The FNS pistol

It would seem, IMHO, that the FNH FNS series of pistols has to be the closest thing to a "perfect" pistol. The 9mm version is Glock 19 size with 17 capacity, the grip texture and angle are what they should be, they are fully ambidextrous... why is this not the most popular pistol on the planet? Or is it, and I just don't know it?

I've had mine a year or so and it's how you describe. Finding any holster I liked seemed problematic but has been fixed. The grip texture starts wearing on me after about the sixth magazine though. Spot on with the Glock comparison. I posted a picture on here comparing the G23 and the FNS 9. It probably faded away when Photobucket changed things up. For me this firearm fits everything I am after.

For one, it's not G19 sized. It has a 19 slide length with a 17 grip length. You simply can't fit 17 rounds in a G19 grip length.

FN is horrible at marketing this, the new 509 seems to have been better at this.

A lot of people want a defensive pistol to be used by military or cops and this has neither. Never was adopted in any large numbers by anyone.

I've had a Glock 17 since 1990 and I think the FNS is a superior pistol.  I'm not sure why more police departments are using them.  They are far and above a S&W M&P!!!

Lack of aftermarket support I suppose. I can only compare mine to the original M&P line (2005 series?) and a current gen 3 Glock.

That's saying something for a long time Glock owner like yourself.

In fairness to S&W, I am also comparing it to an M&P that I bought new last Fall.  Hated that pistol the day I took it home and realized I needed a tool to take it down. It went down hill from there after I took it to the range and realized the horrendous trigger everyone talked about was not an exaggeration.  Traded it away for a XDs, also in .45ACP.  Hope the other guy was happy with his end of the trade.  I know I sure was!
