Lost a great friend today

Had to say goodbye to a great friend this afternoon after almost 14 years. Daisy was the most loyal dog I've ever known.  My wife and I got her a week after we got married, and she's been everywhere and through everything with us since.

She really should have been a working dog. She took absolute joy in performing the jobs you gave her. She would retrieve until you were the one who was worn out.

The second picture below on the paddle board was the only way she'd let my kids swim in the lake   If she wasn't out on the board right beside them, she'd jump in, grab the strap on the back of their life jackets and tow them back to shore.

Man, we're going to miss this dog.

She was such a loyal dog.  I'm pretty sure she could have been gravely injured and she'd still be checking on you to make sure you were okay.

Unlike a lot of labs, she was able to be really active her whole life up until about Thanksgiving.

I know that we made the right choice today as she basically went as soon as she got the sedative shot.  Her body relaxed and she was gone.

Hey, - so sorry.  Those pictures feel like great memories to me, and I wasn't even there.

She was a dog whose story was bigger than her life.

She loved that paddleboard. Primarily I think it was because she could stand in the end of it and I could paddle silently up into a bunch of ducks where she could jump into the middle of them.  If I left in the board without her, she would swim after me until I turned around.  Ocean, lake, creek, river or farm pond - she didn't care - she would go.

And, Lord help you if you were standing on the edge of a dock and someone threw a decoy or a tennis ball past you :)
