  1. Per request...here is my 458 Socom - its a double stamp (NFA) 10.5" with a Bowers Versa50 Suppressor. Vortex Viper PST 1-4 x 24 scope. It literally brings home the bacon...and a ton more pork too :-). I have a 16" RR upper too but suppressed it is just too long for fast moving pigs (and any other things needing blown up...lol)
  2. 5/15 to 7/30 MODEL 700 TACTICAL RIFLE - EXCLUDES SPS $150 CASH BACK BY MAIL (Limit 5) MODEL 870 TACTICAL SHOTGUN $60 CASH BACK BY MAIL (Limit 5) Main Page: https://www.remington.com/rebates-promotions Long Gun Form: https://www.remington.com/sites/default/files/rebate/file/Live Ready_Long guns_Rebate.pdf
  3. www.sturmgewehr.com/dalbert/MGBoards/BM59/BM59_SantaFe_Flyer.pdf At an estate auction, on a whim, I bought an M59 Santa Fe. TO my eye, it looked all the world like an M14, and I've never seen one sell for $200 before. Also, I have a stash of 308 ammo and reloading paraphernalia, and no 308. I guess it's made up from parts like a rewelded Garand frame and such. I'll pick it up Monday evening, and can tell more about it then. Looking at the few priced on the internet, I didn't do too bad. Anybody know anything about these?

    AK Shotguns

Yep...I'm one of 'those people'. I started with a Saiga-12 back when they first arrived. Awesome shotgun. I've got a Russian folding stock on it and tri-rail fore end. With a 20rd drum it's absolutely fun to shoot. I ran across a few Catamount Furys last year. What I liked the most was the price - 449 NIB with 5 mags. I read up on them and bought one (Fury 1) from a shop in Paris. The Catamount is Century arms version of the Saiga-12. It's Chinese. The finish was not anywhere near as good as the Saiga. I had to slick up the action a bit to get it to run smooth. Now she runs like a scalded dog with most ammo. I recently purchased a Kick-Lite stock for it and it works well. Looks good too. I would love to have a VEPR-12 but the $850+up price tag keeps me grounded.
  5. Grabagun sent an email with a couple ARs at $399 today. http://view.email.grabagun.com/?qs=2d4ac77b5362a17d86afd533dd44d99f34a700d27ae2a18d50f7c6e38142b02905fe02494656eca83a6cd348e81d0ab0820d6cfeb8c2cf8bfd616bce77707130 Just in case anyone missed it.
  6. I know there are a bunch of AR guys here, so help me out if you can. I've got these two AR-15s in my friends collection that I'm having trouble getting reliable pricing information on. Both are older guns. Sorry, no pics as I don't have the guns here. I'll try to describe them as best I can. DPMS AR-15, pre-ban, .223/5.56, 16" barrel, old style fixed carry handle & tall front sight, adjustable butt stock, round hand guard. I called DPMS and all they can tell me is it was made somewhere in the early 90s. Colt AR-15, Match Target, Light Weight, 7.62x39, made 1995, 16" barrel, fixed carry handle & tall front sight, solid A1 type butt stock, round hand guard. I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.
  7. For some reason I have a hankering for an AR10 of some flavor. I'd appreciate input on the PSA version.

    F1 DuraBolt

Picked up a F1 Firearms Durabolt on sale a while back. Even on sale it was expensive for a BCG but it was shiny so I bought it. Fast forward to last week where I went to a shooting school and I put 4000-5000 rounds through it. Early in the week I wiped it off once with a rag and besides applying CLP that's all the maintenance I did with the gun. The gun ran flawlessly the whole week running green tip. Took some before and after pictures when I cleaned it. I only used a rag for the entire BCG except for the neck of the bolt which required the use of a nylon brush to get all the carbon off. Is it worth $300?....that's up to you to decide. I like it, it ran great for me, and clean up was a breeze. But I probably wont pick one up again unless I find one in the $200 range.
  9. How long has it been since we saw these kind of prices? $475 http://grabagun.com/ruger-ar-556-black-ar-15-223-5-56mm-16-1-inch-30rd.html
  10. I've always been enamored of single shot guns. Just something about their simplicity catches my attention and I enjoy taking my time in the shooting of them. It's very hard to "spray and pray" with a single shot. With the conclusion of H&R, I've been watching CVA on Bud's closely for a 44 magnum rifle. I really like that stainless and camoed stock 44 they are carrying. Now, within the last couple of days there arises a newcomer! https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/single-shot-rifle/ Hhmmmmm!
  11. Guys I'm hoping to get some help with a setup I've got. I recently got my Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 mounted on my rifle which has a 20 MOA base. My understanding is the optic has 60 MOA of total Elevation. (This is about where my knowledge stops - and learning begins). I zeroed the rifle at 100 yards. I added the zero stop shims as directed. Now what I see is from zero, I have just over 3 revolutions (12 moa per), roughly 38 MOA of elevation left. I've read that to shoot out this far I need 55 MOA, but I'm thinking that's not absolute as I see others going that far w/ less MOA on 6.5. Any comments here? Also, I' thought about zeroing the rifle at 200, to get more MOA up, but this doesn't really add up for me - and seems to be against the norm. Here's a summarized statement I found on 200 zeros at the end of my post. So am I on the right track overall here? And What are the turret markings in elevation for if my zeroed elevation shows over 200 on the turret indicator? I'd love to catch with some local guys (Memphis) and get a download on all this. Youtube and the internet aren't quiet gluing it together for me just yet. Bryan Litz of Applied Ballistics recommends a 100yd zero because at that range environmental differences are moot. Where zeroing a few hundred yards further can be fine where you live, but travel to another location and density altitude and the longer zero can be way off. A 100yd zero is common practice for a reason!"
  12. Guys I've got a few new guns to learn about, left to me by my Granddad. Any comments on what I've got here appreciated. Don't know much about them and have no idea how old or valuable they are. I do know that someone has been in the trigger on Winchester, because that trigger is scary sensitive! One is missing a front bead, I'll need to replace that. The winchester has a few rust spots. And it looks like he intended to refinish / re-blue the barrel as it's been rubbed with steel wool or something. Need to look at how to best handle that. Winchester Model 97, Mossburg 500C and a Marlin JM Stamped Glenfield. Appreciate any comments.
  13. Friend of mine linked me this from Reddit earlier today. Terrifying http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=1311756 https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=-KJq23shaTc&app=desktop
  14. Just finished my order for my AR upgrade project. Here is what I purchased Surefire M600 (I decided to go with this because it is simpler electronically than the Intellibeam version, brightness vs length over the M300 seemed worth it) MagPul M3 PMAG 10-Round (No, I haven't gone hippie on you all, I wanted something flush for use at the range) MagPul M3 PMAG 40-Round (Proof I haven't gone hippie, it's for staying in the rifle for home defense use) MagPul M-LOK Hand Stop Kit (Wanted to start here in the world of VFGs. If I like the handling of this piece, I think I'll love it) MagPul M-LOK Rail Cover Type 2 Qty:2 (Extra grip, performs as heat shield, protects expensive M-LOK forend, directly matches Hand Stop Kit) MagPul M-LOK Polymer Offset Light Mount (Chose polymer because if anything, I'd rather polymer flex a bit rather than handguard/light damage) MagPul XTM Enhanced Rail Panels Qty:2 (These were cheap, mainly for protecting the top picatinny rail and for possible cable routing in future) MagPul SL-S Carbine Stock (Holds 4 CR123 batteries, compact, supposedly great lock-up) MagPul MS4 Gen 2 Sling (Adaptable between single and double point sling, takes advantage of various QD points on rifle/stock) Basically, was able to snag all this stuff for $403.86 by really taking my time to find the best deals. I'm going to give running a weapon light a try without a tapeswitch. I probably saved at least $50 but probably actually closer to $150 by foregoing the tapeswitch setup as of now. I am able to effectively use the Surefire X300-U on my Glock 19 with my thumb, therefore with optimal placement I should be able to do the same with the M600. It should be quite a bit more rugged eliminating the cable and tapeswitch. I'm worried that the offset mount may place the light in the wrong placement. If it turns out that the offset mount I purchased makes the light awkward to activate, I may have to purchase their M-LOK Cantilever Light Mount. That may place the light too far forward though. I'm looking forward for this stuff coming in over the next few days. I'll try to post up pictures as well as a review of the setup. EDIT: Pictures!
  15. Checking to see if we have any avid air rifle hunters on this forum? I own two FX rifles, 25 cal Impact, 25 cal wildcat and a 22 cal Benjamin Marauder.
  16. I know Barrett and the other manufacturers have prices that are all orange juice to vodka. Who sells a dead on barrel that hits the spot with no BS. Just want a simple HEAVY barrel bolt action .50 tack driver.
  17. I'm not much of a handgun or shotgun guy, or even civilian rifle person. Nope. It's milsurps that float my boat, and for the modern stuff that doesn't ever get to the civilian market 'cause it's TOOOOO SCARRREEEEEYYYYY... Well, AR's to take the place of M-16's, and Polytech M-14S to take the place of the real thang. And so on.

Nevermind, I'm not as patient as you people are slow
  19. Would you trade a hipoint 9mm carbine with laser and foregrip for a 1950's model savage 110 bolt action 30-06? It has a scope and open sights. I know nothing about the savage rifles of that era.
  20. All you world travelers, help me ID any of these weapons from somewhere in Africa. Interesting lot of toys my friend is playing with.
  21. A friend has a Savage 110 /FP bull barrel rifle that doesn't have iron sights. On the barrel it says 223 Remington . Being it's a bolt action rifle , what will shooting 5.56 mm military ammo do to it ? Any harm come from it ? Have heard that mil spec ammo is too stressful for a bolt action receiver/barrel combination. Also , found some foreign made (Russian) ammo that says it is 223 Remington with a bi-metal bullet .The cartridge case is zinc plated . Would it be safe to use in the rifle or not ? Maybe it would best to use US made 223 R ammo. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
  22.
