  1. A more carry-able carry gun. I have to hand it to them, did not rest on their laurels knowing the competition would respond. I personally am a huge fan of factory ported guns and am glad to see it. Sights would change your manual of arms potentially. Its interesting. https://www.sigsauer.com/store/p365-sas.html?utm_campaign=P365SAS_LAUNCH&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Eloqua
  2. Out of the blue my Dad asked me for help to locate a Colt 1911 Government Model.45 for a friend. Particulars have been pretty limited so far. I am trying to get more details second hand. I have Googled looking for online retailers. I am not a 1911 expert, but I know a bit. Just difficult to narrow down search results with so many options in 1911s Anyone know anywhere that is better than others to find a deal on one? Thanks
  3. So, For my next handgun, I am pretty sure Ill get a Glock 19 Gen5, I have a GSSF certificate I plan on putting my usual Trigicon HD sites on it but also the Zev Pro magwell, as I am not a fan of the cutout on the Gen 5 19, and I love the look of it on an all black gun, I love my 19x with no finger grooves, so more than likely I will love the Gen 5 just wondering if any of you have put one together like this?
  4. For any who are hunting one, $579 and change. Salesman said they have one only.
  5. Defender

    Keltec CP33

Using the search feature on the front page showed no results for this. Has anyone seen/shot the new Keltec CP33 .22LR pistol? I picked up a S&W Victory earlier this year or late last year and have not been in the market for a new .22 since then, but this little pistol looks sweet. Just watched a video of it on Hickok 45's youtube channel and it looked awesome. Comes standard with 33 round mags and has an add on for a 50 round capacity. Has a threaded barrel and his ran flawlessly pretty much for the most part. I understand they are in short supply, of course, and not sure of the costs but supposedly under 350 or so.
  6. If I can get one less than $200 believe I will give it a run.
  7. Yes, I bought one... it is in transit. I ran a few searches here and found very little discussion on the PX4 series; I wasn't surprised. The PX4 in general seems to be overlooked in the tumultuous cloud of handgun discussions, being out-shined by it's 92 and Nano relatives. I've always been a bit of a rebel. I bought a Walther CCP when everyone hated them (or loved them... no in-between) and have no regrets. So when I was looking around for a small hi-cap DA/SA CC gun that had serious rep & quality behind it I was a bit shocked to discover the PX4 SC. I've mainly been a "Glock Guy", the wife and I have owned several over the years. But awhile back I handed down my only DA/SA firearm (a Bersa Pro UC 9) and discovered that I miss it....very reliable and accurate but a bit larger than I wanted (more G19 sized) for CC. The PX4 SC is "baby Glock" sized, tho' more rounds and a different action. Yes I know it's "chubby"...so is a G26....I have one. I tested out a rental FS PX4 at the range and was happy with the result. I think I'll be even happier with the SC version, "bat wings" and all. We shall see.
  8. It appears that Colt is making a new King Cobra model revolver. I saw an ad in Guns & Ammo magazine this past issue. Makes me giddy that they may reissue the Python and my fave...the Anaconda https://www.colt.com/detail-page/king-cobra-357
  9. Picked up one of these S&W EZ 380s from Academy a while back for 329.00. This is the version without thumb safety. It does everything a .380 is supposed to but easier: 1) shoots fast to point of aim (recoil is negligible) 2)reliable 3) mags are the easiest center pistol mags I have ever loaded 4) You can rack the slide with two fingers. It is not as small as my Keltec P32 but it is so easy to grab and shoot. I can't begin to recall all the small handguns I have owned, including various ultra light revolvers. This thing beats them all in terms of ease of use. I am not getting younger. A review: https://dailycaller.com/2018/06/28/gun-test-sw-mp-380-shield-ez/
  10. I have 3 pistols chanbered in .357 Magum. I have 3 rifles chambered in .357 Magnum. I want a .357 Magnum semi-auto. I know, I know. Why not get a 10mm? Why not get a .40? Because I reload .357, have a ton of .357 ammo and don't want to introduce another caliber. I so eagerly want a .357 semi-auto carbine. If anyone else is interested in one of these conversions, please contact MechTech today and show your support. They won't build a conversion unless you ask. They are already doing conversions for other 1911s. I want them to build an upper for the Coonan 1911. Please show your support by contacting MechTech today: https://mechtechsys.com/Contact/tabid/6648/Default.aspx After contacting them, please share this post to other gun blogs so the interest can spread. I don't want to have to pay a gunsmith thousands of dollars to do this conversion for me. I wasn't quite sure whether to put this post in handguns or long guns forum. Technically, it's both.
  11. So I'm thinking of upgrading my carry from an gen 1 LCP to a micro 1911 (I like the platform and that's what I typically shoot). I understand for 1911s, we check the barrel to slide to frame fit and that's typically an indication of quality/accuracy. I've handled about 3 or 4 different Sig p938s and a Springfield 911 recently. And they are loose - lateral movement of the slide, able to press down and move the barrel, etc. Did I just happen upon poor representaion of these guns? They are just made with super loose fit to improve reliability? How accurate are these guns? Thank you!

    CMMG Banshee 300

It has been quite a few years since I have posted anything. I honestly think I burned myself out shooting so much a few years back that I just walked away from the gun community altogether. I am slowly working my way back into it as time allows. That said, I went to a local gun show a few weeks ago and saw so many new things that I never knew existed. One of the things I saw that really made me smile was a CMMG Banshee 300 Mk 57. The FN Five Seven was my first handgun I ever purchased, and it is still one of my favorites. To have the 5.7 as a PDW on an AR platform was really cool. Does anyone have an familiarity with them or with the quality of CMMG? I am not all that familiar with them either. Thanks.
  13. Guys, I have a request. I have a Model 624 44 Special, a pre-lock model, that a buddy has made an offer on, and I don't really where I sit on this. I've had it for quite a while. Of course a SS, 4" barrel, 3/4 underlug, original grips, adjustable rear sights and high front blade, no box, and in an easy 95% condition. S# H88_ _ _, can't find my S&W book tonight. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Oh, the offer...a Walther Q5. Used, with 3 mags. I like it, but do I love it?
  14. Anyone have one? I don’t have a .22 pistol for my M&P collection because I didn’t want the one made by Walther. I have been told that the M&P 22 Compact is being made by Smith & Wesson here. As this won’t be a carry gun I would rather have the full size; but it is what it is. So my question is this… My 617 is a K-frame. It’s the same as any other K-frame except it’s a .22. I don't see how this M&P 22 could be close to the same, as it’s about half the weight of my 40 Compact. (But its nearly the same cost) I wonder how it would compare to a Victory on accuracy?
  15. I'm not sure how I missed this. Are the rest of you aware that Glock has made Blue Label pricing available to veterans? In my case it was about a 20% discount. Certainly enough to push me over the edge on that little 43X I've been eyeballing. https://us.glock.com/en/buy/blue-label-program
  16. Okay, since they make the 92G and the military M9 there, am I safe in assuming I can get a 92 marked Gallatin? I don’t want to pay hundreds extra for that marking as in the 92G Tennessee gun. So you Beretta guys school me. What’s the difference in an M9 and a 92? I just want the Gallatin marking in the 92 style and don’t care about any military stuff. Also, If I’m buying a blue/black gun, I want it to be a high polish blue/black; not some crummy matte or painted finish. Does Beretta do that at Gallatin on a standard gun? This would be a range toy that would get used. I’m not going to try to carry it, and I’m not looking for a collectable. Which Beretta do I need?

  18. Only an 1" difference and now 15rds of 9mm....the P365 is gonna be hard to topple. https://www.sigsauer.com/store/p365-micro-compact-15rd-9mm-magazine.html?utm_source=Sig+Emails&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=P365+15+Rd+Mag&utm_content=P365+15+Rd+Mag
  19. My FN 509 MRD arrived this past week and I wasted no time popping a spare Trijicon RM07 red dot optic on it and taking it to the range. This is my second 509, having purchased the non optic-ready midsize 509M earlier this year and being very pleased with it as well. As I have commented elsewhere on TGO lately, I am quickly coming to the point where I am not interested in a handgun for daily carry if isn't set up for use with an optic. I began the red dot journey a year ago and am fully converted to the religion now. If you had asked me about it two years ago, I would have told you I was greatly skeptical. This one of those things where personal exposure and experience are the greatest persuaders. As for the 509 MRD, there is is only one reason that this gun could could fail to put a hurt on the sale of more well known 9mm handguns for duty or serious concealed carry: lack of marketing exposure. FN doesn't have the marketing budget of Glock or Smith & Wesson, I'm sure. But they have a superior firearm in the 509. There. I said it. Buy one before the rest of the world figures it out and you have to wait to find one.
  20. So me and a few friends was having a discussion the other day and one showed me his newly traded 19x he got from a individual. He was carry it in a iwb holster concealed. I asked if that was allowed in Tennessee and he said he looked but could find anything saying it was illegal. So I guess my question is can your ccw be unregistered in Tennessee?

  22. Call me weird, but I really DO like oddball stuff. Is anyone else here a big fan or collector of the 'unreliable-yet-loveable'? Reason I ask, is that tomorrow morning I'm going to pick up a dream gun. A pistol I've been fantasizing about for nearly 10 years. It's absolutely SLATED online by 8:10 owners, but I don't care. I saw my first one in September 2009 & I've been looking for one ever since. It's an early model, SAO, AMT Backup .380 I know they're terrible carry pieces with all the reliability of a Jennings & a little more weight than a full size 1911, but something about it spoke to me the first time I ever set eyes on one at my friend's house in Florida. The full stainless construction, minimal sights, heel-release 5 round magazine, 1911 styling with the polished slide..........I know, I absolutely know, it probably won't get through a full mag without an issue or failure, but dammit, it's such a nice looking little thing. Anyone else got a shameful secret love? There must be someone else out there with a Jiminez they'd never carry, but never ever sell........ (Stock photo, but I'm going to be sleepless tonight, waiting to get one!)
  23. I've just been given this by a really good friend (it's good to help out sometimes!) As far as I can tell it's a Model 32 (possibly a Terrier) in .38 s&w That's pretty much all kinds can find online about it. I found a couple on Gunbroker with values that, to me, seem outlandish, but I can't find any dating info for the serial number. It has one number on the butt, that matches inside the grips, but there's a different number on the inside of the crane. Can anyone help me out with dating/value info please? This is my first actual Smith revolver.....
  24. I got carried away on my Hi-Point Topic regarding this trade and reason I did and an evaluation of the Spectrum ( I have not shot it yet, just notice the scratch trigger pull - double action in case you did not know that). Summarize part of the reason for the trade was because of the $35 rebate on the Spectrum (by Taurus) and Smoky Mtn Gun did offer to trade. Not much offer, but $75 for the gun, case, extra Mag. So, final cost cash from me was $79.66 for the switch. Then thought I should start a new topic on the TAURUS SPECTRUM 380 based on my evaluation at this point. Maybe, someone has some experience with the firing pin (removal) that I don't. HMMM!!! Just realized be easier to go copy from my Hi-Point post to paste it here than to retype it. I did and came back to edit this post. I add an evaluation with out having shot the Spectrum 380. U-Tube reviews in general are good. It Is What It Is, a low priced small pistol primarily made for easy Concealed Carry, and not a target pistol although some folks do pretty good shooting it. I have not shot it, but did break it down, lube it and have racked it hundreds of times (cheap break in with out AMMO). By the way, a very easy break down, turn one screw head 1/4 turn CCW and pull slide off, put slide back on and the lock screw resets itself. Barrel and spring with rod is easy out also. My main issue not having shot it is the Trigger Pull, it is double only so a long pull before break and a long reset. The worst thing is the trigger is scratchy during the long pull. Having the slide off I noticed the trigger pull is very smooth with out the slide (only the trigger parts and not setting the firing pin in the slide). I then moved the firing pin back (manually) on the slide and you can feel the scratchiness. I took the spring and short rod (it's in the rear of the slide) out of the slide and you still feel the scratchiness when moving the firing pin by hand. Removing the firing in beyond what I did is a DIFFICULT procedure with a number of small springs and a pin involved per U-Tube posts (check U-Tube for Taurus Spectrum 380 Firing Pin Removal). There are only two posts and they are not complete.: One guy is misled in thinking the firing pin is the rod in the spring. That rod is not the firing pin, it is rod to guide the spring. He does at least show how to remove that spring and rod from the slide. The other guy's presentation is more informative as he did have his firing pin out at one time (he says). HOWEVER, he dose not show the removal. He points out that the main block in the slide where the firing pin is actually located (call it the firing pin assembly) can be removed. However, he points out he had a very hard time getting it back together as total of three little springs to deal with and a pin he nearly lost. I had not researched U-Tube before looking at mine (dumb), but at least I did not go so far as to remove the block (firing pin assembly). I did remove the rear spring and rod. I did then manually slide the firing pin (call it the tip the trigger moves) by hand and could feel the scratchiness. SO, IT IS IN THE FIRING PIN ASSEMBLY. The black tube 'thingy' I slid back reaches a stop, but there is a button (Thin about 1/4 inch) in the slide near the rear that releases that black tube 'thingy' and allows it to slide back another 1/2 inch. That exposes a bit more of the firing pin, a metal portion shows up that appears to have some wear (remember this gun has not been fired, but dry fired maybe 10 times at most). The black tube 'thingy' that seems to contain the firing pin is blocked from coming any further. SO, NOT MUCH ELSE can be done in that position. I AM GLAD I DID NOT GO FURTHER as not knowing what I am doing. I would like to maybe Emory Paper it smoother if I could gain access to it after a closer look. I will just go and see if it shoots at this point. Hope I did not mess anything up. ANYONE have any experience with the Spectrum 380 (in particular the firing pin and trigger scratchiness)?????
