300 blkout cutting casings

Recommended Posts

A buddy at work recently bought a Daniel Defense in 300 Blackout. Every time he fires it, it either rips the casings in half or if it ejects, it has a ring around it where the others are coming apart. I told him he needs to contact DD but he would rather fix it local if possible to avoid shipping back and forth.

I know I'm not explaining it very well but does anyone have any ideas?

If it's making a ring on the brass on some and ripping others in the same place I would recommend he disassemble and check the chamber for abnormalities. I would also chamber a round and extract it without firing to see if it leaves this ring before or after case expansion. Did he buy this new or was it previously owned? If new I agree with your recommendation, send it back and DD will make it right.

Yea, seems like a headspace issue with what is known.  What type of ammo, reman, reload or new commercial?  The only issues I've had with my 300Blks is denting the case mouth, and a strip of velcro fixed that.  If a bad barrel, it's  rare it came out of DD that way, but one can slip by I suppose.
