Barrel change question

Just the twist.

I think a little more is needed, what caliber and from what twist are we looking at, and what is your goal?  I've changed out barrels to a faster twist in order to stabilize heavier projectiles (for subs) but mostly just feed the rifle what it likes.

308 and the current twist is 1 in 12. I'm planning on shooting the heavier match king bullets.

I looked at aftermarket barrels and everything I saw when it comes to Rem 700 and Heavy is the price or more of a new gun.

Best bullet period for long range and accuracy for the 308 is the Lapua Scenar 155gr.  I would try it before changing barrels.  It will get you out to 1000 yards and should shoot in a 1/12.

If Subs are the goal, then a new barrel is in order.
