Seen this can the nraila site a bit ago.  In short robbers broke into a home, resident wrestled a gun away from robbers, shot at robbers, then the resident was charged with all of these crimes :

Munroe faces charges of attempted murder, intent to discharge a firearm, intent to discharge a firearm when being reckless, careless use of a firearm, improper storage of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing that possession is unauthorized, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Good freaking grief!!!

Holy moly.  The story seems to hint at the possibility of some history between Munroe and the home invaders, which might be relevant.  But absent that, it's hard to imagine how defending yourself with a gun taken from your assailant could produce a raft of criminal charges like this.  Except in a police state, in which case all bets are off.

Murder, Reckless, and trafficking? We aren’t getting the whole story here.

Probably not but then the news never gives you the truth but write what they want and no one really finds out the facts till the trial. They threw the book at him but yet he is under house arrest for agun and shooting and not in jail. Will probably even be turned loose when it gets in court unless the guy has been in trouble before.............JMHO

I'm not sure about it man, I thought the same until reading some of the responses of fellow Canadians on their FB pages.  One guy said similar:

Jordan Mullin As a victim of a armed robbery myself, I had no choice but to take matters into my own hands before calling police and now am being charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. Never had a criminal record before is the funny part

And his story checks out (quick google of his name).  He was charged with those for having a knife and defending himself against a thug with a gun.
