Saw this in a Facebook group and thought it was funny enough to share here.  Basically the folks at Texas Machine Gun & Ordinance (TXMGO) had a fund raiser and raffled off a bottle of Garrison Brothers Texas whiskey which had been serialized, engraved and registered with the BATFE as a Molotov Cocktail which, by law, is a Class III destructive device and can only be produced by a manufacturer under an FFL Type 10 / SOT 2, produced by an individual under a Form 1, transferred to an individual under a Form 4.

So for an individual to obtain this someone had to pay the $200 for a tax stamp and do the BATFE wait.  I guess it's what you do when you have money to burn.  No pun intended. :)

He sells pipe bombs and suicide vests as well. Definitely pushing the envelope.

Completely legally albeit pushing the boundary of good taste on the suicide vests.  I honestly have to take a very Libertarian view of this, which required a step back and a deep breath, and say that if it's legal and it feels a bit like a middle finger at the government, carry on.  I seriously doubt anyone is going to Form 4 a suicide vest to use it, let alone to use it for criminal purposes, any more than they are going to Form 4 an SBR for criminal purposes when they can be just as criminal building them without the necessary paperwork.

So if a Molotov Cocktail is a destructive device, then I could be arrested for carrying around a oil soaked rag and a bottle of whiskey in the same vehicle or on my person.....

If you are carrying your oil soaked rag as a wick in your bottle of whiskey…yes.  biggrin.gif

This is just dumb as hell.  "Sticking it to the man" is great fun and all but how much time did the ATF have to spend on such frivolity when they could have been processing worthy applications?

Very little.  It certainly hasn't slowed down wait times any more than the rush of forms did.

Sean has been doing some funny and cool stuff.  He is also working on some rockets and getting FAA approval to drop bombs from an aircraft.
