Do I really want a Red Dot Sight RDS for carry?

So, I dipped my toes into the "pistol with a red dot sight" waters with the Ruger Mark IV and Vortex Venom RDS.  It is about as weird and foreign to me as I expected it to be based on limited use with other people's pistols with RDS.  It's fun, but I am undoubtedly faster without the RDS for now.

One thing it does very well is to provide immediate feedback when you pull a shot.  I called a few flyers today purely based on what I saw in the reticle of that thing, before even looking at the target.  It's going to be a good training tool to polish the rough edges on my trigger manipulation.  And, frankly, I wouldn't have thought I had many rough edges some 30 years into shooting, 20 of them seriously.  They say that adversity introduces a man to himself, and I would add that so does using an RDS on a pistol. :)
