Sharpening Services Update

Recommended Posts

Within the next 6 Weeks, I will be purchasing the best water cooled sharpening system on the market, a Tormek T8

What this means for you the customer, is that as well as sharpening on my Wicked Edge system I will be offering any size fixed blade knives, sizzors and eventually wood carving tool sharpening  the Tormek system uses water to cool the steel and in no way can hurt the temper of any steel,

also since the Goodmans Gun and knife show has moved to Lebanon, I will be getting a booth at every show that goes on when I am home, my prices on sharpening with my Tormek will be maybe $2.00 more that the guys with the grinding wheels that can damage the tempered steel while sharpening, and with that extra $2.00 a mirror polished Finish will be added

As usual my Wicked Edge prices will be the same as they are as it is justified by the wear and tear on my system as well as the time it takes me to sharpen

look for the Badass Blades Logo on a banner at future shows, come and meet me and get your knifes sharpened

WOW! What a cool setup!!

Yes it is, I got the Chefs bundle to do all knives and sizzors, between that and my Wicked Edge setup, I should be able to do nearly any kind of sharpening I have been wanting one of these every since I saw videos of the T7, this is truly a brilliant system

I couldn't wait, I just ordered it

I have the T-7 and just do personal blades and those of close friends, but I absolutely love it. I'm usually too lazy to set up jigs and just free-hand lower valued blades that only need to have a good edge and get great results. After some practice, that is. Good luck with your new system, I thought the T-7's user manual was amazingly useful along with youtube videos and basic trial and error. My biggest mistake was trying to true up the stone too much and too often, ending up shortening the life of my stone. Otherwise it's almost idiot proof, in my (admittedly) limited experience. Hope you enjoy it and are able to get your money's worth, because that was the worst part for me.

What about serrated blades? Is there an easy way to sharpen or regrind these?

That type blade serves me well but I've worn out a few and had a couple replaced for a $ with Spyderco. Any suggestions?

I do those with files, there are several available online it is simple to do yourself

Eventually Wicked Edge promises to come up with something for serrated edges, rest assured as soon as they do I will have that setup as well

Look up Lansky sharpening kits. The triangle shaped stone will sharpen serrated blades. I got one and it works good.

I thought I'd give this thread a bump because I just had Steve sharpen my Protech. He put an edge on it that is better than it came from the factory. Turnaround time was as fast as one could possibly expect. It was in the mail longer than Steve had it. I was amazed at how quickly it came back.

If anyone has a blade in need of some TLC then @willis68 is your guy.
