National Reciprocity?

Recommended Posts

Be careful what you ask for, especially when politicians are involved.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is warning that House Leadership plans to merge Obama-style gun control with national reciprocity for concealed carry.

And now the NRA is saying that he's lying. It sucks belonging to an organization that is countering the very people that have been pushing for freedom.

When Bersa and I agree, that's a sign of...well, not sure what, but it's worth note.

The federal government getting into this simply establishes an inroads we don't want on the issue.

What @nightrunner and @btq96r said.

I wish people would give up on this. NY, CA, etc are much too powerful for this to ever end up in a happy place for everyone else.  The nitwits who keep sponsoring these bills have to know that. It seems to me they're either just placating their constituency or NY, CA style laws are what they really want.

Another "bill"  that has become a total FUBAR . Leave reciprocity to the states and I'll just continue to stay out of California, New York , and the other socialist states. I may have to make an exception occasionally to visit the grandkids in the DPRC ( democratic people's republic of California) :surrender:

I don't know if Bersa is out of character here. :) Government Solutions... like scented toilet paper.

Hard to know what's what.

NRA-ILA in their blurb today still points to HR 38 here:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/38

But that has none of the "Fix NICS" part in it. That bill this here:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4434?r=58

They were supposed to have been combined, but neither shows an amendment and neither shows a vote.

So who knows what the House actually passed today? Maybe somebody else can clear it up.

With some Federal Judges chomping at the bit to stop anything passed by this administration, I see this being challenged if it is passed.

The SCOTUS had indicated it will allow the states “reasonable restrictions” on carry. I assume at some point they will have to decide on what those reasonable restrictions are.  For example, even if I wanted to pay the $500 fee (which I don’t) for an out of state carry permit in Illinois, I can’t get one because something about Tennessee not checking something to do with mental health records (if I remember correctly). I can have a gun in my car in Illinois now; but I can’t carry outside of it.

There are a bunch of those types of conditions in various states I suspect will be challenged on the grounds those are “reasonable restrictions”.

Ah, okay, thanks. I guess when I posted it, it just wasn't updated yet.

Still don't know how the Fix NICS figures in.

edit: read somewhere that the Fix NICS part will be combined in the Senate version maybe

I'd say 5 or more states will ban together to file suit within days of it passing, will almost certainly find a judge to put stay on it till decided.

If the Senate does pass it and the POTUS signs it I'd say the 9th Circuit will shut it down before the ink is dry.
