Hey I am 20 yrs old just got my first handgun (P95). I am going through the ammunition faster than walmart can get it in. Got a few questions (have done a few quick forum searches.)

1. Does Tennessee gun owners support Students for concealed carry/be willing to help with an event put on by this organization?

2. Is there a list of places that allow concealed carry? I have been reading on here and notice more and more places even some gun stores, don't allow handgun carry.

Thanks for all the great info so far.

Welcome. Perhaps send a private message to the administrator (Tungsten) for your first question. For the second, you might want to start familiarizing yourself with Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13 of the Tennessee Code Annotated. Now, they cover where you cannot legally carry in the carry permit class, which it sounds like you might be taking soon, but it's always a good idea to do some homework on your own. Also, our very own Fallguy made up a great reference source for Tennessee carry locations: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13408

Of course, even if the place isn't off limits for carry by law they can still post a sign saying no carry (which has to conform to certain legal requirements). And yes, even some gun shops do this.

Hope this helps.

with areas such as wma property ex: royal blue, does this fall under the 39-17-1311 lawhttp://www.michie.com/tennessee/lpext.dll/tncode/11662/12084/123d6/1242f?fn=document-frame.htm&f=templates&2.0#

I am trying to get a handle for this stuff before I am even eligible for carry.

Welcome

I do not think WMAs are covered as part of 39-17-1311, but they are addressed in 70-4-117

Welcome from OR/Knox

A list of specific places you're allowed to carry wouldn't be practical to maintain. Just think how many McDonald's restaurants there are to gauge how big the list would be and how it might be constantly changing. Even a list of places in TN that don't allow carry would be difficult to keep up with.
