Building a 9mm AR with block.

Recommended Posts

I know many folks make dedicated lowers for this but I already have a mil-spec lower sbr’d I’d like to use.

Which manufacturer would you recommend for the mag block and upper parts. Pretty much going to be used for pcc competition so long distance accuracy is of no concern (if it even can be achieved). Somewhat of a budget build with reliability dictating the spending floor.

I recommend the Hahn Precision dedicated magwell block.  You have to remove the bolt release (one roll pin) to install it, but it is very solid, doesn't move at all and can't come out.  I have three and they have been excellent with the Metalform/Brownells mags. LRBHO works perfectly.

I use the JP Enterprise 9mm bolts which work great.

Both items are pricey but if you want reliability for competition you may want to buy once/cry once, especially on the mag block.

You will also need a 9mm buffer.
