  1. I will say that the trigger on my full size M&P M2.0 9mm is just fine and the one on my M2.0 Compact is even better. I am thinking about the Apex forward set sear (FSS) and trigger kit for the full-size, though, as it is more of a "range gun" than a carry gun for me. Are any of you using it on the M2.0 specifically? Is it worth the money and effort? I have used it on the M&P Gen1 in the past and wasn't blown away with it, really. Looking for real world feedback from those who have it on the M2.0 though.
  2. Those that have been here a while will recall my penchant for the archaic; Lemon Squeezers, I-frames and Police Positives. Seemed like a thing to do to have a 32-20 Thread, as my "EDC" is a 1920s vintage Smith and Wesson Military and Police. Mine seems to like heavier bullets better; if I do my part she's developing a very satisfying habit of putting multiple bullets in one hole. The HSM 32-20 is loaded more warmly than Remchester, and has a large, flat bullnose profile.
  3. Hard to beat some of todays sales. Brownells had Shields for 294.00 shipped and S&W is offering 75 dollar rebates Thats a final cost of 219.00 ...I Had to get one and so did two of my friends .. THEN trijicon big dot night XS sights were on Amazon for 59 bucks Christmas in Summertime !
  4. Anyone with any experience with this pistol? Looking at a trade for a lightly used Beretta (not Stoeger) version . My research indicates it was a pretty reliable pistol. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

  6. Going to pick up my new Ruger single seven from my transfer guy today, chambered in .327 Fed mag. My new varmint gun. Waiting on brass to come in so can make some test rounds, have a mold on the way also. Am going to shoot mostly cast boolits in it. Any one with experience with one of these?
  7. Seems from what is said that Beretta Italy wont allow to have their "Flagship Pistol" the M9A3 to be made in Tn. due to these "Hillbillies" cant make a Quality pistol! Seems the Gallatin Quality Control does not know the meaning of "Quality" and Beretta has to repair/refinish too many M9A3's! https://www.ar15.com/forums/Handguns/New-Beretta-M9A3-s-being-made-in-Italy-and-not-America-as-in-past-Pictures-/15-179859/?page=1&anc=bottom#bottom
  8. Need some help with holster selections. I'm wanting to buy my boys a couple of holsters for Christmas. I need to find a light bearing holster for my son's Springfield XDM 4.5, and this one is proving to be the most difficult. He wants somewhat of a mid-ride type holster, but I'm having a whale of a time finding anything, especially from Bladetech. The only way I've found anything from them is to go on their site and overpay. The other will be for my other son's Glock 19 with a Streamlight TLR4. That one probably won't be so difficult. Any advice would be much appreciated.
  9. This is interesting, especially since the Army has just chosen the P320 as their new sidearm.
  10. I stopped by my gunsmith's shop today to visit my Colt when I saw a goodly array of handguns. None for my taste, but did see a pristine Colt Officers Model Match .38 with a beautiful (not Colt) walnut case. Also a fine looking (didn't examine) Colt .38 Detective Special nickeled. In the back room was a table full ow Walthers, PPK, PPK/S, P-1 and what not. This Keith Warner Gunsmiths on Kirby Parkway in the Fare Four Center, Germantown. Just thought someone might be interested. Bob Wright
  11. Today being Pearl Harbor Day, there have been some WW II stories. Here's one of mine: There was a War Bond Drive going on in Memphis, this around 1942 or so. Set up in Court Square Park in Memphis, were displays, including a German ME-109 and a Japanese Zero fighter. Along the sidewalk on Main Street was a long olive drab tent, with exhibits inside showing items and the number of $25 bonds it took to purchase them. Distinctly remember an M-1911A1 pistol (Army pistol, to me then.) and its price was three $25.00 bonds. Hot dog! I thought, I had four twenty-five dollar bonds! More than enough to buy me a .45! When the soldier told me it was not for sale, I cried. But not to where he could see me. (I was only about four or five at the time.) Bob Wright

  13. The local US Money Pawn has a brand new XD .45ACP bi-tone service model (3 dot sights) for $399, MSRP is almost $600 is this a good deal?
  14. Just saw that the Beretta APX now has a no finger grove option in their different colored frames. $50 just like the regular colored frames with the finger groves. I have the gray frame with the finger groves but it's nice to know that Beretta is offering this. I'll try to post a link. http://www.berettausa.com/en-us/beretta-grip-no-fingers-with-3-backstraps-for-apx/e02048/
  15. This is a Colt New Frontier, in .45 Colt: It, to me, is the ultimate Colt Single Action. Medium frame, good adjustable sights, and 7 1/2" barrel. I've seen them in .357 Magnum, but they are rare. And here is a Ruger Three Screw Blackhawk in .357 Magnum: Actually I like Ruger's XR-3RED grip frame better (bite my tongue!) than the Colt grip. This gun is made on the medium frame and is about the same size as the Colt. This is a fine gun but there are still "wants" in my craw. I've long envisioned a 7 1/2" barreled, adjustable sighted .32-20 Single Action revolver, either one of these would do. But for, say groundhogs out to maybe 100 yards or so, wouldn't something like this be dandy? Maybe even coyotes? Bob Wright
  16. I went to the range yesterday morning for the first time since my surgery. It has been over seven weeks since I fired a shot. I took this old Super Blackhawk: I've been shooting close up, duelist style; that is standing, one handed, as ranges not over ten yards, and using a six inch stick-on Shoot -N-See target. I had figured a pretty bad outing, for lack of practice for so long. Much to my surprise, I didn't do too badly. Shooting at eight yards, twenty-five rounds went through the black, and left a large jagged hole. Why did I do so well? Well, I did spend considerable time dry firing. This helped keep my muscle tone and my concentration up to par, and I'm sure that dry firing practice did keep me in shape. Bob Wright
  17. I've got the new pistol bug... Has anyone here handled or better yet shot both the S&W M&P 9C 2.0 and tge CZ P-10C? I haven't laid hands on the CZ yet, but the M&P 2.0 seems to be a significant improvement Thanks for your help.

    1911

I have been reading that Remington has issued a double stack 1911. Even has it on their web site. All I can find out it's coming to a dealer near you. What are your thoughts on it? Not so much a carry piece but home defense or range gun. I think I may have to pull the trigger. Hehe
  19. Visited an old Army buddy last week and ended up with this, a 11.4oz S&W 340pd. I have some Buffalo Bore and Speer ammo on order that should allow me to shoot this without breaking my hand, as well as prevent flame cutting or cylinder face erosion.
  20. I know these are popular pistols. Not sure how long this runs. http://palmettostatearmory.com/browning-buck-mark-camper-ufx-22lr.html?trk_msg=AEJ7A25AA3N41F6A3KKQGJ9H04&trk_contact=73R1G4P74SA6SKFHB3SG00NTE8&trk_sid=MKFKAL6OAR9J84SUKLCE5E3EJK&utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=email&utm_term=http%3a%2f%2fpalmettostatearmory.com%2fbrowning-buck-mark-camper-ufx-22lr.html&utm_campaign=Daily+Deal+Email&utm_content=5%3a00+Email
  21. Many years ago I spent many Saturday morning at the old Shelby County Rifle and Pistol range near Memphis. One of the regulars was an older gentleman who came out pretty regularly. He was straight and lean, but walked sort of halt. He always wore khakis, shirt and pants, and wore a cap that bore some kind of Navy emblem. He shot an older Colt M1911, which he told me his father had carried in World War I and he had carried in World War II. He also had a similar vintage S&W Combat Masterpiece. He drove a fairly new Ford pick-up truck, plain Jane otherwise. Now the range was closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and one day he asked the range officer, Mr. Bobby Keen, if he and his wife would drive him up to Hohenwald, Tennessee so he could do some banking business, as he had gotten to the age he no longer felt safe driving on the highway. He would furnish them lunch. They agreed, and on the morning appointed, he picked them up and Bobby got behind the wheel. After having driven a while, he pointed out a roadside park, and they pulled over. This gent pulled out three brown bags, each with two cheese and baloney sandwiches, a piece of fruit, some chips and napkins. Also there was a jug of sweet iced tea. Well they all ate their lunch and drove on into town. Bobby and his wife waited while he conducted his business and then he returned ready to drive back to Memphis. Out of curiosity, pone of them asked why he did business with a bank so far from Memphis. "Why," he replied, "this is the bank I own." At his death the obituary noted he was a chief financial officer of Union Planters Bank of Memphis. Bob Wright
  22. What do you think is the best full size and compact 9mm pistols? Why?
  23. I bought a SIG P238 not long after they were first introduced and fell in love with it. Once I got into the 600-800 area of rounds fired, I began to experience the failure to feed issues. It got to where I was experiencing 2-3 FTF per clip. I tried different types of ammo, but that did not correct the problem. I got frustrated with it, no longer trusted it as a carry gun and stuck it in the safe. Due to work and family stuff at the time, I did not want to deal with it. I recently got it back out, tried different ammo again and a new magazine; but still experienced 2-3 FTF per magazine. I read this appeared to be a common problem with many of the P238's, so I called SIG to see what they would do about it. There was no acknowledgment of my issue being a common issue, and he suggested that since my gun was 7 years old I should get the full service package - so I would have a dependable carry gun. (Oh, I thought I bought a dependable carry gun.) I acknowledge the gun was 7 years old, but had no more than 1000 rounds through it and sat in my safe for most of it's life. Anyway, I sent it in for the Full Service Package, got it back in about two weeks, and it shoots great. I realize I should have called SIG when it was new. However, if my issue was a common one, I don't think I should have had to pay for the full service. It appears from some of your posts on this site that you sent your guns in, had them repaired, and at no cost to you? I would be interested to know what was repaired and/or replaced and what you were charged if anything. Thanks.
  24. If you had to pick between a Glock 19 and Glock 43 for your first Glock, which would you choose and why?
  25. I just came back from the 4 day defensive handgun class at Front Sight. Pretty intense class. I pulled my firearm so many times my side had bruises. Has anyone else been out there out there for training? Anyone interested in my experience?
