This past week I moved from VA to TN. Prior to my move, I was offered a deal I had to take. My final act as a Virginia resident was a deal I worked with a gentleman to find a new home for this beautiful, unconverted gun. Bluing is beautiful, grips are beautiful, couple nicks here and there. Nice plum color on the loading gate. Serial number 31610. Overall, very pleased with this one. This particular Old Model Flattop configuration is rare and not your average Ruger. Very excited to take this bad boy out!

If you haven't been able to tell yet, I love my wheel guns! And the wheel gun that I first fell in love with was the Ruger Single Six! Have quite a few of these, but these are my favorites. This is a 1958. And this is a pair of 50's vintage. The one on the left is a flatgate 1956 and the other is a 1958. Another of the flatgate. Frame is starting to "plum". Anyone else a Single Six fan?

I inherited a original box stock 70 series, nickel plated, Colt Commander, 1911 in .45 ACP. When I received it the nickel plating looked horrible. Half of it had flaked off and there were a lot of mild, superficial rust spots. (no pitting.) I : cerakoted it Tungsten grey with black controls, etc. upgraded it to standard non-adjustable combat sights (rather than the tiny original sights.) installed a really nice wide profile beaver tail safety installed a long skeletonize trigger. What would be an approximation of its value now? The cerakote and upgrades have just been done. The pistol has zero blems now. Thanks!

Hello, I am aware that Tennessee has the castle doctrine extended to a person in legal possession of a vehicle. I am also aware a person over the age of 18 can possess a handgun but not purchase. I can not find a clear answer to: Can an 18-21 year old have loaded handgun in a vehicle they legally possess? or any references? Thanks

I found a good deal on a Beretta 92-FS Compact from Gunprime, so I ordered a pair of them. They shipped out quickly, and my FFL got them in just a couple of days. I've been looking for a 92 Compact for a while. But most of the places around here were either out of stock, or else they flat out wanted too much. I got these for $428.99 each, brand new in the box. A hell of a deal. They shipped with 2, 13 round magazines, and are Italian made guns. I replaced the plastic grips with the factory Beretta Walnut grips that I picked up from Gnarly Gorilla. The Walnut grips really richen up the looks of these Beretta's. I also got a few of the X-Grip Magazine Adapters from Greg Cote. They allow the use of the full size 15 and 17 round magazines in the compact's without sticking out of the bottom of the gun. And they're not much longer than the 13 round magazines supplied with the pinky rest. Now both my wife and I will each have our own. So all in all it was a good day. I got this in a trade a while back. Kind of rare PPC, being it is .357 GP100 with Mascot sight rib, unknown gunsmith. It is an early serial # GP100. The trigger rolls so nice. It is fun to shoot from cupcake .38s to fullhouse .357s.

I just purchased the Ruger Mark IV Hunter to replace the Ruger Mark IV Target that I sold to my business (so my clients can use my personal awesome competition gun to qualify, if they don't have their own gun). The Hunters' weight is in between the Target and the Competition. I felt I liked the balance of the Hunter better than the front heavy Competition so I went with the Hunter for my new competition gun. Here are my initial findings. Very pleased overall. It came with 2 mags, slab grips, TruGlo fiber optic front sight, V rear sight. As new, it felt very tight and a little gritty, so I cleaned and lubed thoroughly before shooting it the first time. It felt a lot better after that! In two short range sessions, I tested 5 types of .22lr ammo, at least 2 magazines of each. I used both the two new magazines and several older magazines I used for competition with my Mark IV Target. I did not mix ammo in individual magazines. All ammo and magazines tested ran flawlessly! Remington Thunderbolt, Aguila Supermaximum Hyper Velocity, Winchester Wildcat, CCI Stinger, American Eagle 38 grain. I realize these are some hot loads, they were what I had around the house. I have more more brands to try at my next range session, a little less hot. The front sight came loose near the end, and I did not have a proper wrench with me so I ended the session. This seems to be common with these particular front sights on the new guns from the factory. They need to be checked and tightened. I am not sure about the V rear sight. I need more range time with it. I felt like I was shooting better with my Target square rear sight, so I might have to switch them if I don't start taking to the V sight soon. Have been at Taurus G2C for my wife’s EDC anybody have any experience with these good or bad? She finally agreed to start carrying so doing a little research on this gun. I like the 12 rounds capacity just just not sure about the Taurus brand. We are going today to let her put her hand on a few different ones like the shield and maybe a G26 or a Sig. I really like the price of the Taurus but if it won’t work when needed it not a deal.

Does anyone here have a 3" GP100? I was curious if they shoot dead on with 38's , I have one with the 4" and adjustable sights and it shoots really good.I didn't know how much difference there would be with one with fixed sights.I saw one I was thinking about getting.

I am a primarily a shotgun/revolver shooter. I would like any information and suggestions on buying a 1911 style pistol. I haven't decided on a 9mm or a .45 auto. I know many hate TAURUS. I know many (or some) like Taurus. And, some don't know what to think. I don't know what to think, am not sure myself. My Spectrum 380 bought in Dec 2018 experience is bad (gun sent in for fail to fire from the first 50 rounds or so I shot thru it - many fail to fire on first trigger pull), then my Millennium G2 9MM experience bought in 2016 is good (maybe near 1000 rounds thru it been very reliable -- trigger is not the best, but get use to it). This TX22 (I think new for them, it's news to me) sure sounds good. Be nice if it works and is priced (low) as their other guns are. https://taurustx22.com/

For all who might be interested, note that Range USA indoor shooting range, closed its doors yesterday for good. Long time shooting range and training center, the closing caught many by surprise and injected a sad note among shooters. Not only was it a good place to shoot, but there developed a camaraderie among customers and staff there to sort of a brotherhood. Range USA will be sadly missed. Loss of an old friend. No reason given for its closing. The range in Jackson Tennessee is closed also.

FN America has announced that the 509 family has expanded to include the new 15-round FN 509 Midsize as well as a black 509 Tactical. The Midsize is dimensionally similar to the Glock 19. FN 509 Midsize Specs: Check back with me sometime next week. I'll be able to offer some first-hand thoughts on it, as I have one on the way.

Some of you may remember THIS THREAD from last fall. It was asked who would be the TGO test subject and buy one. Well i'm your sucker volunteer. So now I'm gonna tell you all about it. Here's a link to the manufactures web page with all the details. Extar EP9 Also note that the price is $419. That's pretty cheap for a gun like this. That's also why they're so popular. First off, the thing is kind of hard to get a hold of. They restock on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5:00pm Mountain Time. And you better be there then because these sell out real quick! I talking the whole inventory is gone in less than an hour. It took six months, but I finally happened to catch it at the right time and ordered one. The website also mentions that it takes 1 to 2 weeks for shipment. Believe it! It was two weeks exactly from the time I ordered until I had it in my hands. I have no idea why it takes so long, but it does. Here's how it comes in the box. You might note that the brace was already on it when it arrived. All the info says it comes separate and the web site even includes instructions for putting it on. Oh well, I ain't gonna argue about it. Here it is after I added a few things: First impressions: Its a neat little pistol. Compact, light weight and it even looks kinda cool. It handles very well. The trigger is a bit heavy at just over 7 pounds. However, it breaks very clean and crisp. Once I got used to it, I could handle it quite well. Of course that's easy enough to fix. But I think I'm gonna leave it as it is. Magazine issues: The gun comes with one Magpul 17 round Glock magazine. It works perfectly, no problems there at all. However I also ordered 4 Glock factory extended magazines for it. two 24 round and two 32 round. They had issues. all the mags fit ok, but none of them wound drop free when released. They were just a little too tight. I ended up having to sand the sides down a bit in order to get them to drop free. I remember in one of the You-tube reviews I saw that that guy mentioned that he had to do that too. Not really a big deal, but it was irritating to have to do it. Since I don't own any Glock pistols to try, I can't say if the regular pistol mags work or not. It may just be an issue with the extended versions. When shooting the gun I also discovered that it is entirely possible to shove the mag in too far when inserting the mag on an open bolt. When this happens, the bolt hangs up on the back of the mag when trying to close. This only happens if you shove the mag in very hard. Plastic on plastic I guess? Anyway, I learned to insert the mag and then give it a slight downward pull as as it seated. Again, not a big deal but irritating until you get the hang of it. maybe the gun just needs a little break in time? IDK? Range Report: Ok. so I took it out today and shot it. I started shooting off the bench at the 25/50 yard range. I needed to sight it in and I wanted to shoot some groups. Overall performance was good. Here's a few targets. Bear in mind that I'm a shaky, half blind old man. A younger shooter and a better trigger would probably get better groups. MALFUNCTION!: It seems that one of my reloads was out of specs. It wouldn't go all the way into the chamber. When that big, heavy bolt rammed into it, the cartridge got stuck big time! It wouldn't fire because the bolt was slightly out of battery. OTOH, the extractor had a death grip on the cartridge and I couldn't get the bolt open to clear it. I ended up having to separate the upper and lower receivers and putting a wooden dowel down the barrel and hammering the stuck cartridge loose. But this was the fault of a bad round, not the gun. After getting it sighted in and shooting groups, I then moved over to the Action Shooting range. I had a bay set up with 7 steel round plates, 1 popper and I added three IDPA cardboard targets. From there it was all run and gun! I'd put in a magazine and start banging steel as fast as I could go. I got good hits every single time and was able to stay in the A zone on the cardboard consistently. The little gun performed like a champ! All in all, I put 500 rounds through this thing today. Except for the malfunction already mentioned, it fed and fired everything I put in it. Factory ammo, my reloads, FMJs, HPs and LRN. But be warned, this little sucker will burn through a whole lot of ammo real quick! One more little item to mention. When you start dumping 32 round magazines through this thing, the handguard tends to get hot! And that little quarter inch exposed section of the barrel nut behind the handguard gets real hot! I'm thinking it will be a good idea to add some sort of forward grip to this thing. Not sure if I want to go straight or angled? Opinions here would be welcome. Final thoughts: Ok, so I got one. Now what? Honestly, I don't know why I bought it? Looks cool and sorta appeals to the inner operator in all of us. But does it really serve any real purpose that my current handguns and rifles don't already fill? I just don't know. If the S should ever HTF. I know what I'll be grabbing and this ain't it. Granted, for what it is and at its price, its a darn good little gun. Yeah, it has a couple of little quirks, but nothing bad enough to say don't buy. I enjoyed shooting it as it is a lot of fun. But somehow I get the feeling that I'm just gonna play with it for a while and eventually send it on down the road. I'm gettin' a little bit too old to be playing at being an operator.
