a near mint unit with about 90 percent hardly worn blueing. I jumped on it as did my son for the second best one. All I can say is wow.... what a deal on a very well made mini 1911 style 9mm. Very happy with its quality of craftsmanship. 36 feet off a wood block rest with wolf ammo I highly recommend these steel Star BM's as great "cant kill it" 9's...... that handle great box after box!
  13. Picked up an HK P30 V3 the other day : ) Replacing my Glock 19 as primary (but the Glock isn't going anywhere; I still like it).
  14. Stumbled across this, and it stowed away as I left the shop! Has a removable plate for ez optic install, high sights for easy can add ons, comes w 2 24 and 1 17 round mag w case and flat blackstrap. Awesome awesome pistol. Only bad thing? It’s new so holsters are scarce. Finally went online for a cheapie, will order one at red hill today.Hate to say it but being a sig fan, this makes me an fn fan. Zero issues. Runs like a sewing machine, emptied the 17 round w junk 125 gr ball ammo, this just screamed! Enjoy!

CMP 1911’s This is amusing. http://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/1911-information/
  16. Pretty much what the title says. Looking to see if there is that "gold standard" thread about holsters. Just bought a sig p320 subcompact with accessory rail and wanted to see what holster(s) everyone likes for their pistol (I know what is right for one person is awful for the next, but it gives me something to narrow the search). Thanks so much!!!
  17. After having several Dan Wesson pistols in 45 acp and 10mm I added a second valor in 9mm to the group today. I had several 9mm pistols but the only full size 1911 was a Rock Island. after a few hour drive getting home it's too late for a range trip today. However in the morning it expect it to fire a few hundred rounds without a failure as all the other DW pistols have done.
  18. Am I the only one having a heckuva time figuring out how to post a new classified here ? Seems like 47 years in IT left me unprepared for such technical things. LOL ! But, I'll see if this works. Y'all tell me how I goofed. ****Use of the Trading Post is reserved for Benefactors and Authorized Vendors****

    Glock 36

How's the Glock 36 now days ? Originally the 36 was hit and miss and it didn't have a light rail. I see now that it is still being produced by Glock and now has a light rail. So I assume it is better since it is still produced and all. Anyone here own one ? I am wondering about getting the 36 or the Shield 45 . The only thing I hate about the Shield 45 is the fact that the rear sight has to be removed to detail strip it as it holds the trigger/firing pin safety guts. I guess Glock has spoiled me .
  20. I took the plunge and ordered and picked up my new CZ Custom SP-01 Shadow. Friday evening after work I was able to put it in my hands. Because of the gully washer rain there was no chance to shoot it on Friday. So Saturday I took the gun to a local IDPA match just to show it to some of my fellow shooters. Next thing I knew I had on a borrowed holster and mag pouch. It's first shot was going to be on stage one. Man is that thing sweet. Zero problems out of the gun, one mental mistake (procedural- down3) , and two bad shots (down 5 X2) put me in 19th place. I've shot so much with the Glock that all the moves are drilled in my head, reload, seat the mag, drop the slide and get on target. At least three times my body tried to drop the slide using the CZ's safety lever. And not one time did it work...and I tried hard!
  21. I recently met HiPower and ended up driving away with the Walther he had in the trading post. Odd timing on the acquisition as I had recently posted in the gun burn out thread. Strange how we justify stuff... Hopefully this review won't suck and add value to the extensive reviews and posts i read on line before buying. Finish: stainless steel slide with nicely finished edges. Nothing sharp detected to snag or cut. Roll marks are clean. No wear to finish on safety. Glock like barrel to frame lock up. Sights are good, made of metal. 3 dot set up; red dot on front light silver post, 2 white on dark gray rear. The color pips appear to be some kind of tube inserts, but not luminescent. I like the light colored front post, curious to shoot. Here is real picky: casting marks are visible under close inspection on the rear sight and hammer. Frame finish is just as good with the centerline seam being only slightly detectable. Carl Walther, Made in Germany along with Walther logo on grips is cleanly imprinted. Hard to make out in picture. .380 Auto is clearly engraved / etched (?) on the exposed part of the chamber in the ejection port. It is comfortable in my hand, well contoured, is full ambi with paddle mag release. Interior finish is good, neat and tidy with no apparent unfinished edges. I can see a bit of machining on the feed ramp and it is rough to touch. Surprised they cheaped out here. The other cost saving on finish is the unexposed part of the chamber. Maching marks are visible and not polished to same level. Picture shows no effort to polish underside of breach. A non issue since I'll see it when I clean it. Metal guide rod with a twisted wire coil spring (pictured) It looks like the barrel is placed in the breach, then the breach is hammered to hold the barrel in place. Picture shows two blows to the breach. Fit: I may have read it and missed it, but discovered the barrel is flared for better lock up with the slide. Hard to see in picture. Slide to frame is looser than my Kimber Micro or G2 G19. Since I've been shooting CZs for so long, it seems a rattle trap. When the safety is on, the hammer is blocked from striking the firing pin, all other action continues to work. I guess you could carry SA, safety on. If I carry, it will be safety off, hammer down, speaking of which, it has a half cock position. 12# DA trigger is long with noticeable stack in slow motion. Comparing it to my CZs in the high 6s, it will require some getting use to. Advertised at 4# SA, it too is heavier than recent experience, but not so much as compared to DA. In both actions, it is suprisingly smooth, no noticeable metal to metal / pastic contact for increased friction. Almost as smooth as my two improved CZs. Best I can tell is very light round count, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it truly wears in. I would compare the break to a snap vs. the crack of a good SA, with virtually no slack on the reset. Not put off needing a take down tool, as anything can be repurposed. Planning on shooting tomorrow, will report back. Forgot: it has no manual slide stop. Only way to lock open it to insert an empty mag or shoot it dry. Manual of arms, sling shot to charge. One reviewer said it closes on a loaded mag every single time, design feature. Not so sure about that at this point.
  22. Walther has recently put this pistol on the market. I've had a hankering for this since David posted about it some months ago on Shooters Nation. The RMSc is a compact version of the Shield used on larger pistols. Walther mills the slide at the factory, comes complete with RMSc mounted, plus a plate to use if you need to remove the sight. Your standard iron sights will co-witness with the RMSc installed. The PPS M2 RMSc is the same pistol as the PPS M2. MSRP is $699, tho you can get it a few $$ less from a dealer. My problem is, haven't been able thus far to lay my hands on one. I want to see if this will work for me. My old eyes aren't what they used to be, as far as focusing on iron sights. Possibly the red dot will help, maybe not. Reviews on the Walther forum from those who have bought one, really like it. We'll see,......if I can get my paws on one for a few.
  23. Can anyone help me indentify this. Caliber, year, make ; value? Thanks in advance
  24. While researching for a post on another forum, I ran across this site and it brought back some memories. Mousegunner was a member here and use to post a lot about pocket pistols and other firearms. I had forgotten he had started a web page with his thoughts and opinions on pocket pistols and other firearms. Someone else took it over after his death in the Summer of 2011 (with the permission of his family, I am assuming)and it's still available and has been updated with guest reviews. I saved it to my tool bar. You all might want to do the same. http://www.mouseguns.com/index.htm
  25. Classic is running the Star BM 9mm surplus pistols for $150. That's really a pretty good price for a nice compact size 9mm. They are 1911 style. I've got one I purchased from AIM several months ago and it's been a great shooter and fun gun. It's a little heavy compared to the polymer frame guns, but still I think a good value. It's pretty accurate and an easy shooter. I've updated a few things on mine and plan to give it a try for CCW. If you order one be sure to grab a couple of spare mags for $20 ea. https://www.classicfirearms.com/star-model-bm-9mm-8rd-original-box-manual-fair-condition?utm_source=bm23&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Image:+Star+Model+BM+SA+9mm+Semi-Auto,+4"+barrel,+8+Rd+Mag,+Original+Box+and+Manual+-+Surplus+-+Fair+to+Good+Surplus+Condition&utm_content=Special+Deal+On+Star+Model+BM+Pistols&utm_campaign=2018-07-23_StarModelBM&_bta_tid=08000453255476413427172220921536826126798580852209224883258073704786410786312845113842627835126078035207
