When did you get out and shoot last?

Recommended Posts

Last Monday. My GFs 40ish niece and her 19 yo son are visiting from upstate New York. The niece hunts with a .243, but neither had ever fired a handgun. So I loaded up a bunch of guns and ammo and off to the range we went. :D

We shot .22s, .38s, .357s, 9mm and .a .45 1911. Both did surprisingly well for their first time. The niece is a bit of a Tom Boy and fell in love with my 4" S&W Model 19 firing full house 158 JHP Magnums. The son took a real shine to my old S&W Model 39-2  9mm. My GF got in some trigger time on her two .38s. and put a little over 100 rounds down range.

As for me, well I spent most of my time teaching and supervising the noobies. But I enjoyed it just as much as they did.

OK I liked this but only for the range!!!  Not your old ass. I suddenly realized I should make that clear. All kidding aside, nice set up.

Last weekend at Bud's or weather permitting, in the valley (aka the in-laws)

Every other week when I can swing it.

As far as operating in the rain, I will admit to zero experience, shooting in the rain, some.

My "extra" focus is drawing / holstering with foul weather gear. With lots of extra straps, clips, frogs, drawstrings for snagging, it's slower and smoother for me than usual.

It's been awhile since I have done any shooting. I'm a member of The Gallatin Gun Club. Now that it's closed, I have no where to shoot long range rifle at all. The club hasn't bought any land yet for a new range. If the Gallatin Gun Club hasn't got a new range by next year. I won't be joining back up. Not going to pay $200.00 dues with no where to shoot. I guess I'll have to go over to the TWRA range Long Hunter on Fridays. gearyr

In the past month, I have shot at Strategic Edge twice. I waited 6 months for my application to be approved and it was well worth the wait. The facility is first class, Tony is a stand up guy, and the members are fantastic. There is nothing better than hearing the sweet sound of steel! I recently purchased a Knight's Armament SR-25 EMC and I am happy that I now have a range where I can stretch her legs.

Your AK's are going to mutiny if you're not careful.

the one range that is close to me gets way to busy to be enjoyable imo

If you mean the 'N',.......I was so looking forward to it's opening, which took forever. When it did, I was highly disappointed.

Poor lighting, very primitive, no safety between the lanes, and gawd-awful echo. Pretty small too, but convenient for us, close to home.

We shoot there about once a week or two.

Used to shoot 2-3 times a week at The Gun Room. Eighteen miles each way. Really nice. Been friends with Stan and his parents for years.

Probably start shooting at The Gun Room more. Seems like every time we leave the 'N' now.....I tell the wife we need to......since our ears are ringing from the echo.

I went to an indoor range a few weeks ago but haven't got to shoot outdoors in quite awhile.  The weather should be getting better now and my work schedule hopefully freeing up some time.
