No problem.  I don't care much for strawberry so I can save all of that for bartering.  I may try to score some apple butter, grape jelly and blackberry jam for myself.

I will trade you for the Apple Butter. Need a good washboard?

The apple butter will be part of my personal stash.  You would probably have to throw in the small cider press and a couple of those triangle peg games to get me to part with any of it.

No. You can't make hooch with a peeler.

JAB, don't hold it against him. That kind of thinking is to be expected from someone who doesn't appreciate a nice tweed hunting jacket to keep him warm AND stylish when zombies are afoot.

I only like tweed when it is on guitar amps.

You don't need as cider press to make hooch. Though you could. I would just stop by the local plumbing supply for 2 water tanks, copper pipe, and fittings after my Cracker Barrel stop.

Not caring for strawberry is downright un-american, and shows a lack of appreciation for the finer things in life ...

and Cracker Barrel is my all-time favorite restaurant while traveling ...

When I traveled, I always stopped and got an Uncle Here's favorite. Great for dinner and I took enough biscuits for breakfast. Little things you find when you get a per diem. I brought home lots of extra cash that way.

Hey!  I still like apple pie, love barbecue and good chili (just about any variant) so I'm not completely un-American.  I just don't care for strawberry.  To be truthful, I even like fresh strawberries from time to time like in a good strawberry shortcake, a no-bake strawberry pie or a British style strawberry trifle.  I just don't like strawberry jelly/jam much and really don't like strawberry 'flavored' stuff.

Besides, it is kind of odd to say, "...finer things..." and "...Cracker Barrel..." in the same breath.  :hyper:

One of my fellows out here has two rolls of silver dimes expressly for soldering together a still, as he doesn't trust lead solder as far as he can throw it. For me, I'd have four, just in case.

A post shtf run of calvados? Sounds interesting. I'm trying to remember where to get brewer's yeast... Getting Fleischman's baker's yeast in them little red foil packs is easy-peasy, to be sure, but I can NOT, for the life of me, remember the brewer's yeast.

Booze would make a great trade item, to be sure... and higher alcohol content would make an excellent disinfectant for wounds, among other uses.

Shhhheeeeeet.  Y'all obsessing over the Crapper Barrel....  Me, I'm heading straight to Red Lobster for the fire-wood, rope, pulleys, buckets, crates, slat-traps, lanterns, boats & obviously.... the liquor cabinet.  Next stop will be Long John Silvers for the imperishables in the warming trays.
